Frederick M. Arnold
DALTON, Ga. - Frederick Marshall Arnold, 40, of Dalton, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999.
Born July 29, 1959, in Newport News, Va., he was the son of Naomi White Arnold of Dalton and the late Marshall F. Arnold Jr.
He owned and operated Alth Computers.
He was a Methodist.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Charmagne Wallace of Chatsworth, Ga.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in Rosedale Cemetery. The Rev. Al Clipp will officiate.

Gertraud M. Kennedy
CASCADE - Gertraud M. Berghof Kennedy, 74, of 25326 Springdale Ave., died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, at Western Maryland Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born March 29, 1925, in Cosel, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Otto C. and Marie Rominchek Berghof.
She graduated from high school in Germany.
She was employed for Doubleday Book Publishing Company, Smithsburg, as an inspector for 21 years, in the free press and finishing department, retiring in 1984.
She attended mass at the chapel at the former Fort Ritchie.
She was a member of National AARP, and former Officers Wives Club at Fort Ritchie.
She also served as den mother for the Boy Scouts of America when her children were growing up.
As a young girl, she was imprisoned in Auschwitz, Poland, for several months and then transferred into forced labor at an ammunition factory in Austria for political reasons.
She is survived by her husband, Edward R. Kennedy Sr., whom she married
Sept. 15, 1949; three daughters, Linda M. McCleaf of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., twins, Margaret C. Kennedy-Baker and Loretta A. Brown, both of Smithsburg; two sons, Edward R. Kennedy Jr., and Shawn W. Kennedy, both of Hagerstown; five sisters, Louise Muse of San Antonio, Maria Klante, Emmy Kalweit, Alicia Wolff and Krista Berghof, all of Germany; three brothers, Otto Berghof, Walter Berghof and Bernard Berghof, all of Germany; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Main St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Paul Tobias will officiate.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 p.m. until the services in the funeral home.

Jane C. Summers
WESTPORT, Conn. - Jane C. Summers, 68, of 300 Bayberry Lane, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at Norwalk Hospital, Norwalk, Conn.
Born April 16, 1931, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Walter F. and Edith L. Sheeley Cushen.
She was a graduate of Towson University with a degree in education.
She taught elementary education in Westport School System for 29 years prior to retiring.
She was a member of United Methodist Church of Westport, where she was chairman of the Flower Committee and a member of the chancel and bell choirs.
She is survived by her husband, Carroll E. Summers; one daughter, Barbara Summers Kuryluk of Charlottesville, Va.; one son, Charles C. Summers of New York City; one brother, Dr. W. Edward Cushen of Chevy Chase, Md.; and one granddaughter.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. Bruce A. Foster will officiate.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
Arrangements are by Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown.
Erma F. Davis
MAUGANSVILLE - Erma Faye Davis, 89, formerly of 205 Main St., died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, at Williamsport Nursing Home.
Born May 7, 1910, in Heaters, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Ida Cougar Brown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald E. Davis, who died in 1992.
She was employed with Grand Union, retiring in June, 1975, after 19 years of service.
She was a member of Paramount Baptist Church.
She was a member of Senior Citizens of Maugansville.
She is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Martin of Falling Waters, W.Va.; one sister, Norma Cristelli of Buckhannon, W.Va.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jean Selby; two sons, Aubrey G. Davis and Franklin Davis and one brother, Carl Brown.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Larry Rickard will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Charlotte R. Davis
SHARPSBURG - Charlotte Roulette Davis, 91, of 201 W. Main St., died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 10, 1908, in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late John Walter and Myrta I. Snavely Roulette.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Howell Davis, who died in 1974.
She was retired from Washington County Board of Education as a teacher, having taught in the Sharpsburg and Keedysville Elementary Schools.
She was a member of Christ Reformed Church of Christ in Sharpsburg, where she was a former deacon, member of the consistory, Sunday School teacher and organist.
She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution; Washington County Retired Teachers Association and Boonsboro Senior Citizens.
She is survived by one daughter, Sandra S. Guessford of Sharpsburg; one sister, Louise DeLauder of Hagerstown; one brother, R. Earl Roulette of Sharpsburg; friend and caretaker, Regina Weaver; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Pitzer and three brothers, John Roulette, Charles Roulette, and Walter Franklin Roulette.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Beverly Lewis will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Gladys B. Needy
BOONSBORO - Gladys Beard Needy, 85, of 423 N. Main St., died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 9, 1914, in State Line, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Urilla A. Gossard Beard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Needy, who died Sept. 15, 1991.
She owned and operated the Boone Hotel in Boonsboro from 1940 to 1965.
She was a member of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church.
She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary for Boonsboro American Legion Clopper Michael Post 10.
She is survived by two daughters, June E. Keyes of Hagerstown and Roberta A. Long of Memins, Fla.; one step-daughter, Jean Raulerson of Miami; one stepson, Robert Kerns of Cicero, N.Y.; one granddaughter; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by eight sisters; four brothers and one granddaughter.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Ron Kurtz will officiate. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing or evening visitation, however, the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
