Katherine B. Manor
BRUNSWICK, Md. - Katherine Bryarly Manor, 89, of 520 W. Potomac St., died Friday, Dec., 24, 1999, at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.
Born Sept. 27, 1910, in North Mountain, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James Bryarly Manor and Cora Naylor Manor.
She was a graduate of Brunswick High School and James Madison University. She did graduate work at Cornell University.
She taught in Brunswick schools for 42 years. During that time, she was secretary, treasurer and vice president of the local PTA.
She was a lifelong member of Grace Episcopal Church in Brunswick, a church school teacher, and served as secretary, treasurer, vice president and president of the former Women's Guild.
She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, treasurer of the Alumni Association of James Madison University, and was a member of the Frederick County, state and national Retired Teachers Association. She also was a member of the board of directors of Brunswick Library.
She is survived by three cousins, Marjorie B. Lakin, Eleanor V. Lakin and Patricia L. Lemkuhl, all of Boonsboro.
Services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church in Brunswick. The Rev. Thomas P. Staup will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mark's cemetery in Petersville, Md.
The family will receive friends at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Robert J. Binau
SMITHSBURG - Robert John Binau, 53, of Smithsburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 21, 1946, he was the son of Robinson and Florence Mobley Binau of Hagerstown.
He worked as a dispatcher for the Hagerstown City Police. He was a former radio announcer for station WJEJ. His radio name was Bob Montgomery.
He was a member of Antietam Ham Radio Association; Local Union ASSCME 1540 of Hagerstown; and he was involved in Collie and German Shepherd rescues.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Susan Shapiro; a niece; an uncle and cousins.
A memorial service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Hagerstown. Monsignor Edward Manales will officiate.
Burial will be private.

Ruth E. Caddie
WESTON, Fla. - Ruth Evelyn "Pegg" Caddie, 71, of Weston, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999, at Hospice House of Florida Medical Center in Lauderdale Lakes, Fla.
Born April 7, 1928, she was the daughter of the late John K. and Pearl Leola Landers Caddie of Hancock.
She attended Hancock High School; graduated from Franklin Square School of Nursing, and Johns Hopkins School of Anesthesiology in Baltimore. She attained a B.B.A. degree in Accounting from Miami University.
She was a registered nurse and physician's assistant in Miami. She retired as chief nurse anesthetist from Mercy Hospital in Miami.
She was a member of Fort Lauderdale Humane Society; and American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
She is survived by three sisters, M. Eileen Caddie Block and Barbara Sue Twigg, both of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Betty Louise Spielman of Killeen, Texas; a brother, Darl William Caddie of Bedias, Texas; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Gardens in Hagerstown.
Bernard N. Exline
SHARPSBURG - Bernard Neal "Elick" Exline, 58, of 143 E. High St., died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at his home.
Born Sept. 22, 1941, in Grafton, W.Va., he was the son of the late Authur Dequoy and Willa Larue Canfield Exline.
He owned and operated B.N. Exline Trucking Co., retiring in 1980.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corp.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by a daughter, Diann Lynn Shaffer of Gapland; two sons, Michael James Exline of Hagerstown and Mark Wayne Exline at home; five sisters, Wilda J. Exline, Vonda J. Stutler and Kate Gerkin, all of Grafton, W.Va., Wanda J. Stutler of Cumberland, Md., and Missy Exline of Hagerstown; three brothers, Charles R. Exline of Grafton, David L. Exline and Thomas K. Exline, both of Sharpsburg; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, Willard L. Exline, Lawrence O. Exline, Ed Exline, Darle Exline, Danzil Exline and Scott Exline.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St. in Williamsport. Pastor Ken Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View cemetery in Sharpsburg, with military graveside services provided by Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion of Hagerstown.
Friends may call Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open Monday after 9 a.m., for the convenience of family and friends.

Erma E. Grove
GOSHEN, Ind. - Erma E. "Ethel" Grove, 78, of 1442 Greencroft Drive, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, Ind.
Born March 20, 1921, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Katie Eshleman Grove.
She attended Eastern Mennonite College in Harrisonburg, Va., and Goshen College.
She taught fifth-grade classes in Ethiopia. She also taught junior high school in Maugansville, and home economics in Culp, Ark.
She was a member of College Mennonite Church at Goshen College.
For 28 years, under the Mennonite Board of Missions, she was a missionary in Ghana, Africa. For 17 years of that time, she was a mission business manager.
She is survived by three sisters, Martha Miller of Elkhart, Amanda Dick of Buhler, Kan., and Leona Musselman of Gettysburg, Pa.; and three brothers, John Grove of Mercersburg, Pa., Clarence Grove of Greencastle, Pa., and Luther Grove Jr. of Hagerstown.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
Services were held Thursday at College Mennonite Church. Pastors Nancy Kauffman and Rosemary Widmer officiated.
A graveside committal service will be held today at 10 a.m. at Cedar Grove Mennonite Church Cemetery, Williamsport Pike, Greencastle. Pastor Rob Cahill will officiate.
Carrie E. Cronise
Carrie Eleanor Cronise, 88, of 76 Devonshire Road, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999.
Services will be held today at 10:30 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.
Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Walter T. Jackson
WILLIAMSPORT - Walter Theodore Jackson, 78, of 38 N. Conococheague St., died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at Colton Villa Nursing Center in Hagerstown.
Born Oct. 16, 1921, in Pinesburg, Md., he was the son of the late Albert Theodore and Edna Florence Hose Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thora Mae Roach Jackson, in 1989.
He was employed as a sheet metal mechanic by Danzer Metal Works, retiring in 1987.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a member of Conococheague Tribe 84 IORed Men, Rd., in Williamsport; and Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion in Hagerstown.
He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Jean Jackson of Hagerstown; a stepdaughter, Sandra Mae Kresge of Hummelstown, Pa.; four sisters, Dorothy Virginia Smallwood of Hagerstown, Betty L. Ebersole of Keedysville, Shirley M. McCauley and Mary M. McCauley, both of Pinesburg, Md.; three brothers, Richard D. Jackson and Merle E. Jackson, both of Pinesburg and Lewis G. Jackson of Pottstown, Pa.; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Carrie V. Linderman, Amanda J. Jackson and Clara V. Maloy.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St. in Williamsport. The Rev. Richard A. Kroll will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport, with military graveside services provided by members of Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion.
