Virginia S. Wills
Virginia Shenk Wills, 92, of 149 Summit Ave., died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1999, at Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Home near Boonsboro.
Born Dec. 30, 1906, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Maud L. Barkdoll Shenk.
She was a 1925 graduate of Hagerstown High School; and a 1929 graduate of Hood College.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold F. Wills, in 1983.
A retired teacher, she taught at Woodland Way and Washington School.
She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church; and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, sang in the adult choir; and was a member of Senior Fellowship; Lutheran Church Women and Mary and Martha Bible Class.
She was a member of Hood Alumni Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary E. Haines of Hagerstown and Kathryn L. Daniel of Cross Junction, Va.; a son, Harold E. Wills of Hagerstown; and two sisters, Julia Belle Westphal and Letitia Bernhardt, both of Williamsport.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. The Rev. David R. Kaplan will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the church.

Charles R. Gearinger
FREDERICK, Md. - Charles Russell "Chuck" Gearinger, 75, of 200 Norva Ave., died Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 9, 1924, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Edward Russell and Edith Burrier Gearinger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jeanne Biser Gearinger, in 1982.
He was employed by Potomac Edison Co. from 1941 until retiring as chief accountant in the General Accounting Department in 1988.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of Quarter Century Club of Potomac Edison; Francis Scott Key Post 11 American Legion; VFW Post 3285 of Frederick; National Rifle Association; and World Wildlife Federation.
He is survived by three children, C. Michael Mitch Gearinger of Middletown, Del., David R. Gearinger of Frederick and Laura J. Mohr of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; two sisters, Anna Jane Michael of Walkersville, Md. and Mary Alice Hammond of Frederick; a brother, Robert E. Gearinger of Braddock Heights, Md.; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Robert E. Dailey and Son Funeral Home, 1201 N. Market St., Frederick. The Rev. James Coblentz will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick.
Visitation will be today from 1 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home; the family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Nora V. Trail
BALTIMORE - Nora Viola Trail, 99, of Baltimore, and formerly of Jefferson, Md., died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1999, at Frederick (Md.) Health Care Center.
Born Jan. 6, 1900, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Christina Silali. She was raised by the Burr Magaha family of Petersville, Md.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence A. Trail, in 1977.
She was of the Lutheran faith.
She is survived by a daughter, Louise Hahn of Jefferson; three sons, Burr W. Trail and Edward L. Trail, both of Baltimore, and Glen T. Trail of New Jersey; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna K. Neff; and two sons, Clarence Trail and Joseph Hayes Trail.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lutheran cemetery in Jefferson. The Rev. Virginia Price will officiate.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick. The funeral home will be open today from 9 a.m.
Martha R. Schaff
Martha Ruth Schaff, 87, of Julia Manor Nursing Home in Hagerstown, and formerly of Fahrney-Keedy Home in Boonsboro, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 11, 1912, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Emma R. Clugston Kauffman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A. Jay Schaff, in 1989.
She was employed by Porter Chemical Co.; and Diamond Dress Shop.
She was a member of Hagerstown Church of the Brethren; Personal Workers Sunday School Class; and Ruth Circle.
She was a member of Hagerstown Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star 89; American Legion Morris Frock Post 42 Auxiliary; and AARP.
She is survived by a sister, Janet Porterfield of Hagerstown; a niece; a nephew; and three great-nephews.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Dean M. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven cemetery in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Noama C. Baker
ORLANDO, Fla. - Noama C. Baker, 92, of Orlando, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at Mariner Nursing Home.
Born in Middletown Valley, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Stella Dean Remsburg.
She was a homemaker and seamstress.
She was a member of Christ Reformed Church in Hagerstown.
She is survived by one son, James R. Baker of Orlando.
Arrangements are by National Cremation Society in Winter Park, Fla.
Marian Mielu
Marian Mielu, 45, of 22 Haywood Circle, Hagerstown, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at his home.
Born July 30, 1954, in Arges, Romania, he was the son of Maria Mariud Mielu of Romania and the late Nicolae Mielu.
He was employed by Packaging Services, Inc.; and Tecksol U.S., Inc.
He was a member of the Apostolic Romanian Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Aurica Mielu; a son, Daniel Mielu of Hagerstown; a sister, Oita Matei of Romania; a brother, Ionel Mielu of Romania; and two nephews.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mary A. Ford
BOONSBORO - Mary Alice Higdon Ford, 78, of 7745 Old National Pike, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, at her home.
Born May 7, 1921, in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Pearl Higdon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Ashton Ford, in 1979.
She was a graduate of Strayer Business College.
She had been employed by J.B. Ferguson and Co.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Boonsboro.
She is survived by a daughter, Donna L. Ford of Boonsboro; three sons, L. Brenton Ford, Dale M. Ford and James A. Ford, all of Boonsboro; a brother, Douglas Higdon of Frederick, Md.; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, James Higdon, John Higdon and Frank Higdon.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Boonsboro Cemetery. The Rev. Joseph I. Donovan III will officiate.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
