James G. Bussard
James Geary Bussard, 64, of 12910 Salem Ave., Hagerstown, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at his home.
Born July 22, 1935, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Ott B. and Minnie Catherine Dunn Bussard.
He worked with Washington County Association of Retarded Citizens.
He was a member of Faith Temple in Cearfoss.
He is survived by three sisters, Betty Manspeaker and Peggy Mowen, both of Hagerstown, and Jeanette Carpenter of Winchester, Va.; four brothers, Edward Bussard, Raymond Bussard, Dick Bussard and Ronnie Bussard, all of Hagerstown; and his aunt and caretaker, Mary Mowen of Hagerstown, with whom he resided.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Faith Temple, 14015 Cearfoss Pike, Hagerstown. The Rev. Ronald Lynch will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Minnie P. Fields
Minnie Pauline Fields, 85, of 36 S. Cannon Ave., Hagerstown, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born June 9, 1914, in Chewsville, she was the daughter of the late William Statton and Daisy Elizabeth Schildneck Bowman.
Her husband, John Russell Fields Jr., died in 1988.
She was employed in the office of Troy Laundry Co. for many years.
She was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a member of Semper Fidelis Sunday School class.
She was a member of AARP and volunteered at Ravenwood Lutheran Home.
She is survived by a daughter, Judy Ann Resh of Hagerstown; a son, John Russell Fields III of Hagerstown; a sister, Mildred Dieterich of Hagerstown; five grandsons; a great-granddaughter; a niece and a nephew.
Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. The Rev. Edward H. Heim will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Evelyn M. Hoover
WILLIAMSPORT - Evelyn May Hoover, 77, formerly of Virginia Avenue, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at Coffman Nursing Home, Hagerstown.
Born June 18, 1922, in New York, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Eva M. Ball Bergen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy T. Hoover, in 1998.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, Williamsport, and Catholic Golden Age.
She was a member of AARP and Homemakers of Halfway.
She is survived by a daughter, Gail Basker of Wellington, Fla.; two sons, Dennis Hoover of Williamsport and Kevin Hoover of Hagerstown; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John Bergen.
A memorial Mass will be said Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, Williamsport. The Rev. Alfred E. Smith will be celebrant. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the services.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, 32 E. Potomac St., Williamsport, MD 21796.

Paul E. Stump
CASCADE - Paul E. Stump, 76, of 25249 Cascade Road, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, at his home.
Born Jan. 29, 1923, in Mount Union, Pa., he was the son of the late George E. and Maude V. Wagner Stump.
He married
Betty McLean Stump on Dec. 19, 1946. She died March 19, 1975.
He was a 1942 graduate of Mount Union High School.
He served in the Navy during World War II as an electrician's mate 3rd class in the Pacific, including at Pearl Harbor.
After the military he became an electrician, both self-employed and at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg. He retired in 1977 from the Army Corps of Engineers in the Baltimore District.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Waynesboro.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge 688 Free and Accepted Masons, Mount Union, and Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15, Waynesboro.
He is survived by one daughter, Barbara J. Royer of Waynesboro; two sons, Douglas G. Stump of Lebanon, Pa., and James L. Stump of Elizabethtown, Pa.; his companion with whom he lived for the past 10 years, Elaine Decker; two sisters, Mary Garman and Jean DeVechis, both of Mount Union; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Miriam R. Gearhart, and one brother, Alvin J. Stump.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Jay E. Zimmerman will officiate.
The family will receive friends Tuesday 30 minutes prior to the services at the funeral home.
There will be no public viewing.
There wil also be services at Robert Heath Funeral Home, 61 E. Shirley St., Mount Union, on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Catherine M. Baer
WILLIAMSPORT - Catherine M. Baer, 88, a resident of Homewood Retirement Home, and formerly of 13713 Village Mill Drive, Maugansville, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at the retirement home.
Born Nov. 6, 1911, in Maugansville, she was the daughter of the late Phares N. and Lydia Martin Witmer.
Her husband, Melvin S. Baer, died March 3, 1990. They were married
April 7, 1928.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Cedar Grove Mennonite Church near Greencastle, Pa.
She is survived by two daughters, Lorraine Reid of Hagerstown and Isabelle Fox of Greencastle; one son, Donald Baer of Hagerstown; one half sister, Ida Jo Martin of Hagerstown; one half brother, Clayton Witmer of Daytona, Fla.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Lizzie Martin, and one brother, Raymond Witmer.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Cedar Grove Mennonite Church, 13343 Williamsport Pike, Greencastle. The Rev. Nelson Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Mennonite Church cemetery at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle.
