Dorothy J. Myers
Dorothy J. Myers, 72, of 55 E. Washington St., Hagerstown, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 3, 1927, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Frank Milton and Helen Pauline Everly McCarney.
Her husband, Albert T. Myers, died in 1996.
She was retired from Horner Manufacturing Co.
She attended church at the Salvation Army.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda D. Gorman of Hagerstown; two sons, Albert E. Myers and Gary W. Myers, both of Hagerstown; two sisters, Betty Drury of Hagerstown and Shirley McDonald of Falling Waters, W.Va.; six brothers, Frank McCarney, Leonard McCarney, Eugene McCarney and Jack McCarney, all of Hagerstown, Sonny McCarney of Elkhart, Ind., and Raymond McCarney of Chewsville; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Barbara Ann Myers and Peggy Ann Myers; one sister, Maxine Drury, and one brother, Robert L. McCarney.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. Major Robert S. Henderson will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
Marie V. Abbott
KEEDYSVILLE - Marie Virginia Rohrer Abbott, 79, of 4102 Chestnut Grove Road, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 31, 1919, in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late Otha T. and Mary M. Eversole Rohrer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry H. Abbott, who died Oct. 31, 1994.
She was a lifetime member of Mount Briar First Church of God, Keedysville, where in 1998 she received her Honorary Lifetime Membership as deconist of the church. She also was assistant pianist.
She retired from Fairchild Aircraft, Hagerstown.
She is survived by two daughters, Gloria J. Winebrenner of Keedysville and Patricia L. Churchey of Sharpsburg; two brothers, Austin K. Rohrer and Chauncey A. Rohrer, both of Sharpsburg; one grandson; four granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Glenn Rohrer, C. Thomas Rohrer and Ernest Rohrer.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Joseph Burdette will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home. Friends may call any time today after noon.

Dorothy VanMeter
Dorothy VanMeter, 70, of 1380 Marshall St., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 28, 1929, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Grover C. and Delia Reed VanMeter.
She participated at Human Development Council Seniors Program.
She is survived by one sister, Nancy Haywood of Cambria, Calif.; one niece, Janet G. Gower of Springfield, W.Va.; nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at the Potomac Center at a later date. Burial will be in Queens Point Cemetery, Keyser, W.Va.

Mary E. Shipley
Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Shipley, 82, of 322 N. Mulberry St., Hagerstown, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born May 23, 1917, in Fiddlersburg, Md., she was the daughter of the late Jonas and Mary E. Johns Dayhoff.
Her husband, Vernon W. "Ducky" Shipley Sr., died Oct. 14, 1989.
She attended Shiloh Brethren Church, Security, Md.
She is survived by three daughters, Martha Irene Brown of Boonsboro, Catherine M. Brown and Nellie Thomas, both of Hagerstown; one son, Vernon W. Shipley Jr. of Clear Spring; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter; two sisters, Edna Chaney and Frances Tracey; and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Richard A. Gross will officiate. Burial will be in Harbaugh's Cemetery, Rouzerville, Pa.

John T. Routzahn
MIDDLETOWN, Md. - John Thomas Routzahn, 93, of E. Main St., died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.
Born July 30, 1906, in Middletown, he was the son of the late John Lewis and Lucie Thomas Routzahn.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Groff Routzahn, who died Feb. 5, 1987.
He attended the University of Maryland, where he studied horticulture.
He was employed with the family business, Grangers Mutual Insurance Co., for over 70 years.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown.
He was a member of the board of directors of Middletown Valley Bank and a member of BPOE 684, Frederick. He was a former member of the Middletown Planning Commission.
He is survived by one daughter, Caroline Routzahn Wright of Hagerstown; one son, J. Thomas Routzahn Jr., of Middletown; three sisters, Louise R. Crevey of Braddock Heights, Md., Josephine Clapp of Frederick, and Lucille Shank of Boonsboro; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert H. Routzahn and a sister, Evelyn Routzahn.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown. The Rev. Donald L. Turley will officiate.

Preston E. Lehman Sr.
Preston Earl Lehman, Sr., 74, of 21606 Leiter St., Hagerstown, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Nov. 7, 1925, in Greene Township, Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of the late Reuben and Katie Lehman.
He was employed by Buchanan Auto Parts, Waynesboro, Pa.
He was a member of Wayside Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Horning Lehman; two daughters, Kathy L. Lehman and Betty J. Lehman-Barton, both of Hagerstown; three sons, Samuel R. Lehman of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Thomas E. Lehman and Robert L. Lehman, both of Hagerstown; two sisters, Elisabeth Yeager and Helen Martin, both of Chambersburg, Pa.; three brothers, Verne Lehman of Hagerstown, Adin Lehman of Chambersburg and David Lehman of Lancaster, Pa.; one stepsister, Frances Arrowwood of Chambersburg; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Preston E. Lehman Jr., and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wayside Baptist Church, 21303 Leiter Street, Hagerstown. The Rev. Odell Stone will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
