DALE O. GLOTFELTY
Dale O. Glotfelty, 72, Bittinger, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born May 13, 1930, in Accident, he was a son of the late Orval and Emma (Brenneman) Glotfelty. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert O. Glotfelty.
He was a lifetime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Bittinger. He was a U.S. Army veteran during the mid 1950s. He was a self-employed roofing contractor and a 1947 graduate of Grantsville High School.
He was a leader of the Bittinger 4-H club from 1950 until 1965; the 1965 recipient of the 4-H Alumni Recognition Award; initiated into the Maryland 4-H All-Stars as a lifetime member; adult leader of the Dairy Livestock Judging Team from Garrett County to the Maryland State Fair; and was involved in establishing bred heifer sales for the livestock association.
He was a founding member of Garrett County Processing and Packing Corp., and served as president from 1978 until 2000. He was appointed to the Garrett County Planning Commission from 1998 to present. He was a 20-year member of the Garrett County Fair Board, serving as president during the mid 1990s.
He is survived by three sisters, Helen G. Englar, Westminster, Betty G. Hummel, Olympia, Wash., and Dorothy G. Quaintance, Schenectady, N.Y.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, on Friday, Nov. 15, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, with Pastor Patricia Pittsnogle officiating.
Interment will be in Bittinger Cemetery.
A graveside military service will be conducted by Grantsville American Legion Post 214. At his request, memorial contributions may be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
ANN N. MEYERS
Ann Nellie Meyers, 89, Cumberland, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born June 5, 1913, in Swanton, she was the daughter of the late James Henry Johnston and Anna Martha (Hileman) Johnston. She was preceded in death by her husband, William P. Meyers, in 1984.
She is survived by one son, William T. Meyers, Dayton, Ohio; two daughters, Barbara Ann Ritchie, Spring Gap, and Stephanie Branhan, Starr, S.C.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted at the Davis Memorial Cemetery on Friday, Nov. 15, at 11:30 a.m., with the Rev. Mike Henning officiating.
The Merritt-Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
TWILA V. SPRAGUE
Twila V. Sprague, 95, Oakland, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home, Frostburg.
Born Feb. 7, 1907, in Shaw, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Charles F. and Viola M. (Hill) Blackburn.
She was a member of the Mt. Storm Presbyterian Church, Mt. Storm, and attended St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Oakland. She was a graduate of Kitzmiller High School and Shepherd College, with a bachelor of arts degree in education. For a number of years, she taught elementary schools in Mineral and Monongalia counties, W.Va. From 1950 until her retirement in 1971, she was a caseworker with the Garrett County Department of Social Services.
She is survived by one sister, Mary B. Brown, Cumberland.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was held on Sunday, Nov. 10, with the Rev. T. Patrick Kerr officiating.
Interment was in the Pope Cemetery.

ZELDA M. RYMAN
Zelda Mae Ryman, 91, Newaygo, Mich., died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at Gerber Memorial Hospital, Fremont, Mich.
Born July 19, 1911, in Jennings, she was a daughter of the late Alonzo and Renee (Hoover) Butler. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herman Marshall Ryman, June 14, 1996; one daughter, Mary; and three sons, Floyd, Marvin, and Russell.
She was a homemaker, and held memberships in Cornerstone Assembly of God, Boynton, Pa., and Rive Valley Community Church, Newaygo.
Surviving are two sons, James Ryman and Marshall Ryman, both of Newaygo; three daughters, Virginia Durst and Ruth Newman, both of Newaygo, and Wanda Butler, Boynton; one sister, Leona Winebrenner, Grantsville; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Salisbury, Pa., where a service was conducted on Sunday, Nov. 10, with the Pastor Butch Morsberger officiating.
Interment was in the Salisbury Cemetery.
ARLENE B. LEEDY
Arlene Beachy Leedy, 78, Grantsville, formerly of Towson, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born May 30, 1924, in Grantsville, she was a daughter of the late Sherman E. and Clara (Miller) Beachy. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, William Blaine Beachy and Sherman Beachy Jr.; and two sisters, Joann Beachy and Margaret Peck.
She was a payroll secretary for Gemstar, Hunt Valley. She was also a member of Maple Grove Church of the Brethren and attended Cherry Grove Church of the Brethren. She also was a member of St. John's Old Tenth Ward, Towson.
She is survived by two brothers, Cecil Beachy, Somerset, Pa., and Virgil Beachy, Grantsville; and one sister, Helen Durst, Salisbury, Pa.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, where a service was held on Sunday, Nov. 10, with Pastor Henry Elsea Jr. officiating.
Interment was in the Grantsville Cemetery.

FRED W. BISSETT
Fred W. Bissett, 86, St. George, W.Va., died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at Cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas, W.Va.
Born March 28, 1916, in Hundred, W.Va., he was the son of the late William and Lucy Bissett. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lillian (Kuhn) Bissett, in 1989.
He retired as a supervisor with Goodyear, Akron, Ohio, after 37 years of service.
He is survived by one daughter, Mary Lou Chester, Warren, Ohio; two sons, Jack Bissett, Akron, Ohio, and John Bissett, St. George; one sister, Nell Bissett, Seattle, Wash.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
At his request, his body was cremated. There will be no viewing or service.

EVELYN HARNED
Evelyn Harned, 88, Oakland, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, at the Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Baltimore.
Born May 23, 1914, in Oakland, she was a daughter of the late Edward G. and Magnolia (Ball) Kight. She was preceded in death by one son, Dr. Louis Rishel; three sisters, Ethel Bigler, Lona Kight, and Myrtle Gortner; and five brothers, Everett Kight, Charles Kight, Virgil Kight, Ray Kight, and Cecil Kight.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Red House, and was a nurse at West Virginia University Medical Center, Morgantown, W.Va.
She is survived by one sister, Violet Stahl, Baltimore.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 14. A service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in Red House Cemetery.
DOUGLAS P. SISLER
Local businessman Douglas P. Sisler, 38, Oakland, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va., after a short illness.
Born April 26, 1964, in Oakland, he was a son of Paul D. Sisler Jr., Friends-ville, and the late Darlene J. (Thomas) Sisler.
He was the president of I.C. Electronics, Oakland, and ICEWEB.Net.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Norma J. (Custer) Sisler; two sons, Cameron P. Sisler and Nathan D. Sisler, both at home; one sister, Patricia A. Morris, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and one brother, Christopher T. Sisler, New Holland, Pa.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 14. A service will be held at the Sand Spring Church of God on Friday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Robert Fletcher and Rev. Mark Lawson officiating. ESTHER E. HUFFMAN
Esther E. Huffman, 72, Bayard, W.Va., formerly of Eastlake, Ohio, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, at her home.
Born Jan. 30, 1930, in Scranton, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Ralph W. and Elizabeth M. (Williams) White. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James R. Huffman, in 1967; one son, Robert L. "Butch" Willard, in 1999; and one sister, Nancy K. Thou, in 2001.
She was a retired personal caregiver.
She is survived by one son, James H. Huffman, Euclid, Ohio; four daughters, Donna K. Gay, Bayard, Dorretta E. Jenkins, Ashtabula, Ohio, Ruth E. Mandato, Concord, Ohio, and Judith A. Bash, Madison, Ohio; one sister, Sara Swor, San Jose, Calif.; two brothers, Robert W. White, Madison, and Ralph White, St. Petersburg, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

THELMA B. ANELLO
Thelma Belle Anello, 77, Frostburg, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Oct. 29, 1925, in Grantsville, she was the daughter of the late George William and Carrie (Spiker) Swauger. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Angelo Anello, May 22, 1992.
She was a supervisor for Giant Foods, Baltimore.
She is survived by one son, Joseph A. Anello, Grantsville; and two grandchildren.
Interment was private.

IRVIN H. SIVITS
Irvin Harry Sivits, 85, Accident, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born July 25, 1917, in Central City, Pa., he was a son of the late Harry and Elsie (Daley) Sivits. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
He was a truck driver for Phoenix Construction, and was a member of Greenville Lutheran Church. He was reared by Frank and Clara Dietle.
Surviving are his wife, Leola Harlene (Hollada) Sivits; one son, James Sivits, Accident; two sisters, Violet Laslo and Jennie Mae Mintdrop, both of West Palm Beach, Fla.; one half sister, Meriam Croskey, Akron, Ohio; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Accident, where a service was held on Wednesday, Nov. 13, with the Rev. Dr. Wilfred Karsten officiating.
Interment was in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

GEORGIA B. FIKE
Georgia B. Fike, 80, Oakland, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born Feb. 24, 1922, in Kempton, she was a daughter of the late James A. and Nina I. (Cox) Jackson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wayne V. Fike, in 1994; one brother, Leonard Jackson; and one sister, Addis Zurcher.
She was a member of the Oak Park Church of the Brethren, and was a former member of the Mountaintop Promenaders and the Skirts Bowling League.
She is survived by one daughter, Deanna L. Nacke, Louisville, Ky.; one son, Phillip R. Fike, Aurora, W.Va.; one brother, Charles Jackson, Medina, Ohio; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15.
A service will be held at the Oak Park Church of the Brethren on Saturday, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Mel Menker officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.

HARRY DURST
Harry "Pete" Durst, 79, Grantsville, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Sept. 14, 1923, in Grantsville, he was a son of the late John and Nellie (Beeman) Durst. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Bertha (Ours) Durst, May 9, 1975; and two sisters, Margaret Durst and Virginia Spiker.
He was a timber man. He was a member of Laughlin Church of the Brethren, Grantsville.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Elaine (Dodds) Durst; two sons, Jim Durst, Grantsville, and Charles Thomas Durst, Auburndale, Fla.; two brothers, John J. Durst, Frostburg, and Frank Durst, Grantsville; four sisters, Mary Warnick, Evelyn Knox, and Ethel Kinzey, all of Grantsville, and Honey Faivre, Ohio; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Interment was in the Durst Cemetery.
JUANITA C. TRANUM
Juanita Clara Tranum, 86, Westernport, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born March 16, 1916, in Bloomington, she was a daughter of the late Clarence O. and Florence (Duckworth) Miller. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond P. Davis; her second husband, Thomas Tranum; one daughter, Donna Lee Mele; four brothers; and three sisters.
She was retired from Westvaco Corp., with 24 years of service, having worked in the finishing department. She was a life member of Victory Unit 155 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and a former member of Bloomington Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. She was Methodist by faith.
Surviving are one son, Robert A. "Packie" Tranum, McCoole; one daughter, Nancy E. Lee, Keyser, W.Va.; four sisters, Lottie Diaz, Luke, and Wanda Moorehead, Susie Rhodes, and Ada King, all of Keyser; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, today, Thursday, Nov. 14, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Donald Nelson officiating.
Interment was in the Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
