Edna K. Boarman
WOODSBORO, Md. - Edna Knighten Boarman, 88, of Woodsboro, and formerly of Berkeley County, W.Va., died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 22, 1910, in Berkeley County, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Bettie Eaton Knighten.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank T. Boarman.
She was formerly employed by Interwoven Mills; and was a homemaker.
She attended Independent Bible Church of Martinsburg, W.Va.; and Calvary Assembly of God of Frederick.
She is survived by three daughters, Betty J. Miles and Darlene Shipper, both of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Mary Lou Hubbard of Woodsboro; two sons, Raymond T. Boarman of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Maurice D. Boarman of Hedgesville, W.Va.; two sisters, Julia Kramerage of Martinsburg and Mary Myers of Falling Waters; a brother, Andrew Knighten of Hagerstown; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Anna Jordan, Mamie Hoover, Grace O'Dell and Flossie Fries; five brothers, Walter Knighten, Harvey Knighten, Henry Knighten, Samuel Knighten and Michael T. Knighten; a granddaughter; and two grandsons.
Services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. Pastor Mark D. Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Barbara J. Barry
TAMPA, Fla. - Barbara Jane Castle Barry, 63, of Brandon, Fla., died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999.
Born in Havre de Grace, Md., she was the daughter of the late Robert L. Castle and Barbara L. Beard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Barry, in 1996.
She was a homemaker.
She was of the Lutheran faith.
She was a graduate of Williamsport High School.
She is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Lynn Morrissey of La Belle, Fla., and Leslie Kay Moffler of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; two sons, J. Craig Barry of Seminole, Fla., and B. Keith Barry of Yorktown, Va.; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service with burial will be at Cedar Hill cemetery in Suitland, Md.
Helen I. Long
Helen Irene Long, 90, of 333 Mill St., Hagerstown, and formerly of 11 W. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born June 29, 1909, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Oliver Oscar and Margaret Bell Myers McPherson.
She was employed by Beachley Furniture; Kings Department Store; and Hagerstown Laundry.
She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Thomas E. Long; two daughters, Lillian Wood of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Brenda L. Moore of Clear Spring; a son, Richard Bloyer of Hagerstown; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters.
A graveside service will be today at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. Allen A. Craig will officiate.
There will be no viewing.

Frank L. Rudolph
WILLIAMSPORT - Frank L. Rudolph, 84, of 16635 Longstreet Drive, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 13, 1915, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Frank L. and Bessie M. Stinebaugh Rudolph.
He was an engineer for Western Maryland Railway, retiring in 1980.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard.
He was a member of Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion; Masonic Medary Lodge AF & AM No. 140 of Williamsport; he was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of Ali Ghan of Cumberland; a charter member of Sahara Unit, Tall Cedars of Lebanon No. 95 and Hill Billy Clan No. 42; a member of Eagles Inc. of Waynesboro, Pa.; old timers life member of Beaver Creek Golf Club; and M.I.S.G.A.
He is survived by his wife, Adina Fowler Rudolph; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be today from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with a Masonic memorial service at 7 p.m.

Oliver S. Cool
EDGEMONT, Md. - Oliver S. Cool, 85, of Edgemont Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at Colton Villa Nursing Center.
Born Nov. 23, 1913, in Edgemont, Md., he was the son of the late Samuel F. and Susan L. Ott Cool.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora B. Price Cool, in 1992.
He owned and operated Cool's Farm.
He was a life member of F.O.E. Aerie 1758 in Waynesboro, Pa., serving as president, secretary, treasurer and trustee.
He is survived by a son, C. Samuel Cool of Edgemont; a sister, Mary G. Sigler of Smithsburg; two brothers, Maurice D. Cool of Waynesboro and Murray Cool of Smithsburg; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at Price's cemetery near Waynesboro at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg.
Earl R. Duffey
Earl Richard Duffey, 72, of 18710 Northridge Drive, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at Fahrney-Keedy Home, Boonsboro.
Born Dec. 10, 1926, in Leitersburg, he was the son of Evelyn Lenore Detrow Duffey, of Fahrney-Keedy Home, and the late Clarence Dewey Duffey.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace E. Johnston Duffey, in 1990. They were married
Aug. 3, 1944.
He attended Leitersburg school.
He was a truck driver for Hagerstown Motor Express Inc. and Hall's Trucking. Prior to retiring in August 1988, he drove for Smith's Transfer.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
He was a member of Welty Church of the Brethren in Smithsburg.
He was a member of Hagerstown VFW Post 1936; and Teamsters Local 992.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Mary E. Klitch of Hagerstown; a son, Earl E. Duffey of Waynesboro; a sister, Marie F. Wolinski of Baltimore; three brothers, Eugene A. Duffey Sr. of Clear Spring, Roy C. Duffey of Tucson, Ariz., and Donald R. Duffey of Waynesboro; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a grandson.
Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. C. Dean Mouk will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill cemetery in Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
