FLOSSIE F. VanSICKLE
Flossie F. VanSickle, 87, Friendsville, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born Aug. 26, 1916, in Friendsville, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Savage and Sarah (Kelley) Savage. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 65 years, Lawrence VanSickle, Jan. 25, 1997; three brothers; and three sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was a member of Laurel Run Church of God for many years. She reared three grandchildren. She worked mostly for her son as a cook at Parley's Cafeteria for 32 years.
Surviving are three children, Parley VanSickle, Bethesda, Wayne VanSickle, Friendsville, and Hazel VanSickle, at home; four grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Friendsville, where a service was conducted on Monday, Jan. 26, with the Rev. Harvey Havens officiating.
Interment was in Blooming Rose Cemetery.

FREDA M. MOSER
Freda Margaret Moser, 92, Accident, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at Meyersdale Medical Center, Meyersdale, Pa.
Born June 12, 1911, in Cove, she was the daughter of the late August and Catherine Anna (Schievel) George. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Steward M. Moser, June 3, 1983. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church (ELCA), Cove, and was a homemaker.
Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, where a service was held Tuesday, Jan. 27, with the Rev. Roland E. Nairn III officiating.
Interment was in Grantsville Cemetery.

LEONA E. FADLEY
Leona Elizabeth Fadley, 89, formerly of Cumberland, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, in the Potomac Valley Hospital.
Born June 16, 1914, in Blaine, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Anna (Noonan) Seaman. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Oliver Flanigan and Hubert Flanigan; and two brothers, Woodrow Seaman and William Seaman.
Surviving are three sons, Robert Flanigan, Elk Garden, W.Va., Danny Flanigan, Charleston, W.Va., and Allen Fadley, Cumberland; one sister, Dorothy Droppleman, Elk Garden; six grandchildren; and nine grandchildren.
Friends were received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, where a service was held Wednesday, Jan. 28, with the Rev. Joe Tichinel and the Rev. Donald E. Marple officiating.
Interment was in the Kalbaugh Cemetery, Elk Garden.
MATTIE V. BERG
Mattie Virginia Berg, 63, Elk Garden, W.Va., died Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, in Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born May 20, 1940, in Oakmont, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Beatrice (Paugh) Greaser. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Tammy.
Surviving are her husband, Randolph Berg; one daughter, Debbie Tuel, Elk Garden, W.Va.; four sons, Jerry, David, and Randolph Berg, all of Elk Garden, and Randall Berg, Kitzmiller; two brothers, Ritchie Greaser, Mount Storm, W.Va., and William Greaser, Elk Garden; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Friends were received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller.
A service was held Tuesday, Jan. 27, in the Elk Garden Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Joe Tichinel officiating.
Interment was in the Kalbaugh Cemetery, Elk Garden.
MARY M. CUTRIGHT
Mary Margaret Cutright, 75, Davis, W.Va., died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at her home.
Born Jan. 18, 1929, in Buckhannon, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Ethel Elizabeth Cutright Hinkle. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John W. Cutright, January 2001; and one brother, Frank Hinkle.
She was a housewife, and a member of the Davis United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one son, David Wayne Cutright, Thomas, W.Va.; one daughter, Janet C. Salik, Bowie; three brothers, Robert C. Hinkle, Luther, Mich., Darrel Hinkle, South Lyon, Mich., and John Hinkle, Buckhannon, W.Va.; two sisters, Pauline Boudman, Buckhannon, and Geraldine Jolson, Monroe, Mich.; and three grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Hinkle Funeral Home, where a service was held Wednesday, Jan. 28, with the Rev. J.J. Johnson officiating.
Interment was in the Davis Cemetery.

STEPHANIE CLAY
Stephanie Milagros-Almeida Clay, 9, of Calvert County, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, from injuries she sustained in a car accident while in Ecuador.
Born Dec. 27, 1994, in Columbia, she was a daughter of Stephen S. Clay and Maria Antoinette Clay of Calvert County.
She was a fourth grade student, who spent a lot of time with her grandparents on Deep Creek Lake. She was involved in Brownies and Girl Scouts.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by one sister, Evelyn Clay; and grandparents, Carolyn and Paul Clay, Woodbine.
A service was conducted Friday, Jan. 16, at St. Anthony's Church in North Beach.
WALTER L. DAVY SR.
Walter Linwood Davy Sr., 80, Murfreesboro, Tenn., formerly of Oakland, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at National Health Care, Murfreesboro.
Born Oct. 4, 1923, in Bayard, W.Va., he was a son of the late William L. Davy Sr. and Sylvia A. (Winters) Davy. He was also preceded in death by his wife, E. Jane (Holt) Davy, in 1971; two sisters, Winona Davy and Hazel I. Reese; and two brothers, Garrett T. Davy and William L. Davy Jr.
He was a 1942 graduate of Bayard High School, and following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served until 1945 in the Pacific Theatre with the Fourth Division. He also participated in the Iwo Jima landing. He was a member of Proctor Kildow Post #71, American Legion, Oakland, and Post #10077, VFW, Deer Park.
He retired as a lineman after 36 years with the C&P Telephone Co., Oakland.
Surviving are two sons, Walter L. Davy Jr. and Richard L. Davy, both of Tampa, Fla., two sisters, Sylvia B. Beeghly, Mtn. Lake Park, and Bertie Barkley, Parsons, W.Va.; and one brother, Alfred C. Davy, Murfreesboro.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland.
A service was held at the Oakland Church of the Nazarene on Tuesday, Jan. 27, with the Rev. Art Evans officiating.
Interment was in the Bayard Cemetery.
Military honors were accorded at the cemetery by members of the various veterans' organizations in southern Garrett County.
MARIE A. NELSON
Marie A. Nelson, 90, Lewistown, Pa., formerly of Friendsville, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, in Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, Lewistown.
Born July 5, 1913, in Friendsville, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ocie (Friend) Dixon. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Ralph G. Fike, Frank S. Anderson, and Clyde H. Nelson; five brothers, Russell, Ray, Charles, Carl, and Paul Dixon; and two sisters, Ida Chidester and Verna Rodgers. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Friendsville, on Wednesday, Feb. 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A service will be conducted at the funeral home at 2 pm., with the Rev. Michael Robinson officiating.
Interment will be in Blooming Rose Cemetery.
JOHN E. FERREE
John Edward "Jack" Ferree, 80, Frostburg (Garrett County), died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Aug. 1, 1923, in Jeannette, Pa., he was the son of the late Marshall and Pearl (Winters) Ferree. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Christal Ferree.
He was owner of Frostburg Auto until 1984. He was currently employed by the Garrett County Community Action Transit Service.
Surviving are his wife, Tressia M. (Wilburn) Ferree; one son, John Ferree, Winchester, Va.; two daughters, Janet Dom, LaVale, and Kimberly Miller, Cross Junction, Va.; five grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, today, Thursday, Jan. 29, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Daniel C. Agnew officiating.
Interment will be in Grantsville Cemetery.

WILMER L. BOOR
Wilmer L. Boor, 58, Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Cresaptown died Jan. 19, 2004, at his home in Bradenton.
Born Dec. 10, 1945, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Eileen Boor.
He was a former employee of the Kelly Springfield Tire Company. After his move to Florida in 1989, he was a retail manager and attended West Bradenton Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Carol A. Boor of Bradenton; one son, Wesley L. Boor, Cumberland; one daughter, Taylor A. Boor, Bradenton; one stepdaughter, Sara J. Janik, Bradenton; two sisters, Victoria Dever, Oakland, and Sharon Kilbourne, Akron, Ohio; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 31, at 6 p.m. in Grace Memorial Community Church, 1005 Bishop Walsh Road, Cumberland, with the Rev. Mickey Stephens officiating.
Inurnment will be in Porter Cemetery, Stringtown, Pa.
Hafer Funeral Service, LaVale, is in charge of arrangements.

C. BETH CALLIS FRIEND
Charlotte (Beth) Callis Friend, 73, Oakland, died on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at her home.
She was born March 19, 1930, in Oakland, and was the daughter of the late Scott W. Shirer and Beatrice (Ashby) Shirer. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Stanley E. Callis, in 1977; and her brother, William A. Shirer, in 1978.
Mrs. Friend was retired from Garrett County Memorial Hospital, where she was the lab supervisor for many years. She was a member of the Faith Evangelical Free Church and was a member of the Garrett County Historical Society, where she served as the museum curator for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Friend; two sons, Wayne Callis and his wife Donna and their children, Patrick and Julie, and David Callis and his wife Mary, and their children, Elizabeth, Aaron and Anna; one stepson, Chris Friend, San Diego, Calif.; two step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home in Oakland, today, Thursday, Jan. 29, from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be conducted on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Faith Evangelical Free Church, with Pastor David Martin officiating.
Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials take the form of contributions to the Garrett County Historical Society; the Faith Evangelical Free Chruch building fund; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
GRACE M. AULT
Grace Marie Bachtel Ault passed from this life on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, in Bel Air. She was 66 years old.
Mrs. Ault was born May 15, 1937, in Red House. She was the youngest child of the late John and Lena Bachtel.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Allen Ault, Bel Air; one daughter, Rebecca A. Magnani, a son-in-law Timothy Magnani, and one grandson Alexander John Magnani, all of Stewartstown. She is also survived by one brother, Harold Bachtel, Red House; and two sisters, Patricia Ryland, Baltimore, and Helen Nine, Silver Spring.
Mrs. Ault was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was enjoyed gardening, quilting, and her second home at Deep Creek Lake.
A service will be conducted at St. John Lutheran Church of Red House, Oakland, on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Keith Pittsnogle officiating.
Interment will be private.

ALBERT J. FLEMING
Albert J. Fleming, 57, Swanton, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at his home.
Born Sept. 2, 1946, in Riverdale, he was a son of the late Joseph C. and Elizabeth M. (Wilhelm) Fleming.
He was a member of the Swanton Otterbein United Methodist Church. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Folley Run Sportsmen's Club and the Restless Ridge Sportsmen's Club. For 24 years he was employed by MeadWestvaco as a multi-craft maintenance operator.
He is survived by his wife, Linda L. (Teets) Fleming; three daughters, Lu-cinda J. Davis and husband Steven, Oakland, Lawre D. Virts and husband Randy, Swanton, and Lissa E. Bush and husband David, Orlando, Fla.; one son, A.J. Fleming and wife April, Swanton; one half brother, Richard Gerlac, Swanton; one brother, James Fleming, Frostburg; and seven grandchildren, Amber Davis, Joshua Bush, Zachary Virts, Anna Bush, Hannah Virts, Jacob Davis, and Jonathan Bush.
Friends will be received at the original Stewart Funeral Home, 32 S. Second St., Oakland, on Saturday, Jan. 31, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be held at the Swanton Otterbein United Methodist Church on Sunday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Don Nelson, Rev. Vicki Minnick, and Rev. Meredith Ball officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Otterbein Church Cemetery.
