Edna I. Mayhue
Edna Irene Griffith Mayhue, 95, of Coffman Nursing Home in Hagerstown, and formerly of Boonsboro, died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at the home.
Born July 25, 1904, in Keedysville, she was the daughter of the late Samuel James and Carrie Elizabeth Lapole Griffith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvey Lee Mayhue, in 1960.
She was a former member of Keysville Brethren Church; and attended St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Lappans.
She was formerly a housekeeper for the Stuart Bushong family in Boonsboro.
She is survived by a daughter, Annalee Jordan of Hagerstown; a sister, Helen Bowers of Frederick, Md.; a brother, Leonard Griffith of Boonsboro; 10 grandchildren, two whom she raised, Gail Tracy and Joanne Mentzer, both of Hagerstown; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ellen Elizabeth Mayhue; a sister, Myrtle Johns; two brothers, Ralph Griffith and Freddy Griffith; and a grandson, whom she raised, Blaine Jordon.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Anne O. Weatherholt will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven cemetery in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Nora C. Eakle
MURRELLS INLET, S.C. - Nora Catherine Eakle, 95, of Murrells Inlet, and formerly of Latrobe, Pa., died Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, at her home.
Born Jan. 29, 1904, in Fairplay, she was the daughter of the late Norman L. and Katie Davis Emmert.
She was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses congregation in Latrobe.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Laura Peters of Murrells Inlet; and two great-grandsons.
Services were private.
Arrangements were by Goldfinch Funeral Home in Murrells Inlet.
Marion F. Garrott
BRUNSWICK, Md. - Marion Frank "Peachey" Garrott, 79, of 807 East "B" St., died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Md.
Born July 12, 1920, in Brunswick, he was the son of the late Jesse Lee and Sarah Ann Harmon Garrott.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Roberta Cooper Garrott.
He was a retired car repairman with the Washington Terminal at Washington, D.C.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of New York Hill United Methodist Church in Brunswick.
He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 1136; and Steadman-Keenan Post No. 96 of the American Legion, both of Brunswick.
He is survived by three daughters, Dixie Lee Shackelford of Knoxville, Md., Kim Smith of Jefferson, Md., and Diane Garrott of Williamsport; two sons, Wayne Garrott of Brunswick and Larry Garrott of Millville, W.Va.; four sisters, Mary Elizabeth Barnhouse of Lucketts, Va., Lucille Virginia Barnhouse, Evelyn Freida Wilson and Audrey Louise Williams, all of Brunswick; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and his companion, Mary Jane French of Brunswick.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Martin Garrott and Clifford Lee Garrott.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at New York Hill United Methodist Church in Brunswick. The Rev. Clark D. Carr will officiate. Burial will be in Park Heights cemetery in Brunswick.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road in Brunswick. The funeral home will be open from 9 a.m.

Richard C. Benchoff
Richard C. Benchoff, 74, of 139 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 5, 1925, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Merle C. and Verna Jane Myers Benchoff.
He attended Waynesboro area schools; and was a 1943 graduate of Waynesboro Senior High School, where he was a star basketball player.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II; and played interservice basketball throughout Europe during the allied occupation.
He retired in 1980 from the Department of the Army at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, Pa., as a steamfitter and plumber with 35 years of combined federal service.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He was a life member of William D. Byron Post 1936 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Hagerstown, and held a number of offices including Post Commander, Post Chaplain, District 3 (MD) Commander, Assistant State Quartermaster, was the current District 3 Quartermaster. He was a member of Military Order of the Cootie, Woodtick Pup Tent No. 7 in Hagerstown; American Legion, Dixon-Troxell Post 211 in Funkstown; Fraternal Order of the Eagles Airie 694 in Hagerstown; Eagles Club of Waynesboro; Gauley Mountain Hunt Club in Slatyfork, W.Va.; member and former captain of Always There Hook and Ladder Co. of the Waynesboro Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, June M. Deaver Benchoff; a son, Richard C. Benchoff II of Baltimore; and two sisters, Barbara Russell of Billings, Mont., and Doris Harmon of Waynesboro.
Service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, with a military service.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Justin D. Calhoun
FREDERICK, Md. - Justin Duane Calhoun, 16, of 7918 Edgewood Church Road, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at his home.
Born June 15, 1983, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Duane D. Calhoun of Frederick and Cindy L. Myers Streets of Fountain Hills, Ariz.
He was a junior at Middletown High School in Middletown, Md., and previously attended Frederick High School.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his stepmother, Judith Harris Calhoun of Frederick; his stepfather, James Streets of Fountain Hills; a brother, Cory Calhoun of Fountain Hills; maternal grandmother, Wilma Myers of Hagerstown; paternal grandmother, Joann F. Sharon of Hagerstown; aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Elmer Myers; and paternal grandfather, Edward Sharon.
Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.

Joyce J. Fahs
SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. - Joyce Juanita Fahs, 70, of 3323 Pebble Beach Drive, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, in Sierra Vista.
Born April 12, 1929, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John Edgar and Nellie Virginia Mellott Conklin.
She was employed by Arnold Graphics Inc. in Hagerstown; and previously by Doubleday Books in Smithsburg and Corning Glass in Greencastle, Pa.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Fahs; two daughters, Debbie Cauffman of Boonsboro and Brenda Benner of Hagerstown; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Conklin Snyder and Mariam Smith; and one brother, John Conklin.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert L. Dell will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
