Stella P. Dade
Stella Pearl Dade, 84, of 1500 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, and formerly of Washington, D.C., died Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at Western Maryland Hospital in Hagerstown.
Born Nov. 3, 1914, in Hood, Va., she was the daughter of the late Kyte and Mary A. Spottswood Dade.
She was employed at Mount Vernon College in Washington, D.C.; and later retired in 1985 from Hecht Company, also in Washington, D.C.
She is survived by a son, Charles G. Dade of Chambersburg, Pa.; two sisters, Lucille E. Miles of Waynesboro, Pa. and Bea Spottswood of Orange, Va.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
Services will be Wednesday at noon at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Gregory P. Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Wednesday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Debra A. Black
Debra Ann Black, 45, of 216 W. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Feb. 27, 1954, in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of Ronald H. and Patsy Lee Churchey Milburn of Sharpsburg.
She was a 1972 graduate of Boonsboro High School and Vocational-Technical Cosmetology Class.
She had been employed, prior to her illness, with Rocky Top Wood Preservers Inc. in Hagerstown. She also was a hairdresser.
She was of the Protestant faith.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, R.L. Black Jr. of Hagerstown; a daughter, Ami Allison Carbaugh of Hagerstown; a son, Charles Ellsworth Carbaugh III of Hagerstown; a stepdaughter, Jessica Faye Feather of Hagerstown; a sister, Kathy J. Wood of Martinsburg, W.Va.; a brother, Ronald L. Milburn of Sharpsburg; three grandchildren; and a niece.
Memorial services will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport.
The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Evelyn A. Lewis
CLEAR SPRING - Evelyn A. Lewis, 76, of 14850 National Pike, died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 3, 1923, in Garfield, Md., she was the daughter of the late May Newman and Samuel Draper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gail A. Lewis, in 1988.
She was a retired cook and aide at Kemp Horn Home in Smithsburg.
She attended Wilson Chapel Church at Conococheague.
She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn J. Coe of Clear Spring and Martha L. Wolfe of Smithsburg; two sons, Gail Russell Lewis at home and Basil E. Lewis of Williamsport; two brothers, Zack Draper of Smithsburg and Charles Olsop of Rockwell City, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Adelle Olsop; and three brothers, James Olsop, Thomas Olsop and Earl Draper.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. Pastor Delavene Cunningham will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetry in Clear Spring.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lois A. Lidie
Lois Ann Lidie, 53, of 28 Wakefield Road, Hagerstown, died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
Born Feb. 13, 1946, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Edgar Vincent and Dorothy Grave Grove Warner.
She was a member of West End Baptist Chapel.
She is survived by two daughters, Cystal Marie Lidie of Hagerstown and Tamra Sue Lidie of Chambersburg, Pa.; a son, David Elsworth Lidie II of Hagerstown; three sisters, Shirley Michael and Phyllis Martin, both of Hagerstown and Jennie Clifford of Fairplay; three brothers, Thomas Linn of Martinsburg, W.Va., Edgar Vincent Warner Jr. of Hagerstown and Richard Warner of Waynesboro, Pa.; and two grandsons.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. James C. Brinkley will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Penelope P. Abell
BEACON, N.Y. - Penelope Palmos Abell, 72, of 9 Wodenethe Drive, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 1999, at Homewood Nursing Center in Williamsport.
Born Feb. 12, 1927, in New York, she was the daughter of the late Christos and Vasiliki Dendrinos Palmos.
She was a graduate of Hunter College, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
She was a retired teacher and administrator with the New York City Board of Education.
She was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in New York.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Charles Abell; one daughter, Valerie Bonano of Hagerstown; two sons, John C. Abell of Reston, Va., and Christopher K. Abell of Hagerstown; one sister, Anne Gustave of New York; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Ernest Arambiges will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, West Washington Street, Hagerstown.
There will be no public viewing.

Emma S. James
JEFFERSON, Md. - Emma Sophia James, 90, of 3857 Jefferson Pike, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born in Sunken Valley, Pa., on Jan. 14, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Charles H. and Cora Little Shull.
She was employed by Sagner's Tailoring Co. in Frederick; and Hanover Shoe Co. in Middletown, Md.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Jefferson.
She is survived by her husband, George Thomas James; four sons, H. Edward Fisher Jr. of Earlsville, Md., William T. James of Enterprise, Ala., Wayne R. James of Roswell, Ga., and Davis S. James of Hagerstown; two sisters, Ruth Crawford of Braddock Heights, Md., and Alma Fogle of Frederick, Md.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Luther Shull; and a sister, Hazel Taylor.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 Church St., Frederick. The Rev. Virginia K. Price will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
