James E. Eckert Sr.
WILLIAMSPORT - James Edward Eckert Sr., 67, of Williamsport, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at his home.
Born April 1, 1932, in New York City, he was the son of Rita Rose Shaum Eckert of Barre, Vt., and the late Wilber L. Eckert.
He was a 1955 graduate of Mount St. Mary's College. He took post graduate courses from Frederick Community College, Department of Agriculture, University of Virginia, University of California in Los Angeles, and the Department of Defense Security Institute.
He was employed by the Internal Revenue Service, retiring in 1984. He started as a tax collector and was an early participant in the field of data processing. He was in charge of data security and physical plant security at National Computer Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
He was a member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Williamsport.
He was a member of BPO Elks 378; Martinsburg Moose Lodge; and AARP.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Patricia Ryan Eckert; a daughter, Kathleen J. Harsh of Williamsport; a son, James E. Eckert Jr. of Williamsport; four sisters, Joan Knott of Mount Airy, Md., Rita Anne Valliere of Barre, Vt., Delores Little of Atlanta and Patricia Hoxie of Gaithersburg, Md.; a brother, Robert E. Eckert of Lake Bluff, Ill.; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Alfred Smith will be celebrant. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. Prayers will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

Albert E. Moser
Albert E. Moser, 88, of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 10, 1911, in Wolfsville, Md., he was the son of the late George E. and Della Marker Moser.
His first wife, Geneiva Summers Moser, died in 1984.
Before retirement, he worked for Kauffman's Garage in Frederick, Md., as an auto mechanic.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Grossnickle Church of the Brethren in Myersville, Md.
He was a member of BPO Elks 378 in Hagerstown; Williamsport American Legion; Williamsport Red Men Club; and Golden Ballroom Dancers of Hagerstown.
He is survived by his second wife, Elsie Kline Moser; two stepdaughters, Joyce M. Wiesinger of Cheverly, Md., and Laura Jean Kline of Hagerstown; two stepsons, Allan S. Kline of Fayetteville, Ark., and James E. Kline of Keedysville; two stepgrandchildren; cousins; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Grossnickle and Vada Harshman; and two brothers, Hoy Moser and Roger Moser.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville. The Rev. Ronald A. Beverlin will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion United Methodist cemetery in Myersville.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Paul T. Oliver
Paul Thomas Oliver, 74, of Hagerstown, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg.
Born Dec. 13, 1925, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Boyd Raymond and Margie E. Fravel Oliver.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Paul L. Hecker Sr.
Paul Leon "Ike" Hecker Sr., 83, of 413 Ridge Ave., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at his home.
Born April 18, 1916, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Daniel Hecker and Mary Devona Seibert.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara A. Hecker, in 1995.
He retired from Charlton Brothers in Hagerstown; and previously was employed by Kopper Co. in Hagerstown.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.
He was a member of American Legion Morris Frock Post 42.
He is survived by three sons, Paul Hecker Jr. and Charles Hecker, both of Hagerstown, and Roger Hecker of St. James; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Charles L. Gelwicks
Charles Lee "Chuck" Gelwicks, 69, of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Nov. 12, 1930, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Leon Charles and Madalyn Ida McKee Gelwicks.
He was a 1950 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
He retired from Mack Trucks; and previously was employed by Fairchild Aircraft.
He served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
He was president of Artizans Craft Guild; past president of Longmeadow Lions Club; a member of Washington County Hospital Auxiliary; and American Legion Morris Frock Post 42.
He is survived by his wife, Anna June House Gelwicks; a daughter, Terri Lynne Gelwicks Matlock of Germantown, Md.; two sons, Daryll Black Gelwicks and Tod Lee Gelwicks, both of Hagerstown; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Lou Gelwicks.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Revs. Dennis L. Upton and Dennis R. Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Marshall E. Tedrick
TAMPA, Fla. - Marshall E. Tedrick, 95, of Tampa, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at Lake Shore Villas in Tampa.
Born March 15, 1904, in Big Pool, he was the son of the late Daniel and Louise Shank Tedrick.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mildred Spielman Tedrick.
He owned a citrus grove.
He is survived by nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by six siblings.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 10 a.m., at Blount Curry and Roel Funeral Home in Tampa. The Rev. LeeAnn Inman officiated.

Hilda K.J. Guth
Hilda Kathryn Johnson Guth, 87, of 107 Linden Ave., died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at Homewood Nursing Home in Williamsport.
Born Feb. 13, 1912, in Leitersburg, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Stephen and Sadie Douglas Guth.
She was a member of Zion Reformed Church in Hagerstown.
She was a member of Washington County Hospital Auxiliary, volunteering for 23 years.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven cemetery in Hagerstown. The Rev. J. Clark Hayes will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
