Wayne E. Albert
BOONSBORO - Wayne Eugene Albert, 54, of 20915 Reno Monument Road, died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 6, 1945, he was the son of the late William E. and Catherine I. Fuss Albert.
He was owner and operator of Albert Masonry Co. for more than 25 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He was a member of Clopper-Michael Post 10 Boonsboro American Legion and Williamsport Red Men Club.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon A. Miller Albert, whom he married
in 1967; two daughters, Kimberly A. Hawbaker of Keedysville and Kristin L. Gunder of Waynesboro, Pa.; three sisters, Linda Plyler of State Line, Pa., Yvonne Stitely of Ivins, Utah, and Donna Shoop of Hagerstown; five brothers, Ronnie Schuller, Leroy Albert, Denny Albert, Ray Grimm and Rodger Grimm, all of Hagerstown, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Richard Kroll and the Rev. Dean Negri will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

John B. Ashkettle
HANCOCK - John B. Ashkettle, 35, of Rice Road, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 6, 1964, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Bernard L. and Irma B. Lewis Ashkettle of Hancock.
He was a 1982 graduate of Hancock High School.
He was employed as a printer with Boonsboro Printing and Indexing in Boonsboro.
He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Hancock; and St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Little Orleans, Md.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a twin sister, Mary Appel of Warfordsburg, Pa.; three brothers, Lynn B. Ashkettle of Hancock, Joseph A. Ashkettle of Warfordsburg and Matthew J. Ashkettle of Flintstone, Md.; four nieces; three nephews and maternal grandmother, Mary Brooks of Hancock.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, East High Street, Hancock. The Rev. George W. Glick will be celebrant. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open Tuesday from 2 to 9 p.m.
The family requests the omission of flowers.

Patsy L. Landers
HANCOCK - Patsy Louise Landers, 50, of West Main Street, died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Born Dec. 6, 1948, in Paw Paw, W.Va., she was the daughter of Ernest H. and Wilda O. Montgomery Sipes of Hancock.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Lee Landers, in 1994.
She was employed by Fleetwood in Williamsport, as an assembler.
She attended Black Oak Mennonite Church in Warfordsburg, Pa.
She was sergeant at arms for Ladies Auxiliary of Webster B. Harrison Post No. 26 American Legion, Hancock. She was a member of Loyal Order of the Moose No. 1483 in Berkeley Springs.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a daughter, Christina D. Landers of Hancock; a son, Wyatt S. Landers of Hancock; three sisters, Evangeline Joy Shutt of Grove City, Ohio, Betty L. Saunders of Hagerstown and Debbie D. Truax of Hancock; two brothers, Bernard H. Sipes of Hancock and J. Marvin Sipes of Williamsport; and two granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by a son, Christopher L. Landers; and a brother, Ernest J. Sipes.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Black Oak Mennonite Church, Warfordsburg. The Rev. Richard E. Rutherford Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock; and Tuesday one hour before the services at the church. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open Monday from 2 to 9 p.m.

Ethel M. Bachtell
BIG POOL - Ethel M. Bachtell, 90, formerly of 11171 Big Pool Road, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, at Williamsport Nursing Home, Williamsport.
Born Oct. 8, 1908, in Big Pool, she was the daughter of the late James D. and Emma J. Roof Hart.
Her first husband, Lloyd M. Beauchamp, died in 1938. Her second husband, Merlel Bachtell, died in 1976.
She retired from Victor Products, Hagerstown.
She was a lifetime member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Big Pool, and taught Sunday school for many years.
She is survived by one son, Samuel H. Beauchamp Sr. of Big Pool; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Jane Beauchamp Gantz.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Mount Carmel cemetery in Big Pool. The Revs. Dennis Whitmore and Tom Perry will officiate.
A memorial service will follow at 11:45 a.m. Monday at St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be at the church today from 3 to 5 p.m.

Ryan R. Lewis
FREDERICK, Md. - Ryan Ray Lewis, 6, of 103 Key Parkway, died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore.
Born Dec. 22, 1992, in Frederick, he was the son of Billy Ray Lewis Jr. and Linda Schildknecht Giffin of Frederick.
He was a student at Rock Creek School in Frederick.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Eddie Giffin Jr. of Hagerstown and Gage Allen Lewis of Frederick; maternal grandparents, Floyd and Dora Schildknecht of Hagerstown, and James Robert and Ethel Mercer of Frederick; and an aunt.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Billy Lewis Sr. and Peggy L. Wilt.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. The Rev. Tracey L. Wiser, pastor of Harmony Church of the Brethren in Myersville, Md., will officiate. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Myersville.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Gerald W. Giffin
HAINES CITY, Fla. - Gerald Wilbur Giffin, 57, of 2011 Melbourn Ave., died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, at Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center, Davenport, Fla.
Born May 24, 1942, in Boonsboro, he was the son of the late Charles and Alice Ruth Giffin.
He was previously employed by Frick Co. in Waynesboro, Pa., where he served as the union steward. He also had been employed by Bester and Long of Hagerstown.
He was a member of Hagerstown Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Linda M. Jones Giffin; his stepmother, Freda Giffin of Haines City; his stepfather, Benjamin Stull of Boonsboro; four daughters, Judy Butts and Glenda Clay, both of Hagerstown, Patricia Burns of Lake Alfred, Fla., and Mary Pipkins of Haines City; two sons, Dwayne Giffin of Haines City and Gerald Giffin of Davenport, Fla.; two brothers, Larry Giffin of Downsville and Tom Giffin of Hagerstown; a stepbrother, Jim Stull of Boonsboro; 11 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. Richard G. Hembrock will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open Sunday after 9 a.m.
