Joseph T. Gossard
WILLIAMSPORT - Joseph Theodore Gossard, 92, of 16505 Virginia Ave., died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 14, 1906, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late David Albert and Lydia Grace Curfman Gossard.
He retired from Western Maryland Railroad. He also was employed by Captain Harvey's Seafood Restaurant in Owings Mills, Md.
He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
He was a member and past master of Hagerstown Lodge No. 217 AF & AM; a member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon; Shrine Club; Scottish Rite; Potomac Fish & Game Club in Williamsport; and Antietam Fire Company.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Catherine Gossard; three daughters, Doris Louise Cottingham of Walkersville, Md., Janice LaRue Gray of Hagerstown and JoEllen Gore of Glyndon, Md.; four sisters, Mae Socks, Mary Ruth Craig and Edith Gaylor, all of Hagerstown and Freda Wempe of Williamsport; two brothers, Evers Gossard of Salisbury, Md., and Charles Gossard of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Nancy Slifer, Alice Lumm and Ethel Bowman; and three brothers, William Gossard, Robert Gossard and Albert Gossard.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Dennis L. Upton will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. A Masonic memorial service will be held Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Helen A. Yellott
CLEAR SPRING - Helen Alverta Yellott, 86, of 10932 Garrison Hollow Road, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at the home of her daughter.
Born Nov. 16, 1912, in Manchester, Md., she was the daughter of the late Edward H. and Myrtle A. Hare Rang.
Her husband, Lloyd Yellott, preceded her in death.
She was employed by Eyerly's Department Store in Hagerstown, Sears, Abbie Jane Flower Shop, and she was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Clear Spring.
She is survived by one daughter, Jane E. Branch, with whom she lived; two sisters, Mary E. Berkenbaugh of Fairplay and Neva Smith of Hanover, Pa.; one brother, Carroll E. Rang of Lake Worth, Fla.; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Francis B. Rang, and one granddaughter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Clear Spring, with the Rev. Alfred Smith as celebrant.
The family will receive friends at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring, Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m. For the convenience of friends the funeral home will be open from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Edgar W. Shipley
MOUNT AIRY, Md. - Edgar Wayne Shipley, 58, of Mount Airy, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at College View Center in Frederick, Md.
Born March 17, 1941, in St. Denis, Md., he was the son of the late James Oscar and Eva Irene Hall Shipley.
He was a carpenter with Ray Walter Construction Co. in Hagerstown.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962.
He is survived by one sister, Shirley Marie Whisman of Walkersville, Md., and one brother, Wesley William Shipley of Mount Airy.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Jane Tressler, and one brother, James Marvin Shipley.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 Old Liberty Road, Winfield, Md., (beside South Carroll High School). The Rev. Leander Anske Jr. of Morgan Chapel United Methodist Church in Woodbine, Md., will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Mount Airy.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Lillian L. Gorman
Lillian L. Lohman Gorman, 82, of 752 Spruce St., died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at the home of her daughter, Addie J. O'Connor, 10431 Crystal Falls Drive, Hagerstown.
Born Feb. 21, 1917, in Shady Grove, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Jacob Pentz and Addie Bell Funk Lohman.
She attended Shady Grove Elementary School and Greencastle (Pa.) High School.
She was employed for 10 years by Hebb's Grocery Store in Hagerstown. Prior to retiring in 1979, she was employed by Corning Glass in Greencastle as a packer.
She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Hagerstown where she assisted with the church newsletter and was a member of the Friendly Philathea Sunday School class.
She was a member of National AARP.
She is survived by one daughter, Addie J. O'Connor of Hagerstown; five sons, Thomas E. Gorman of Rutherfordton, N.C., Gary P. Gorman of Smithsburg, Glenn L. Gorman, David R. Gorman and Joseph K. Gorman, all of Hagerstown; one sister, Sara Beaver of Shady Grove; one brother, Robert Lohman of Hagerstown; 38 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra L. Gorman in 1938; three sisters, Margaret Klee, Beulah Lohman and Lorraine Barnhart; three brothers, George Lohman, Oscar Lohman and Martin Lohman; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, Pa. The Rev. Dennis L. Upton will officiate. Burial will be in Price's Church cemetery near Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Matilda Creamer
CROWNSVILLE, Md. - Matilda Creamer, 88, of 320 S. Riverside Drive, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Pasadena Home Care.
Born June 5, 1911, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late George and Lena Waldman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Creamer, in 1966.
She owned and operated a business in Baltimore.
She enjoyed building and renovating houses.
She also enjoyed boating, swimming and traveling.
She is survived by two daughters, Charlotte C. Lubbert of Crownsville, Md., and Geraldine R. Creamer of Frankford, Del.; two brothers, Ludwig Waldman of Upperco, Md., and Frederick Waldman of Denton, Md.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A gathering of friends and family will be held Sunday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m. at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
Tiffany D. Rice
SMITHSBURG - Tiffany D. Rice, 28, of 11704 Kieffer Funk Road, died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 30, 1971, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Thomas F. Mullendore of Mapleville, Md., and the late Mary L. Beard Mullendore.
She was a 1989 graduate of Boonsboro High School, and a graduate of Hagerstown Junior College and Frostburg State University.
She was employed by the Social Services department in Hagerstown.
She was a member of St. Peter's (Beard's) Lutheran Church in Leitersburg.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, Lorne B. Rice, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. Carroll L. Boyer will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
