Isabelle V. Showe
FREDERICK, Md. - Isabelle Virginia Showe, 73, of 402 Pearl St., died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 20, 1926, in Boonsboro, she was the daughter of the late John Floyd and Myrtle Virginia Poffenberger Morgan.
She had worked for Fairchild, Hagerstown, during World War II and later with Sagners Inc., Price Electric Co. and retired from Frederick Optical Co. due to ill health.
She is survived by her husband, Harvey I. Showe Jr.; three daughters, Donna J. Grubbs of Ijamsville, Md., Cherly L. Niles of Knoxville and Kathi S. Geisbert of Adamstown, Md.; one son, Terrance L. Showe of Frederick; three sisters, Shirley E. Hessong of Sharpsburg, C. JoAnn Barron of Hagerstown and Phyllis K. Armstrong of Boonsboro; one brother, Wayne W. Morgan of Boonsboro; eight grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy J. Grimes.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Keeny and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St. Capt. Sam Hearne will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
The family will receive friends today and Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Dorthalee R. Ropp
MYERSVILLE, Md. - Dorthalee Ruth Michael Ropp, 63, of 5 Walnut St., died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at her home after an extended illness.
Born March 12, 1936, in Myersville, she was the daughter of the late C. Lloyd and Josephine Wolfe Michael.
She retired in October 1997 after 36 years of service working for the Department of the Army at Fort Ritchie, Cascade, and Fort Detrick, Frederick, Md. She was a secretary to Fort Detrick's U.S. Army Garrison commander. She earned many honors and awards during her career and retired as a communications specialist from Fort Ritchie's Base Realignment and Closure Office.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown, Md., where she taught Sunday School for nearly 40 years and served as secretary of Branch 6622 Aid Association for Lutherans since its inception in 1992.
She was a member of Zion's Women's Bowling Team of the Intra-Church League for many years and a former member of Myersville Homemakers Club.
She is survived by her husband of more than 46 years, M. Lee Ropp; her stepmother, Jane Guyton Michael; three sons, Richard L. Ropp of Berlin, Md., Kevin L. Ropp of Jefferson, Md. and Brian M. Ropp of Shrewsbury, Pa.; four sisters, Nettie Catherine Rudy of Myersville, Gloria Jean Toms of Frederick, Phyllis King of Newport News, Va., and Joyce Forsythe of Wolfsville, Md.; three grandchildren; 12 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one nephew.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Donald Turley will officiate. Final viewing will begin at 10 a.m. at the rear of the church sanctuary. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today and Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, E. Main St., Middletown.

Ella L. Hutzell
MOUNT AIRY, Md. - Ella Louisa Hutzell, 96, formerly of Old National Pike, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at Northampton Manor Nursing Home, Frederick, Md.
Born Oct. 20, 1903, in Myersville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Roy U. and Clara M. Winfield Delauter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Austin M. Hutzell, who died in July 1930.
She was a homemaker for most of her life. She also spent time as a caregiver and companion for other people.
She was a member of Frederick Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by two daughters, Louise E. Smith of Mount Airy and Paulina H. Burgee of Frederick; one son, Leslie U. Hutzell of Ijamsville, Md.; one sister, Jennie B. Carpenter of Frederick; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Flora M. Burall and two brothers, Roy L. Delauter and Roger U. Delauter.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. The Rev. Paul Mundey will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery, Boonsboro.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Andrew J. Jones
Andrew Johnson "Andy" Jones, 79, of 425 Chartridge Drive, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Feb. 23, 1920, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Lewis R. and Ruth Dusang Jones.
He was retired from C & P Telephone Co. after 42 years of service.
He was a member of C & P Telephone Pioneers.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Stouffer Jones; one daughter, Linda K. Lemaster of Waynesboro, Pa.; two sisters, Alta F. Blalock of Hagerstown and Ruth M. Fahrney of Harrisonburg, Va.; one grandson; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret R. Burk and one son, Robert Lee Jones.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Raymond H. Shriver will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
There will be no viewing.

Lizzie B. Horst
Lizzie B. Horst, 87, a resident of Mennonite Old People's Home, 13436 Maugansville Road, Hagerstown, and formerly of Maugansville, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at the home.
Born July 3, 1912, in Washington County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Martin L. and Mary Baer Horst.
She was a lifelong member of Reiff Mennonite Church, near Cearfoss, where she taught children in Sunday School for many years and helped in the homes of her relatives.
She is survived by two sisters, Emma Petre and Ada B. Horst, both of Hagerstown; one brother, Mahlon M. Horst of Harrisonburg, Va., and 45 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Diller and Katie Shank and two brothers, Benjamin B. Horst and Menno B. Horst.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Reiff Mennonite Church. The Reiff Mennonite Church Ministry will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
The family requests that flowers be omitted.

Mabel C. Holmes
WILLIAMSPORT - Mabel Christine Holmes, 80, a resident of Homewood and formerly of Clearview Road, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at Homewood.
Born Jan. 9, 1919, in Framingham, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Bruce McKeen and Christine Cameron Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Leo Holmes, in 1984.
She was a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the circle and prayer group.
She is survived by a daughter, Catherine A. Freeland of Havre de Grace, Md.; two sons, Millard B. Holmes of Ellicott City, Md. and Mark C. Holmes of Williamsport; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin Smith and Murdock Smith.
Memorial services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 11833 Greenhill Drive in Hagerstown. The Rev. George W. Evans will officiate.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd. in Elkridge, Md.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown.
