Barbara E. Robinson
CLEAR SPRING - Barbara Ellen Robinson, 74, of 14364 Hicksville Road, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at Western Maryland Hospital Center, Hagerstown.
Born Jan. 7, 1925, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Ada Pearl Hoffman and Albert K. Kelley.
She was a homemaker.
She attended Rehobeth United Methodist Church of Williamsport.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles William Robinson; one son, Robert L. Kelley of Clear Spring; two sisters, Gladys B. Ritter of Williamsport and Nancy J. Taulton of Knoxville; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred K. Robinson and one brother, William E. Kelley, Sr.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Rev. James Swecker will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Clear Spring.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home. For the convenience of friends the funeral home will be open from noon to 9 p.m.
Robert M. Hoffman, Sr.
WALKERSVILLE, Md. - Robert Michael Hoffman, Sr., 88, of Walkersville, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at Glade Valley Nursing Home, Walkersville.
Born May 4, 1911, in Myersville, Md., he was the son of the late Michael and Minnie Palmer Hoffman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Irene Cline Hoffman, who died in 1970.
He was retired from Newman's Farm Equipment, Smithsburg.
He was a member of Beaver Creek Christian Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Joann Catherine Mentzer of Frederick and Joyce Marie Netz of Hagerstown; three sons, Robert Michael Hoffman Jr. of Leitersburg, Richard Franklin Hoffman of Hagerstown and David Luther Hoffman of Hedgesville, W.Va.; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, 16 step great-grandchildren, five step great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Mae Hoffman.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville. The Rev. Mark Curran will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Myersville.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
Stephen L. Kline
WALDORF, Md. - Stephen Lynn Kline, 47, of 1582 Pin Oak Drive, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at his home.
Born March 9, 1952, in New Market, Va., he was the son of G. Donald Kline of Warfordsburg, Pa. and Elizabeth Sue Coleman of Broadway, Va.
He was employed with the U.S. Air Force with the 89th Maintenance Squadron "PMEL, " Andrews Air Force Base for 23 years.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Cora Kline; two sons, Aaron Francis Kline and Jason Donald Kline, both of Waldorf; two sisters, Donna Sue Lowery of Memphis and Kim Brown of Broadway; two brothers, Michael A. Kline of Reading, Pa. and Richard L. Kline of Harrisonburg, Va., and his stepmother, Mary Anne Kline of Warfordsburg.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Dellinger Chapel, Mt. Jackson, Va. The Rev. Sid W. Roden will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Jackson Cemetery, Mt. Jackson.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 8 at the funeral home.

Robert T. Barker
WILLIAMSPORT - Robert T. Barker, 78, of 16505 Virginia Ave., died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at Homewood Retirement Center.
Born Nov. 1, 1920, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Dr. E. Eugene and Edna L. Snyder Barker.
He retired in 1982 from NAV-C with the U.S. Government Civil Service at the Pentagon, after 24 years of service.
He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Hagerstown.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Sadofsky Barker; one sister, Mary Louise Weiss of Chevy Chase, Md.; three brothers, Stephen M. Barker of Darien, Conn., Thomas G. Barker of San Diego, and E. Gilbert Barker of Crown Point, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Homewood Chapel. The Rev. Patrick Pierce will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

Garland E. Abbott
Garland Edward Abbott, 77, of Hagerstown, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 14, 1922, in Trego, Md., he was the son of the late George W. and Clara Butts Abbott.
He was retired from Fairchild Aircraft after 46 years of service.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Italy with the 10th Mountain Division as a staff sergeant.
He was a member of Maranatha Brethren Church and the Berean Sunday School Class and a former member of the choir.
He was a member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 and Friendship Lodge 84 of the Grand Lodge, A.F. & A.M. of Maryland.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Elaine Mullenix Abbott; two daughters, Judy E. Peiffer of Smithsburg and Patti E. Lewis of Ellicott City, Md.; four sisters, Martha Jones and Marjorie Griffith, both of Boonsboro, and Patsy Reeder and Faye Breeden, both of Hagerstown; one brother, Eddie Abbott of Hagerstown; three granddaughters; and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Jay Fretz will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.

Joseph S. Bowman
WILLIAMSPORT - Joseph S. Bowman, 72, of Williamsport Nursing Home, and formerly of Lakin Avenue, Boonsboro, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Feb. 27, 1927, in Smithsburg, he was the son of the late Morris Bowman and Naomi F. Bowman Wilkins.
He is survived by a brother, Emerson Bowman of Boonsboro; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg. The Rev. John W. Schildt will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Smithsburg.
The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Alfred C. Dawson Sr.
BALTIMORE - Alfred Cedric Dawson Sr., 84, of Baltimore, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore.
Born Dec. 5, 1914, in Great Cacapon, W.Va., he was the son of the late Horatio Rhine and Clara Virginia Youngblood Dawson.
He attended public schools in Great Cacapon.
He retired in 1977 from Bethlehem Steel in Baltimore.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sadie Loukonen Dawson; two daughters, Linda Fillmore and Brenda Fenloch, both of Baltimore; three sons, Alfred C. Dawson Jr., Glenn Dawson and Larry Dawson, all of Baltimore; two stepsons, Robert Dawson and Gordon Brooks, both of Baltimore; a sister, Mabel Whisner of Great Cacapon; two brothers, George Dawson of Baltimore and Lee Dawson of Harrisburg, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne C. Starks; a son, Ronald Wayne Dawson; a sister, Martha Dawson Farris; and two brothers, Medford Dawson and Edgar Dawson.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs, W.Va. The Revs. Hennis H. Fox and Steven R. Dawson will officiate. Burial will be in Great Cacapon Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from 10 a.m.
