Theodore H. Hebb Sr.
FREDERICK, Md. - Theodore Henry "Ted" Hebb Sr., 94, of 6907 Chokeberry Court and formerly of Sharpsburg, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at Northampton Manor in Frederick.
Born Nov. 20, 1904, in Sharpsburg, he was the son of the late Augustus Asbury and Nettie May Hetzel Hebb.
He was employed by Noland Co. until retiring in 1969. Earlier, he was employed by Hagerstown Shoe Co.
He was a member of Battlefield Bible Church in Fairplay. He was a founding member and deacon of the church.
He was a member of the Sharpsburg Lions Club, where he received the Melvin Jones Fellow for Humanitarian Award Lions International; a charter member of Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Company; and he organized the Sharpsburg Troop No. 51 Boy Scouts Association.
He is survived by his wife, Mae T. Hutson Hebb; a son, Theodore H. Hebb Jr. of New Market, Md.; a grandson, Jeremy T. Hebb of Boston; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Starliper, Esther Gamperl and Pearl Kipe; and two brothers, James Hebb and Frederick Hebb.
A service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Battlefield Bible Church, 7708 Sharpsburg Pike in Fairplay. Pastor Henry A. Lutz will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View cemetery in Sharpsburg.
Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St. in Williamsport. The funeral home will be open Sunday after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.
The family requests the omission of flowers.

Charles V. Rowe Jr.
Charles Victor Rowe Jr., 74, of 18437 Woodside Drive, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at Colton Villa Nursing Center.
Born Jan. 21, 1925, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Charles Victor Sr. and Mabel Shumaker Rowe.
He was a retired educator with the Washington County Board of Education, teaching most of his career at North Hagerstown High School and Boonsboro High School. He also taught for several years with the Frederick County Board of Education.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Williamsport United Methodist Church.
He was a member of American Legion Post 202 in Williamsport, the Washington County Retired Teachers Association and the National Education Association, and a former member and past president of the Washington County Teachers Association.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elaine V. Stottlemyer Rowe; one daughter, Barbara E. Middlekauff of Greencastle, Pa.; two sons, Charles V. Rowe III and Andrew A. Rowe, both of Hagerstown; three sisters, Margaret Rhodes, Betty Harr and Rosalie Horchner, all of Williamsport; one brother, Homer Rowe of Sharpsburg; and two grandsons.
Memorial services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Richard A. Kroll will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View cemetery in Sharpsburg.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Doris A. Whittington
Doris Ann Whittington, 51, of 11901 Greenhill Drive, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 5, 1948, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Archie C. and Helen Louise Kinzer Kerns.
She was previously employed by Washington County Hospital.
She attended Grace Brethren Church.
She was a member of Y-ME.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel Whittington; three sons, Samuel G. Whittington II of Vienna, Va., and Michael C. Whittington and Jeffrey T. Whittington, both of Hagerstown; a stepdaughter, Chris Hitchcock of Waynesboro, Pa.; a sister, Robin Clara Kerns of Owings Mills, Md.; a brother, John Valgene of Hagerstown; a grandson; and two step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Clayton Kerns.
A service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Denny Brown and the Rev. Robert L. Dell will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Albert D. Shoemaker
DIXON, Ill. - Albert D. Shoemaker, 56, of Dixon, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon.
Born March 2, 1943, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Clarence and Linda Burker Shoemaker.
He worked for Crest Foods Inc.
He is survived by two daughters, Donna Shoemaker and Christine Shoemaker, both of Hagerstown; a son, Michael Shoemaker of Joppa, Md.; three sisters, Virginia Reeder and Barbara Jones, both of Boonsboro, and Marlene Gardner of Hagerstown; two brothers, David Shoemaker of Hagerstown and Mark Shoemaker of Smithsburg; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Z. Shoemaker Jr.
There will be no service or visitation. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Virginia C. Wiebel
Virginia C. Wiebel, 77, of 124 W. Howard St., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at her home.
Born Oct. 16, 1921, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Anna B. Cook Langenstein.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward E. Wiebel Sr., in 1984.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She is survived by a son, Edward E. Wiebel Jr. of Boonsboro; three sisters, Rose M. Plume, Margaret B. Foreman and Joanne P. Kline, all of Hagerstown; a brother, Joseph K. Langenstein of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at noon at Rose Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Jack Fullen will officiate.
There will be no visitation.

Irene H. Mann
HANCOCK - Irene Helen Price Mann, 85, of Washington Street, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at Colton Villa Nursing Center in Hagerstown.
Born Dec. 15, 1913, in Belle Grove, Md., she was the daughter of the late James B. and Sarah Norris Price.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Henry Mann, in 1946.
She was employed as a school lunch manager by the Allegany Board of Education at Piney Plains School; at Hancock Elementary and Hancock High School; and from Baltimore County Schools from 1960 until her retirement in 1978.
She was a member of Piney Plains United Methodist Church in Little Orleans, Md.; and attended Hancock United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Geraldine V. Popenoe of Hancock; a sister, Almeda Price Norris of Hancock; four granddaughters; five great-grandsons; a great-great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Blanche Beatty, Frances Sigel and Bertha Bowman.
Services will be Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Piney Plains United Methodist Church in Little Orleans. The Rev. Scott Summers will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the church.
