Terry L. Jones
DAGSBORO, Del. - Terry Lee Jones, 58, of Dagsboro, and formerly of 112 Elm St., Hagerstown, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at his home.
Born Sept. 23, 1941, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Harold L. Jones and Hilda Mae Jones Kindall.
A self-employed draftsmen-engineer, he worked on the Ravens' stadium and the Federal Triangle Building, Washington, D.C.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by one daughter, Gabrielle A. Jones, at home; three sons, Terry L. Jones of Pasadena, Md., Brian M. Jones of Delaware, and Jeffrey Jones of York, Pa.; two sisters, Rebecca A. Ocker and Karol J. Meyers, both of Hagerstown; one brother, John F. Kindall of Hagerstown; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold W. Jones.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg. The Rev. Ron Myers will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Wilbur W. Black
Wilbur Walker "Bill" Black, 67, of 1146 Woodland Way, Hagerstown, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at his home.
Born May 10, 1932, in Johnstown, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry Wilbur and Madge Walker Black.
He was a graduate of Grove City (Pa.) College; and attended Fels Institute of Local and State Government, University of Pennsylvania.
He was the first city manager of Pocomoke City, Md.
He had been employed by Virginia Packaging and Supply Co. of McClean, Va.; D & G Container Inc. of Baltimore; and was self-employed. He drove for Washington County Commission on Aging.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
He was a member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge 378 and Alsatia Club.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary McElwain Black; one son, Thomas G. Black of Alexandria, Va.; two sisters, Madelyn B. Myers of Warren, Ohio, and Martha B. Craig of Punta Gorda, Fla.; and two grandsons.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Mark Curran will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Phyllis G. Thoerig
MT. SAVAGE, Md. - Phyllis Geraldine "Gerri" Roberts Thoerig, 82, of Mt. Savage, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born March 6, 1917, in Westfield, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Charles P. and Norma G. Brooks Roberts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore "Ted" Thoerig.
She was a graduate of Plainfield High School and Katherine Gibbs School.
She held administrative positions at John A. Beeler Organization; George A. Dewey and Sons, Inc.; Mutual Building and Loan Association; New Yorker Magazine; and East Orange Record. She also worked at Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company.
She is survived by two sons, Barry R. Thoerig of Stafford, Va., and Michael B. Thoerig of Clear Spring; eight grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Brooks Roberts and one granddaughter, Angela Marie Thoerig.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland.
The family will receive friends following the service until 9 p.m.

William F. Wade
William F. Wade, 55, of 427 Guilford Ave., died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 25, 1944, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Edgar F. and Mary E. Sowers Wade.
He was a member of South Hagerstown High School class of '62.
He was employed with Monumental Life Insurance Company as an insurance representative.
He was a member of Morris Frock Post 42 Sons of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Mary O. Saunders Wade; four sons, Paul D. Wade of Williamsport, John F. Wade of Hagerstown, Michael A. Wade of Frederick, Md., and J. Daniel Wade of Cumberland, Md.; one stepson, Michael E. Sease of Hagerstown; one brother, Richard Wade of Stamford, Conn.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Trumpower.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert S. Barton will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Western Pike.
Visitation will be held Tuesday one hour prior to the services.

Mary A. Sharer
Mary A. Sharer, 80, of 21 S. Mulberry St., Hagerstown, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Colton Villa Nursing Home.
Born Oct. 25, 1919, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Edward L. and Minnie V. Kline Kline.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark E. Sharer, in 1983.
She is survived by one sister, Connie J. Hasenbuhler of Hagerstown and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Kauffman, Nancy Myers and June Rudolph and one brother, Cody Kline.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Dean M. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday 30 minutes prior to the services.
Donald W. Hawks
Donald William Hawks, 60, of 10 West Side Ave., Hagerstown, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at his home.
Born July 20, 1939, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Leslie C. and Ethel Hawbaker Hawks.
He retired in 1999 from Washington County Roads Department.
He was a member of Eagles Club and Owls Club, both of Hagerstown.
He is survived by his wife, Genevieve M. Bee Hawks; two stepdaughters, Margaret E. Anderson and Patricia Dunkin, both of Hagerstown; two stepsons, Robert Sickler of Hagerstown and Jack Sickler of San Diego, five sisters, Betty Churchey, Jackie Hawks and Carol Poole, all of Hagerstown, Margaret Gessford and Joann Bryan, both of Williamsport; two brothers, Albert Hawks and Frank Hawks, both of Hagerstown; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
