Lucille M. Fisher
Lucille Mae Fisher, 68, of 1219 Sherman Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at her home.
Born Feb. 16, 1931, in Washington County, she was the daughter of Jane Worthington Burkholder of Williamsport and the late Elwood Burkholder.
She owned and operated Fisher's Bake Shop in Hagerstown and in Frederick, Md. Previously, she was manager of the snack bar at Washington County Hospital.
She was a member of Christ Reformed Church.
She volunteered with crisis hotline.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her stepmother, Eva Churchey Burkholder of Hagerstown; six daughters, Marilyn Fisher Morris and Brenda Fisher Keller, both of Hagerstown, Jackie Fisher Kreps of Clear Spring, Debbie Fisher Smith of Williamsport, Patsy Fisher Rock of Pensacola, Fla., and Charlene Fisher Kirby of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a son, Bobby Fisher of Hagerstown; two brothers, Elwood Burkholder of Williamsport and Clayton Burkholder of Hagerstown; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Calvary Temple, 145 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. Robert V. Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown; and Thursday 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
David L. Clipp
David Lonnie Clipp, 52, of 17408 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 4, 1946, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Daisy Viola Fiddler Clipp of Hagerstown and the late Theodore Cleveland Clipp.
He was employed by Garden State Tannery for 23 years.
He was a member of Funkstown Rod and Gun Club; and Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Local No. 652.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mida Virginia Miller Clipp; a daughter, Mida Virginia Clipp, at home; a sister, Rosalie Holmes of Hagerstown; and three brothers, Theodore Eugene Clipp of Halfway, Wayne Cecil Clipp of Huyetts and Charles Cleveland Clipp Sr. of Clear Spring.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Harmony United Methodist Church, Route 11, Marlowe, W.Va. The Rev. Ray Roberson will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
Friends may call Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m.
Mary F. Vantz
Mary Frances Otzelberger Vantz, 78, of 18835 Preston Road, Hagerstown, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 8, 1921, in Cabin John, Md., she was the daughter of the late John A. and Cora Bell Myers Crampton.
She was employed by Western Maryland Hospital until retiring. Earlier, she was employed by Fairchild Aircraft and Maryland Ribbon.
She was a member of Burnside First Church of God in Sharpsburg.
She was a member of MCEA Chapter No. 152; Morris Frock Post No. 42 American Legion Auxiliary; AARP; and National Council of Senior Citizens.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Wolford Vantz of Hagerstown; a daughter, Barbara Jean Eichelberger of Sharpsburg; a granddaughter, Candy Kay Denkovich of Hagerstown; a grandson, Darrin E. Eichelberger of Fairplay; and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Kipe; and two infant brothers.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Burnside First Church of God, 3904 Mills Road, Sharpsburg. The Revs. Ernest E. Witmer and Paul Hawbaker will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.
Friends may call Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The funeral home will be open Wednesday after 9 a.m.
B. Marie Weddle
B. Marie Weddle, 83, of Hagerstown, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.
Born April 1, 1916, in Blairs Valley, she was the daughter of the late Eliason T. Sr. and Bessie Ellen Drury Keefer.
Her husband, Leroy R. Weddle Sr., died in 1988.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by three daughters, Janis L. Baumbaugh of Greencastle, Pa., Ruth Jeanette Gallion of Clear Spring, and Sharon M. Block of Hagerstown; one son, Leroy R. Weddle Jr. of Edgewood, Md.; two granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Daisy Munson, Estelle Foltz, Carrie Reynolds, and Mary Cartwright; and four brothers, Clarence Keefer, Earl Keefer, Eliason T. Keefer Jr. and Edward M. Keefer.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Donald C. Evason will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven cemetery in Hagerstown.
Arrangements are by Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown.
Ernest L. Fishel Jr.
Ernest Lee Fishel Jr., 60, a resident of Avalon Manor Health Care Center, and formerly of 819 Dale St., Hagerstown, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 28, 1938, in Greenway, Va., he was the son of the late Ernest Lee and Maye Martin Fishel.
He was employed by Goodwill Industries; and Victor Products.
He was a member of Peoples Gospel Tabernacle.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Fishel.
A memorial service will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Pastor Russell E. Huffman will officiate. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing.
George L. Lightner
George Levi Lightner, 84, of Hagerstown, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Nov. 19, 1914, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late John W. and Catherine E. Straiff Lightner.
He retired in 1975 from Western Maryland Railroad.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was a life member of Western Maryland Sportsmen Club; AMVETS Post No. 10; American Legion Clear Spring Post No. 222; Red Mens Tribe No. 84; and Western Enterprise Fire Company No. 4.
He was a member of Western Maryland Railway Old Timers Club; Disabled American Veterans R.S. Tag Jr. No. 14; Fraternal Order of Police; Forty and Eight; and Post No. 202 Last Man's Club.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Lightner; a daughter, Diane Clifford of Hagerstown; a stepdaughter, Jacqueline Blair of Hagerstown; two sisters, Raffal Kimmel of Hagerstown and Katherine Cosgrove of Hagerstown; a granddaughter; two great-grandsons; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Stoner; and two brothers, Charles Lightner and Elden Lightner.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 127 Britner Ave. in Williamsport. Military graveside services will be conducted by Morris Frock American Legion Post No. 42.
