Ruth E. Cox
HANCOCK - Ruth E. Cox, 93, formerly of 13 E. High St., and of Ravenwood Nursing Center in Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at Ravenwood.
Born Feb. 14, 1906, in Sperryville, Va., she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Nolte Silver.
Her husband, Joseph F. Cox, died in 1997.
She was a graduate of Berkeley Springs High School.
She was a member of St. Thomas' Episcopal Church in Hancock.
She also was a member of Order of the Eastern Star in Hancock.
She is survived by one son, Joseph W. Cox of Eugene, Ore.; two grandsons, Matthew Cox and Andrew Cox; and one granddaughter, Abigail Cox.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Clark and Ruby Allen; and one brother, Conrad Silver.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas' Episcopal Church, 2 W. High St., Hancock. The Rev. F. Allan Weatherholt Jr. will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Mountain View cemetery in Sharpsburg.
The family will receive friends at St. Thomas Parish Hall immediately following the service.
Jean A. Moyers
BRUNSWICK, Md. - Jean Alice Moyers, 64, of 412 W. "B" St., died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital.
Born March 28, 1935, in Harrisonburg, Va., she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Frances Williams Moyers.
She was a retired analyst with the National Geographic Society in Gaithersburg, Md.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Brunswick.
She is survived by one sister, Betty L. Brooks of Brunswick; two brothers, Robert Moyers of Brunswick, and David S. Moyers; one niece; and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Virginia Moyers; and two brothers, Virgil Moyers Jr. and John Wayne Moyers.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick. The Rev. Clark D. Carr will officiate. Burial will be in Brownsville Heights cemetery in Brownsville.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from 9 a.m.

Eugene E. Blickenstaff
Eugene Earl "Blick" Blickenstaff, 88, of 11400 Stonecroft Court, Hagerstown, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at his home.
Born June 23, 1911, in Tiffin, Ohio, he was the son of the late Thomas Nelson and Elma Maude Schroyer Blickenstaff.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane E. Boger Blickenstaff, in 1982. They were married
Aug. 20, 1934.
He retired from Fairchild-Hiller.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
He was a member of Pegasus Club with Fairchild; and a former member of Fountain Head Country Club.
He is survived by two sisters, Mildred H. Young of Ocala, Fla., and Dolores E. Haller of Boonsboro; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Agnes M. Blickenstaff Donegan; and a brother, Leon Nelson Blickenstaff.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery. The Rev. Edward H. Heim will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
George L. Smith
FREDERICK, Md. - George Lee Smith, 61, of 700 Toll House Ave., and formerly of 412 Reynolds Ave., Hagerstown, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 3, 1937, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late George Marion and Gladys Odine Hawkins Smith.
He was a graduate of Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, W.Va., with a bachelor of arts degree. He received a master's degree from Shippensburg (Pa.) University.
He was employed by Washington County Board of Education. He taught English and social studies at Clear Spring High School for more than 30 years.
He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Lappans, Md.
He was a member of Washington County Teachers Association; Maryland State Teachers Association; Washington County Retired Teachers Association; National Education Association; AARP, and was active with Potomac Playmakers.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Shirley Lapole Smith; one sister, Carol A. Lake of Churchville, N.Y.; one brother, Robert L. Smith of Venice, Fla.; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Anne O. Weatherholt will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mark's Episcopal Church Cemetery, Lappans.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Thelma L. Robinson
Thelma Lee Robinson, 60, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.
She is survived by her parents, Clyde and Lila Robinson of Rippon, W.Va.
She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Richard Robinson of Charles Town; two daughters, Gwendolyn K. Newman of Charles Town, and Rita L. Newman of Winchester; three sons, Richard T. Newman of Giessen, Germany, Anthony J. Newman and Alan L. Newman, both of Charles Town; three sisters, Marcina Grantham of Middleway, W.Va., Vivian Robinson of Glen Burnie, Md., and Cynthia Grantham of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wainwright Baptist Church. Minister Jevon Newman will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Arrangements are by Rosedale Funeral Chapel in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Francis S. Humphrey
NEW PORT RICHIE, Fla. - Francis Stetson "Pete" Humphrey, 71, of New Port Richey, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999, at his home.
Born in New Haven, Conn., he was the son of Irene Crane Humphrey of Laguna Hills, Calif., and the late Dr. Steton Humphrey.
He worked as a communications engineer for the California Institute of Technology's Jet Propulsion Lab, Goddard Space Flight Center, Airforce Systems Command and Army Communications at Fort Ritchie. A NASA pioneer, he was responsible for the design and installation of the first global satellite communications system.
After retiring from Fort Ritchie in 1984, he became owner and president of Eagle Air Flight Training Center. He was a commercial pilot, an instrument flight instructor and an FAA aviation safety counselor.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, Experimental Aircraft Association, Quiet Birdmen and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He was past president of Antietam Radio Club.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Jeannine Johns Humphrey; one daughter, Jean Humphrey Peters of New Port Richey; one son, Peter Johns Humphrey of Lakeside, Calif.; and one sister, Johanne Hall of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
A memorial celebration will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 101 S. Prospect St., Hagerstown. Following the memorial celebration, friends may call at the home of George and Mary Kalin, 803 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown.
