Myrtle R. Smith
MYERSVILLE, Md. - Myrtle R. Smith, 83, of Church Hill, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999 at Julia Manor Health Care Center, Hagerstown.
Born Feb. 3, 1916, in Wolfsville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Harry B. and Orpha R. Stottlemyer Eccard.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverly L. Nugent of Hagerstown and Sharon E. Biondi of Annapolis, Md.; three sisters, Mary May and Mamie Beardsworth, both of Hagerstown, and Marceline McElyea of Columbia, S.C.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Benny A. Boyer.
Memorial services will be announced.

William E. Snyder
YUMA, Ariz. - William Edward Snyder, 72, of 2266 E. Twenty-Seventh Lane, and formerly of Chambersburg, Pa., died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at La Mesa Care Center in La Mesa, Ariz.
Born April 9, 1927, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Edward B. and Mary B. Sites Snyder.
He was a program manager for the U.S. Army DARCOM LSSA at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, retiring in 1985.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Yuma, was an Adult Sunday School teacher, deacon and financial adviser. He had been a member of King Street United Brethren Church in Chambersburg.
He was a member of Disabled American Veterans; the American Legion; was a past commissioner of Boy Scouts of America; and helped organize Hamilton Heights Troop in Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Stumbaugh Snyder, whom he married
Feb. 6, 1948; a daughter, Susan Snyder Hernandez of Yuma; two sons, William T. Snyder of Miami, Fla., and Edward A. Snyder of Yuma; a sister, Mildred Snyder Ritter of Norristown, Pa.; a brother, John E. Snyder of Reisterstown, Md.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Maybelle Snyder Grim; and a granddaughter.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road in Chambersburg. The Revs. William T. Snyder and Paul B. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Chambersburg Mennonite Cemetery.
There will be no public viewing; the family will receive friends Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
A memorial service will be Friday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 101 W. 26th St. in Yuma. The Rev. Frank McCutcheon will officiate.

Daisy P. Powers
HANCOCK - Daisy P. Powers, 76, of Roberts Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 22, 1923, in Boswell, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William G. and Sadie Graham Barnhart.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Hancock United Methodist Church in Hancock.
She is survived by her husband, Donald F. Powers of Hancock; two sisters, Rosalie Barnhart of Hagerstown and Mary Mellott of Orlando, Fla.; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two infant sons; three sisters, Ethel Bowers, Vada Cubbage and Violet Himes; and three brothers, Willard Barnhart, Harry Barnhart and Herbert Barnhart.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St. in Hancock. The Rev. Robert G. Brennan Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Charlotte L. Ridenour
Charlotte L. Ridenour, 66, of 13804 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 21, 1933, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Willis Powell and Edna Grace Snyder Van Metre.
She was employed by Express Cleaners.
She was a Protestant.
She is survived by her husband, William D. "Dub" Ridenour; three daughters, Barbara A. Luther and Patti L. Goble, both of Hagerstown, and Donna L. Turner of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; three sons, Mark J. Grim, Michael A. Grim and William D. Ridenour II, all of Hagerstown; a sister, Minnie M. McGowan of Hagerstown; two brothers, Charles A. Van Metre of Downsville and Thomas S. Van Metre of Hagerstown; and 13 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas L. Grim; and a brother, Willis K. Van Metre.
Services will be Friday at 8:30 p.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Lauren H. Lay will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Nelson L. Ward Jr.
CLEAR SPRING - Nelson Lee "Butch" Ward Jr., 58, of 14520 National Pike, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 24, 1941, in Clear Spring, he was the son of the late Nelson Lee Ward and Teresa Catherine McKeown Ward Griffith.
He was a 1959 graduate of Clear Spring High School.
He retired from G.M. Parts Distribution Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was of the Catholic faith.
He was president of the Maryland Bass Federation and was active in the Federation's youth program. He helped with the annual Paralyzed Veterans Association Fishing Tournament on the lower Potomac River. He was a member of Hub City Bassmasters.
He played soccer in high school and with Mason Dixon Soccer League.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Ward; two sisters, Janet Cavanaugh and Brenda Jones, both of Hagerstown; one brother, Rick Short of Hagerstown; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. George A. Limmer will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's cemetery in Clear Spring.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Prayers will be offered at 7 p.m.

Georgetta C. Morgan
Georgetta Catherine Morgan, 85, of 14108 Zinnia Lane, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born June 27, 1914, in Keedysville, she was the daughter of the late Melvin David and Pearl Harriet Athey Reel.
Her husband, Roland H. "Shorty" Morgan, died in 1976.
She attended Boonsboro High School.
She was employed by Montgomery Ward as a fashion supervisor; and was manager for the Ormond shop. She owned and operated a ladies apparel shop.
After retirement, she was a caregiver.
She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, S. Dwight Morgan of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Donald L. Morgan; and two brothers, Melvin D. Reel and Douglas C. Reel.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. S. Scott Morgan will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven cemetery in Hagerstown.
