Roy A. Stottlemyer Sr.
MYERSVILLE, Md. - Roy Arnold Stottlemyer Sr., 67, of 4314 Coxey Brown Road, died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Md.
Born July 22, 1932, in Middlepoint, Md., he was the son of the late William and Lillian Hayes Stottlemyer.
He was employed by Frederick County (Md.) Highway Department until his retirement.
He was a member of Harmony Church of the Brethren in Myersville.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Gilbert Stottlemyer; two daughters, Carol Ann Clevenger of Harpers Ferry, W.Va. and Tracy Wessinger of Lyme, N.H.; three sons, David W. Stottlemyer of Mountaindale, Md., Steven A. Stottlemyer of Harmony, Md. and Roy Stottlemyer Jr. of Smithsburg; one sister, Mary Susan Arvin of Lander, Md.; two brothers, George M. Stottlemyer of Middlepoint and Ercy Stottlemyer of Myersville; and 11 grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown, Md. The Rev. Tracy L. Wiser will officiate. Burial will be in Harmony cemetery in Myersville.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open all day for the convenience of friends.

William S. Woodrow
BRADDOCK HEIGHTS, Md. - Dr. William Scott Woodrow, 74, of 6726 Deer Spring Lane, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Md.
Born Dec. 11, 1924, in South Charleston, W.Va., he was the son of the late William Scott and Eva Frances Thomas Woodrow.
He received a bachelor of science degree in forestry and a master of science degree in microbiology from University of West Virginia, a certificate in medical mycology from Duke University and received a doctoral degree in microbiology from Catholic University.
He retired as a microbiologist and biochemist with the Environmental Protection Agency in Crystal City, Va. He began his career as a teaching assistant and researcher at the University of West Virginia. He also was employed by the U.S. Army Medical Bacteriology Division at Fort Detrick, Md., as a microbiologist; was efficacy section head with EPA from 1974 to 1977 in the Pesticide Registration Division; Toxicology Branch from 1977 to 1989 Health Effects Division of EPA; and from 1989 to 1991 was in the office of Pesticides and Toxic Substances Registration Division, Toxicology Branch.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II.
He was a member of Middletown (Md.) United Methodist Church.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association, National Capital Area Council of Boy Scouts of America, Conservation and Sportsman's Club in Thurmont, Md., Frederick County Fish and Game Protective Association, B.P.O. Elks 684 in Frederick, Md. and served on the staff of Outdoor Advancement Seminar at Camp Airy in Thurmont. He also was a member of Columbia Lodge 58 AF & AM in Frederick, Frederick Scottish Rite Bodies, Chesapeake Consistory, Ali Ghan Temple of A.A.O.N.M.S., and Frederick Forest 132 of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Bowling Woodrow; two daughters, Jane Renee Woodrow Clark of Braddock Heights and Sigrid Kim Woodrow Bomba of Poquoson, Va.; two sisters, Jane Woodrow Porta of Elkview, W.Va. and Frances Woodrow Reffett of Pinch, W.Va.; and two granddaughters.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Middletown United Methodist Church, 7108 Fern Lane, Middletown. The Rev. Susan Halse will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown and at the church Wednesday one hour prior to services.

William A. Crumbacker
William Alden Crumbacker, 79, of 1038 Spruce St., died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, at his home.
Born Oct. 21, 1919, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late William and Erma Crumbacker.
His wife, Doris Lucille Ohler Crumbacker, died Sept. 23, 1983.
He was retired from West End Market after 56 years of service.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the 137th Division during World War II. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
He was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church.
He was a lifetime member of the PTA of Washington County.
He is survived by one daughter, Judith Anne Miller of Hagerstown; one sister, Catherine Youngblood of San Diego, Calif.; two brothers, Warren Crumbacker and Guy Crumbacker, both of Hagerstown; one granddaughter; and two great-grandsons.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Travis Knoll will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Thomas W. Rickett Sr.
Thomas William "Tom" Rickett Sr., 61, of 808 Maryland Ave., Hagerstown, died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at his home.
Born June 23, 1938, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Robert E. Lee and Edna Nyman Sheeler Rickett.
He was employed by Hamilton Hotel, Thurmont Shoe Company and Dagmar Hotel. He was previously employed with Venice Best Western.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Lidie Rickett, whom he married
Jan. 16, 1960; a daughter, Edna Irene Taylor of Hagerstown; three sons, Thomas William Rickett Jr. of Clear Spring, Brian Scott Rickett and Michael Lee Rickett, both of Hagerstown; two granddaughters; a grandson; and two step grandsons.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Cora L. Hay; and a brother, Earl E. Rickett.
Services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Carroll Boyer will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Military graveside services will be conducted by Morris Frock American Legion Post No. 42.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary H. Cottrill
Mary Helen Cottrill, 81, of East Irvin Avenue, Hagerstown, died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 12, 1917, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Harry J. and Bertha Lancaster Biser.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence H. Cottrill, in 1982.
She was retired from Solliday Oil Company.
She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three sons, Larry B. Cottrill of McVeytown, Pa., Lance K. Cottrill of Greensburg, Pa. and Bradley L. Cottrill of Hagerstown; a sister, Lucille Davis of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Victor Biser.
Services will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Stephen D. Robison will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
There will be no viewing.
John D. Stolins
John Downs Stolins, 60, of 17002 Hillsdale Court, Hagerstown, died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at his home.
Born Oct. 28, 1938, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Arthur Breece and Anna Lavinia Pumhrey Stolins.
He attended classes at the University of Maryland.
He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 28 years in California and Maryland. He was a mail carrier in the Halfway and Hagerstown areas.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the church council. He administered communion to church members who were homebound and was a member of the hospital visitation committee.
He served as a volunteer fireman in Ferndale, Md.
He was selected as one of 10 Eagle Scouts from Maryland to attend the World Boy Scout Jamboree in Ontario, Canada.
He coached a Hagerstown Little League team.
He is survived by his wife, June Stolins; four daughters, Connie J. Peacock of Las Vegas, Mary Ann Ahrens of Huntington Beach, Calif., Vicki S. Mehsling of Edgewood, Md., and Kimberly A. Jones of Hagerstown; three sons, Douglas G. Witherington of Vista, Calif., Thomas R. Witherington of Clarksville, Tenn., and John E. Stolins of Clear Spring; two sisters, Carolyn Griffith of Kingsville, Md., and Louise Marshall of Disputanta, Va.; a brother, Arthur Stolins of Huntington Beach; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 216 N. Cleveland Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. Raymond H. Shriver will officiate.
Private burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday following the memorial service in the church social hall.
