Barbara J. Deason
Barbara J. Deason, 66, of 228 Summit Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, Nov. 9, 1999, at her home.
Born Feb. 14, 1933, in Tulsa, Okla., she was the daughter of the late Victor C. and Georgia I. Hail Dake.
She was a member of Fundamental Baptist Church.
She was a voting member of the Cherokee Nation.
She is survived by four daughters, Constance I. Quinn of Greencastle, Pa., Jamie M. Butts, Brigitte D. Tapp and Shelby R. Deason, all of Hagerstown; two sons, Edward W. Tapp of Hagerstown and Kelby S. Deason of Tulsa; two sisters, Carolyn Deason and Sondia Dake, both of Tulsa; three brothers, George Dake and Daniel Dake, both of Tulsa, and Ronald Dake of Chelsa, Okla.; and 16 grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Fundamental Baptist Church, 146 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Revs. Daniel H. Staley and Daniel P. Staley will officiate. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park in Tulsa.
There will be no visitation.
Arrangements are by Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home in Hagerstown.
Mamie V. Sollenberger
WILLIAMSPORT - Mamie Viola Sollenberger, 82, of 16366 Spielman Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born May 20, 1917, in Richmond Furnace, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Garfield and Ora Stains Butts.
She was previously employed by Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital, Randolph Hills Nursing Home in Silver Spring, Md., and W.T. Grant's.
She was a member of Halfway Senior Citizens Group.
She is survived by her husband, Solomon John Sollenberger; one daughter, Judy Lowe of Myersville, Md.; one son, Harry Sollenberger of Annapolis; one sister, Freida Zeger of Fort Loudon, Pa.; two brothers, James Butts and Warren Butts, both of Fort Loudon; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lena May Ortiz; a son, John Edgar Sollenberger; a sister, Zelda Evertts; and three brothers, Howard Butts, Elmer Butts and Marshall Butts.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Burial will be in Chambersburg Mennonite Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests the omission of flowers.
Elmer O. Lewis
Elmer O. "Whitey" Lewis, 76, of 10914 Gaywood Drive in Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 4, 1923, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Elmer P. and Winona V. Igo Lewis.
He had worked at Corderman's Hardware; Mack Trucks Inc.; and Fairchild Industries.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in Europe.
He was a member of Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion; and World War II Last Man's Club of the legion.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alice E. McNamee Lewis; and a daughter, Teresa E. Mickley of Hagerstown.
He was preceded in death by two stepbrothers, John A. Moore and Paul R. Moore.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Rose Hill cemetery with military honors by Morris Frock Post 42. The Rev. Sharon L. Forbes will officiate.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.
Bruce B. Gouker
MYERSVILLE, Md. - Bruce B. Gouker, 73, of Myersville, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at his home.
Born July 29, 1926, in Wolfsville, he was the son of the late Leon C. and Edna M. Brunner Gouker.
He retired in 1992 from R.F. Kline Inc. in Frederick, Md.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Grossnickle Church of the Brethren in Myersville.
He was a civil member of Maryland Troopers Association.
He is survived by his wife, E. Irene Blickenstaff Gouker; six children, Linda Speak and Angela Fisher, both of Myersville, Gerald Gouker, Sharon Magoun, Stephen Gouker and Douglas Gouker, all of Hagerstown; one sister, Gloria Wiles of Myersville; three brothers, Robert Gouker of Middletown, Harold Gouker of Florida and James Gouker of Sabillasville, Md.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Grossnickle Church of the Brethren in Myersville. The Rev. Tim Ritchie Martin will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville, today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Russell L. Younker
Russell Leonard Younker, 74, of 732 Guilford Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born May 21, 1925, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Simon and Cora Bivens Younker.
He owned and operated Mr. Russell Hair Stylist, Hagerstown, since 1952.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in World War II, and received the purple heart. He also served in the Korean War.
He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, and was chief usher.
He was a member of Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary Jean Younker; one daughter, Cynthia E. Teach of Hagerstown; two sons, Russell L. Younker Jr. of Hagerstown and Gary L. Herbert of Simpsonville, S.C.; four sisters, Dorothy Hull, Daisy Cassidy and Ida Hart, all of Hagerstown, and Esther Barnhart of Hancock; two brothers, Herbert Younker of Savage, Md., and David Younker of Selah, Wash.; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Reva Brannon and Rena Hart; and three brothers, Monroe Younker, Roy Younker and Alvin Younker.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 802 Summit Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. Dennis L. Upton will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.

Cheyenne M. Stalzer
BRUNSWICK, Md. - Cheyenne Moon Stalzer, infant daughter of Kenneth Joseph Stalzer and Erin Kelly Finnigan of 77 Wenner Drive, Brunswick, Md., died Saturday Nov. 6, 1999, at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Md.
She was born Nov. 6, 1999.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by one brother, Cody Stalzer, at home; paternal grandparents, Lynn and Joseph Stalzer of Hawley, Pa.; maternal grandparents, Diane and Bobby Hahn of Brunswick; maternal grandmothers, Viola Roberts of Washington, D.C., and Assunta Finnigan of Raynham, Mass.; paternal great-grandparents, Ken and Marion Karlson of Bethany, Pa.; maternal great-grandparents, Paul and Ethel Testerman of Frederick; and maternal great-grandmother, Loretta Hahn of Frederick.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Brownsville Heights Cemetery, Brownsville, Md. The Rev. Clark D. Carr will officiate.
There will be no visitation.

Kenneth A. Reecher
LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. - Col. Kenneth A. Reecher, 80, of Lake Oswego, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, of Parkinson's disease and complications.
Born Nov. 8, 1918, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron E. Reecher.
He attended Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock, Va.; and the University of Maryland.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force based in England, he flew B-17 bombers; and served within the Strategic Air Command. He retired in 1970. He received the Legion of Merit Medal plus ribbon; the European Campaign Medal and World War II Medal with ribbons and Oak Leaf Clusters. He received numerous commendations.
He was a member of Church of the Brethren of Hagerstown.
He is survived by his wife, Lorane Ketchie Reecher of Lake Oswego; two daughters, Sharman Reecher of San Ramon, Calif., and Shelley Reecher of Seattle, Wash.
He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters.
Burial with full military honors was in Willamette National cemetery near Portland.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to Parkinson Research Center, Oregon Health and Science University, Portland, OR 97201-99.
Arrangements were made by Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Wilsonville, Ore.
