Frances E. Richards
BALTIMORE - Frances E. Richards, 49, of Baltimore, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at her home.
Born in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of Carlton Edwards and Lovey Burger of Martinsburg.
She was a member of Hampden Baptist Church in Baltimore.
She is survived by her husband, Roger Richards; three sons, Bobby Keller, Mike Keller and Tony Milburn; a stepsister; a brother; three stepbrothers; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Burgee-Henss-Seitz Funeral Home, 3631 Falls Road, Baltimore. The Rev. Keller will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery in Baltimore.
The family will receive friends Saturday and Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Thurman B. Shank
BOONSBORO - Thurman B. Shank, 80, of Boonsboro, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at his home.
Born Oct. 2, 1919, in Myersville, Md., he was the son of the late Albert and Eva Harshman Shank.
He was a retired crane operator and formerly worked for C.W. Hetzer, Bester and Long and Brayden Stine, all of Hagerstown.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in Okinawa.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Myersville.
He also was a member of VFW Post 36 in Hagerstown, AMVETS Post 9 in Middletown, Md., American Legion Post 10 in Boonsboro and AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Bonita Young Shank; a son, Thurman B. Shank Jr. of Hagerstown; a sister, Lucille Englebrecht of Myersville; a brother, Richard Shank of Baltimore; two granddaughters; three great-granddaughters; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Maurice Shank, Ernest Shank and Norman Shank.
Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville. Pastor David Howell will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Myersville.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Glenn E. Knable
HANCOCK - Glenn E. Knable, 71, of Corner Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Born June 23, 1928, near Clear Spring, he was the son of the late Louis C. Knable and Olive Virginia Robinson Knable Alton.
He retired from Maryland Correctional Institution, where he worked as a specialty correctional maintenance officer II. Previously, he had been employed by Fairchild Aircraft.
He was a member of Orchard Ridge First Church of God in Hancock.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Elizabeth Shoemaker Knable of Hancock; a daughter, Jeanie Truax of Darksville, Miss.; three sons, James E. Knable of Hagerstown, Dave Knable of Clear Spring and Dale Knable of Hancock; two brothers, Louis C. Knable Jr. and Joseph Knable, both of Hancock; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby E. Knable.
Service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Orpah A. Graham
HANCOCK - Orpah A. Graham, 76, of Weller Road, Hancock, died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at Julia Manor Health Care Center in Hagerstown.
Born May 23, 1923, near Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Emmert L. and Blanche M. Myers Keefer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Owen Graham, in 1975.
She was a farmer and homemaker.
She was a member of Rehobeth United Methodist Church near Hancock.
She is survived by a daughter, Janet I. Woyick of Hagerstown; three sons, Gerald O. Graham and Wesley L. Graham, both of Big Pool, and Vernon C. Graham of Hancock; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Rehobeth United Methodist Church, Tollgate Ridge Road. The Revs. Frank Kocek and Dennis Whitmore will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, and Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Louise B. Durbin
Louise Belle Durbin, 83, of 11403 Stonecroft Court, Hagerstown, and formerly a resident of Baltimore for 40 years, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 28, 1916, in Leitersburg, she was the daughter of the late Elmer E. and Cora S. Corderman Durbin.
She was employed by Horn and Horn Restaurant in Baltimore, retiring in 1986. Previously, she was employed by Fairchild Aircraft in the cafeteria.
She was a Protestant.
She is survived by five sisters, Mable Taylor of Bloomsburg, Pa., Margaret Gearhart of State Line, Pa., and Ruth Shank, Betty Domer and Nancy Starliper, all of Hagerstown; a brother, Harold Durbin of Hagerstown; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl Sigler and Ethel Swartz; and two brothers, Oscar Durbin and Roy Durbin.
At Miss Durbin's request, her body was donated to the Maryland Anatomical Board.
A memorial service will be announced later.
The family requests the omission of flowers.

David W. Mentzer
David Wayne Mentzer, 43, of 502 Bentley Court, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at his home.
Born March 20, 1956, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of Josephine Reynolds Mentzer of Sandy Hook and the late Theodore Quentin Mentzer.
A carpenter, he worked for Kaufman Enterprises in Walkersville, Md.
He was a member of Church of God.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his companion of 16 years, Lois A. Painter; two daughters, Heidi Nicole Mentzer at home and Krista Marie Mentzer of Frederick; four sisters, Donna Eagle of Kearneysville, W.Va., Beth Cannon and Serena Beachley, both of Sandy Hook, and Sheena Compher of Glen Burnie, Md.; a brother, Butch Mentzer of Burkittsville, Md.; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Samples Manor Church of God in Samples Manor. The Rev. Ed Wade will officiate. Burial will be in Samples Manor Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. both today and Friday at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, 970 Washington St., Harpers Ferry, W.Va.
