Mary E. Crunkleton
Mary E. Crunkleton, 101, of East Washington Street, died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at her home.
Born Sept. 20, 1897, in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry S. and Rebecca Jane Pensinger Crunkleton.
She had been employed by M.P. Moller Pipe Organ Co. in Hagerstown.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hagerstown.
She is survived by one brother, Floyd R. Crunkleton of Smithsburg; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Sarah J. Souders; and four brothers, Lester G. Crunkleton, H. Preston Crunkleton, Charles L. Crunkleton and Paul P. Crunkleton.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Rest Haven Cemetery. The Rev. Edward H. Heim will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 141 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Mary L. Kearse
Mary Lee Kearse, 84, of 14014 Marsh Pike, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999, at Avalon Manor Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 15, 1915, in Allendale, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Willie and Henrietta Williams Conley.
Her husband, William Kearse, died in 1968.
She attended school in Allendale County, S.C.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Kings Apostle Holiness Church where she was a deaconess and was on the missionary board.
She is survived by three daughters, Janie Todman of Brooklyn, N.Y., Sylvia Freeman of Suitland, Md., and Gertrude Racks of Hagerstown; one son, William Kearse Jr. of Landover, Md.; one stepdaughter, Betsy Smalls of Denmark, S.C.; three sisters, Pearlene Allen of Olar, S.C., Adele Grimes of Denmark and Kathlene Jones of Philadelphia; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Earlene Orr; one brother, Willie Conley Jr.; and one grandson.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Kings Apostle Holiness Church, 125 W. Bethel St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Joe Fowlkes will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
A viewing will be held today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the church.
Arrangements are by Watson Funeral Home in Hagerstown.
Martha J. Houser
SHARPSBURG - Martha Jane Houser, 73, of 18519 Horseshoe Bend Road, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, at Williamsport Nursing Home in Williamsport.
Born March 21, 1926, in Samples Manor, Md., she was the daughter of the late Roy W. and Nellie Smith Houser.
She was a retired telephone operator with Bell Atlantic of Baltimore.
She was a member of Samples Manor Church of God.
She was a member of the Pioneer Club of Bell Atlantic.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Betty Curley with whom she lived.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Houser; three brothers, George Houser, Franklin Houser and Roy Houser Jr.; and her fianc of 45 years, Frank Maggio.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Clark M. Davis
WESTMINSTER, Md. - Clark Mason Davis, 85, a resident of Carroll Lutheran Village, formerly of Hagerstown and Griffin, Ga., died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center.
Born May 9, 1914, in Griffin, Ga., he was the son of the late Edward H. and Hester Kell Davis.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Frances Tarpley Davis.
He attended North Georgia College and Georgia Institute of Technology.
He worked as a civil engineer for the Hardaway Co. in Columbus, Ga. and was in charge of building many highways, bridges and pipelines in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., areas, including the Jones-Falls Expressway.
He was a member of Ascension Episcopal Church in Westminster. He was a former member of the choir and vestry at St. John's Episcopal Church in Hagerstown.
He was a former member of the Rotary Club, Elks Club, Sons of the Confederacy and Sons of the American Revolution. He was a member and officer of the Residents Association of Carroll Lutheran Village.
He is survived by one daughter, Frances Pollard of Glyndon, Md.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Krug Chapel, Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster. The Rev. Ron Fisher will officiate. Burial will be Saturday in Oak Hill cemetery in Griffin, Ga.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster and Wednesday at the church one hour prior to services.

Marion W. Shank
WILLIAMSPORT - Marion Wanda Shank, 93, a resident of Williamsport Nursing Home, formerly of 11533 Shank Road in Clear Spring, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at the nursing home.
Born July 10, 1906, in Greencastle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Millard F. and Frances Katherine Burkholder Shank.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Clear Spring District Historical Society.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Missouri Boyd.
Services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Rev. Andy Carr will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul cemetery in Clear Spring.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
