Mary E. Canfield
Mary Elizabeth Fair Canfield, 79, of Stonecroft Court, Hagerstown, died Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at her home.
Born Dec. 21, 1919, in York, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Delton Ray and Mabel McNamee Fair.
She attended schools in Middletown, Md., and York, Pa., and was a graduate of Middletown High School
She was an office worker for Fairchild Aircraft, a receptionist and chair-side assistant for Guy P. Burkett, D.D.S. in Hagerstown, and an executive housekeeper in the hotel business in Chicago, Los Angeles, U.S. Virgin Islands and Washington, D.C., area. In recent years, she worked as a hostess for Po' Folks and Denny's restaurants in Hagerstown.
She was a member of the Sunday Night Mixed League at Dual Lanes in Hagerstown.
She is survived by her former husband, Hoye E. Brandenburg of Hagerstown; two daughters, Anita K. Harshman of Wolfsville, Md., and Sue F. Gaspin of Silver Spring, Md.; one sister, Norma J. Beitzel of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Mararet Kiriakis.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Salem United Methodist Church in Wolfsville. Pastor Randy Reid will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 12477 Wolfsville Road, Myersville, MD 21773; or to Hospice of Washington County, 101 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, MD 21742.

Rayetta M. Bowers
KEEDYSVILLE - Rayetta Marie Bowers, 73, of 5855 Red Hill Road, died Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at her home.
Born Oct. 2, 1926, in Pleasantville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Ray Leo Griffith and Mabel Irene Jackson Griffith Holmes.
Her husband, Robert Francis Bowers Sr., died Aug. 5, 1998.
She is survived by three daughters, Darlene Eichelberger and Ginny Wagner, both of Boonsboro, and Ava Gift of Keedysville; one stepdaughter, Linda Haberkem of Baltimore; three sons, Errol Butch Griffith of Keedysville, Robert F. Bowers Jr. of Sharpsburg and Rickie C. Bowers of Hagerstown; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Beichler; and by one granddaughter.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Terry E. Marshall will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Timothy D. Munson Jr.
WILLIAMSPORT - Timothy Dean Munson Jr., 21, of Williamsport, died Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at Indian Springs Wildlife Management Area in Indian Springs, Md.
Born April 18, 1978, in Washington County, he was the son of Timothy Dean Sr. and Alexis Scarlett McAllister Munson.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Helen McAllister of Hagerstown, and his paternal grandmother, Betty Lynn of Hagerstown.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John W. McAllister; and paternal grandfather, Edwin E. Munson Sr.
Services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. S. Dwight Morgan will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
June D. Martin
June Doris Martin, 79, of 13035 Little Antietam Road, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born June 21, 1920, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Roy S. and Mary Spidell Mundey.
Her husband of 46 years, John K. Martin, died in 1995.
She was previously employed with Lena Darner Boutique and Hagerstown Realty Co.
She was a golden member of Grace United Methodist Church, and Willing Workers Sunday School Class.
She was a member of Women's Club, and AARP.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Campbell; one stepmother, Bessie McClay Mundey, and one stepbrother, Harold Battee.
Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Revs. Robert S. Barton and Wayne L. Schwanke will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 30 minutes prior to the service.

Joseph Paul Proksa
Joseph Paul Proksa, 85, of 18802 Rolling Road, died Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at Nason Hospital in Roaring Springs, Pa.
Born June 30, 1914, in Duquesne, Pa., he was the son of the late John and Mary Matusovic Proksa.
His wife, Eleanor I. Clegg Proksa, died in 1987.
He was a 1934 graduate of Duquesne High School, a 1938 graduate of Penn State University and received a master's degree from University of Maryland in 1960.
He was a professional basketball player with Duquesne Big Five and Conoco Oilers of Hagerstown. In pre-NBA days, he played for Duquesne Big Five against the Harlem Globetrotters and New York Knicks in the World's Professional Basketball Tournament in Chicago. He worked for Atlantic Refining Co. from 1953 to 1954 developing a program to encourage public schools to add drivers' education to school curriculums. He was a teacher and basketball coach at Penn Hills High School in Pittsburgh suburbs, Coatesville High School in Coatesville, Pa., and North Hagerstown High School, from 1954 to 1976, when he retired. He served as Washington County district court commissioner from 1977 to 1983.
He was an ensign in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
He was a member of Fountain Head Country Club, Morris Frock American Legion Post 42, B.P.O. Elks Lodge 398, Suburban Kiwanis Club, Penn State Alumni Association and was a volunteer with Johns Hopkins University Field Center.
He is survived by one daughter, Pamela J. Patt of Hollidaysburg, Pa.; one son, Joseph Preston Proksa of Greenwich, Conn.; three grandchildren; and one nephew.
Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hagerstown. The Rev. David M. Buchenroth will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.

Dorothy V. Royce
Dorothy Virginia Royce, 74, of 219 N. Cleveland Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 17, 1925, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Catherine H. Hastings.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee H. Royce Jr.
She was previously employed with Washington County Hospital and Western Maryland Hospital.
She is survived by two sons, Terry Myers and William K. Myers, both of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, David Hastings and one son, Robert W. Myers.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Daniel Jordan will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
