Cleo I. Smith
Cleo Irene Smith, 74, a resident of Colton Villa Nursing Center, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Nov. 17, 1924, in Cavetown, she was the daughter of the late Desamore O. and Gertrude R. Barkman Toms.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Smithsburg.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Lee Smith Sr.; three daughters, Sandra Shoemaker, Shirley Sadler and Suzanne Smith, all of Hagerstown; three sons, Ricky Smith of Smithsburg, Harold L. Smith Jr. of Hagerstown and Paul K. Sadler Jr. of Greensburg, Md.; three brothers, Raymond Toms and William Toms, both of Hagerstown, and Ralph Toms of Pennsylvania; two granddaughters; three grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and a great-grandson.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Fred M. Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Virginia L. Moore
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Virginia L. Moore, 70, of 1002 Third St., died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999, at Wood County Nursing Home in Bowling Green.
Born June 22, 1929, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Paul L. and Della I. Jolley Cessna.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Moore. They were married
Dec. 9, 1950.
She was a housewife.
She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
She is survived by three nieces and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Marland; and a brother, Paul Cessna.
Service will be Monday at 4 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Bowling Green. The Rev. Dale Schaefer will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Burial Park in Cumberland.
There will be no visitation.

Orabelle H. Gross
Orabelle Huberta Gross, 80, of 1057 Beechwood Drive, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999, at National Lutheran Home in Rockville, Md.
Born July 10, 1919, in Funkstown, she was the daughter of the late Hubert Ragan and Fern Onedia Stotler South.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Howell Gross Sr., in 1988.
She previously was employed by Washington County Hospital; and the Hagerstown City Hall.
She was a member and Sunday School teacher at St. John's Lutheran Church. She also was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the church.
She was a member of Daughters of the Nile No. 118; Order of the Eastern Star Hagerstown Chapter No. 89; and Tall Cedars of Lebanon.
She formerly was active in Federal Little League and Pony League.
She is survived by two sons, Ragan E. Gross and Samuel H. Gross, both of Springfield, Va.; two brothers, Donald A. South and C. William South, both of Hagerstown; and five grandchildren.
Service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 141 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Edward H. Heim will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Memorial services will be conducted Sunday by members of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 89 at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

George W. Draper
George William Draper, 82, of 1138 Cottage Court, Hagerstown, died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 7, 1917, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Jesse Wolford and Mary Kitzmiller Draper.
He was employed by Fairchild Aircraft, retiring in 1983.
He was a life member of Christ's Reformed Church.
He was a member of Southern Engineering Society, where he held many offices.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Hilda G. Draper; a daughter, Jeanne Annette Draper Embree of Hudson, Ohio; a son, Dennis Wolford Draper of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
Service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Don R. Stevenson will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven cemetery in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Earl D. Anderson
Earl David Anderson, 87, of 17616 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999, at Williamsport Retirement Village.
Born Sept. 1, 1912, in Halfway, he was the son of the late David Charles and Bessie Leona Cole Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margie Geraldine Snook Anderson, in 1996.
He was a 1930 graduate of Williamsport High School.
He was employed as a commercial and technical illustrator by Fairchild Aircraft, retiring in 1978.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp.
He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Williamsport.
He was a member of Medairy Lodge No. 140 AF & AM of Williamsport; AARP; Emmet Kelly Tent Circus Fans Association of America; and Circus Model Builders Association.
He is survived by a son, Randall Earl Anderson of Hagerstown; a sister, Jean Marie Brake of Mercersburg, Pa.; three brothers, Paul A. Anderson and Dale C. Anderson, both of Williamsport and Ted L. Anderson of Spring Grove, Pa.; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Glen O. Anderson.
Service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St. in Williamsport. The Rev. W. Gregory Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery in Williamsport.

John H. Reed
John Harrison Reed, 72, of 10838 Allen Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999, at Western Maryland Hospital Center.
Born Sept. 6, 1927, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Roy Harrison and Pearl Alberta Lum Reed.
He was employed by Potomac Edison Co., retiring in 1990.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Reed; a son, Dennis Lynn Reed of Hagerstown; two sisters, Mary Summers and Joan Pitsnogle, both of Hagerstown; a grandson; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Reed Plotner; and a brother, Paul R. Reed.
Service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Richard A. Gross will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
