Lloyd J. McCullough
HANCOCK - Lloyd Joseph McCullough, 83, of Hancock and formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 17, 1916, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Lee and Mary Elizabeth Bishop McCullough.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Trozzo McCullough.
He retired from B&O Railroad, where he worked as a fireman.
He is survived by his second wife, Dorothy S. Wolford McCullough; a son, Robert L. McCullough of Bedford, Pa.; four stepsons, Earl F. Eaton Jr. and Robert Wolford, both of Flintstone, Md., Ted Wolford of Hagerstown and Mike Wolford of Hancock; five stepdaughters, JoAnn Michael of Cumberland, Mary Ann Bishop of Hagerstown, Faye Reed of Hancock, Irma Seguin of Floresville, Texas, and Mary Lou McGill of Williamsport; a sister, Dorothy Snyder of Short Gap, W.Va.; a brother, William McCullough of Cumberland; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; great-great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Grey McCullough.
A service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland. Pastor Dave Hattenfield will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Cumberland.
Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Alvey W. Reid
BOONSBORO - Alvey William Reid, 89, of 8507 Mapleville Road and formerly of 201 Della Lane, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at Fahrney-Keedy Home near Boonsboro.
Born Jan. 22, 1910, in Gapland, Md., he was the son of the late James Russell Reid and Cora Naomi Mullendore Reid Keefer.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Mildred May Hutzell Reid, in September 1999.
He had been a livestock dealer and farmer.
He was a member of Brownsville Church of the Brethren.
He was a former president of the Farmers' Livestock Exchange, and a member of the Board of Directors of Boonsboro Bank and Hagerstown Trust Company from 1951 until his retirement.
He is survived by a daughter, Virginia M. Morgan of Boonsboro; a son, Donald L. Reid of Boonsboro; a brother, James R. Reid Jr. of Hagerstown; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
A service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Harvey T. Gladhill
Harvey Thorton Gladhill, 78, of 19833 Jeffery Drive, Hagerstown, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Nov. 25, 1920, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Harvey Washington and Naomi Saylor Gladhill.
He was a self-employed building contractor.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of American Legion Post No. 0297 of Maryland and BPO Elks Lodge No. 378.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, B. Marie Gladhill; three sons, Jeffrey L. Gladhill and Gary S. Gladhill, both of Hagerstown, and James S. Gladhill of Waynesboro, Pa.; a sister, Ruth Rachael Alter of Smithsburg; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. John D. Alfriend will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Hagerstown.

Julia Becker
GAITHERSBURG, Md. - Julia Becker, 86, of Asbury Methodist Village, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at Wilson Health Care Center.
Born Aug. 10, 1913, in Brockton, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Amedeo and Mary Perry Michienzi Mackenzie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil Joseph Becker. They were married
Sept. 1, 1940.
During the 1930s and 1940s she worked at the family shoe repair business, Palais Royale, located in the Woodward and Lothrop Department Store in downtown Washington.
She was active in the Lioness Club, where she edited the newsletters, worked at the Apple Festivals and portrayed Mrs. Santa Claus during the holidays.
She is survived by three children, Rose Marie Lanier of Concord, N.H., John J. Becker of Breese, Ill., and Joseph E. Becker of Damascus; a sister, Bertha Melick of Hancock; a brother, Amedeo Junior Mackenzie of Silver Spring; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Emil Joseph Becker; a sister, Stella Moon; and two brothers, Frank Mackenzie and John Mackenzie.
A service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 27015 Ridge Road in Damascus.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Damascus cemetery in Hancock.
Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Olin L. Molesworth Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road in Damascus.

Norton R. Cooper
Norton R. Cooper, 65, of Donnybrook Drive, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at his home.
Born June 20, 1934, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Joe and Mary Cohen Cooper.
He moved to Hagerstown from New York with Dorbee Manufacturing in 1967. He was currently employed by Bankers Life and Casualty as a sales agent.
He was a member of the Congregation B'Nai Abraham, where he served on the board.
He was a member of the Adult Athletic Committee of YMCA, the Commission on Aging Senior Fair Committee and the Sunrise Rotary Club.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra H. Cooper; two sons, Warren J. Cooper of Valley Stream, N.Y., and David M. Cooper of Great Falls, Va.; and three grandsons.
Services will be held Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. Rabbi Janice Garfunkel will officiate. Burial will be in B'Nai Abraham cemetery in Halfway.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday one-half hour before services.
The family requests the omission of flowers.
