Jack C. Stoner Jr.
Jack Carlisle Stoner Jr., 51, of 289 Frederick St., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Feb. 4, 1948, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Jack C. and Margaret Louise Pugh Stoner Sr.
He was a 1966 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.
He served two years in the U.S. Army.
Upon completion of his military service, he was employed by Goddard Space Center in Beltsville, Md. He joined the Hagerstown City Police Department, serving from 1972 to 1975. He worked for U.P.S., W.D. Byron Sons Inc., and Rockwell in Columbus, Ohio. In 1985, he became a member of Fort Detrick Police Department, holding the rank of lieutenant since 1990. He was watch commander of the evening shift. During his career, he received numerous accommodations and awards.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Kathey M. Kiser Stoner; a daughter, Susan Michelle Stoner of Greencastle, Pa.; and a son, Shawn Michael Stoner at home.
A service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Arvel J. Barrett will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, with full police honors.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Joan M. Wieland
Joan Marie Wieland, 70, of 18538 Indian Cottage Road, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at her home.
Born June 7, 1929, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John Alfred and Edna May Fetzer Kanaga.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and a choir member.
She is survived by two daughters, Melissa Ward of Selinsgrove, Pa., and Gretchen Wieland of Los Angeles; a son, Darryl Wieland of Columbia, S.C.; two sisters, Barbara Roach of Oxford, Mass., and Sara Simpson of Chevy Chase, Md.; and a grandson.
A memorial service will be Saturday, Oct. 30, at noon at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. David M. Buchenroth will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Ollie B. Wellinger
POCOMOKE CITY, Md. - Ollie Bogue Wellinger, 105, of Pocomoke City and formerly of Hagerstown, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield, Md.
Born in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Mary Bogue.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Frank Wellinger.
She retired from Eyerlys Department Store.
She was a lifelong member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Hagerstown.
She is survived by a daughter, Doris Olsen of Pocomoke City; a grandson; three great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at Rosehill cemetery in Hagerstown.
The family requests the omission of flowers.

John R. Waltrick
John Robert "Budda" Waltrick, 66, of Hagerstown and Salisbury, Md., died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Beulah Mae Cox Waltrick.
He was employed by Mack Trucks, retiring in 1991.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patricia Ann Hoffer Waltrick; three sons, Charles Brent Waltrick of Falling Waters, W.Va., John Jay Waltrick of Hagerstown and adopted son Glenn Owen Ford of Hagerstown; three sisters, Violet Gibbons of Hagerstown, Margaret Jacobs of Waynesboro, Pa., and Nettie Lou Cribb of Jacksonville, Fla.; a stepsister, Wanda Sommerfeld; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles N. Waltrick, and stepmother, Elsie Waltrick.
Services will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made in his memory to a charity of one's choice.

Fay E. Baker
Fay Ellsworth Baker, 74, of 30 Avalon Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at 308 E. Magnolia Ave., Hagerstown.
Born March 13, 1925, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late William Henry and Helen G. Hoover Baker Sr.
His wife, Eleanor Jean Baker, died in 1997.
He was employed by Western Maryland Railway.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army.
He attended Trinity Full Gospel Church.
He was a member of Western Maryland Oldtimers, American Legion Morris Frock Post 42, and V.F.W. Post 1936.
He is survived by three daughters, Cathie Bowers, Renee Atha and Lisa Baker, all of Hagerstown; three sons, Robert Baker and Brent Baker, both of Hagerstown, and Kevin Baker of Virginia; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, William Henry Baker Jr.
A service will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Samuel C. Fendley will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, with graveside military services conducted by members of American Legion Morris Frock Post No. 42.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
