Edna M. Clingan
Edna M. Brown Clingan, 94, of 1505 Dual Highway, Hagerstown, and formerly of Greencastle, Pa., died Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, at her home.
Born Sept. 28, 1904, in Zullinger, Pa., she was the daughter of the late J. F. and Viola Barnhart Brown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd M. Clingan, in 1991. They were married
Sept. 4, 1973.
She first worked at Interwoven Stocking Factory in Chambersburg, Pa. and later in Greencastle. Then, in 1936 she became a beautician and had her own beauty shop for 35 years. She also worked at the Family Restaurant of Greencastle after her career as a beautician.
She was a member of Hagerstown Bible Church.
She was a member of AARP.
She is survived by two stepdaughters, Beatrice Toms and Gladys Highness, both of Frederick, Md.; a stepson, Alan N. Clingan of Greencastle; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters; and a brother.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Miller-Grove Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle. The Rev. Gerald D. Carbaugh will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Howard R. Goodson
CHOCTAW, Okla. - Howard Raymond Goodson, 69, of Choctaw, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 1999, at South West Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Born Jan. 29, 1930, in Baltimore County, Md., he was the son of the late Burgin and Evelyn Mae Lloyd Goodson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara "Bonnie" Goodson.
He retired as an air traffic controller and had been employed by the University of Oklahoma for six years.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by a daughter, Paula Lynn Cook of Edgewood, Md.; a son, Michael Lee Goodson of Frederick, Md.; five stepdaughters, Robin Hurmence of Fayetteville, N.C., Michelle Alice Weaver, Carla Lynne Weaver and Rebecca A. Cullins, all of Moore, Oklahoma and Barbara Batista of Union City, Calif.; six grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and his companion, Shirley J. Cullins.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Whipp; a sister, H. Lloyd Sharp; and two brothers, Kenneth Burgin Goodson and Nelson Albin Goodson.
Service will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Verna M. Lonsway
SAVANNAH, Ga. - Verna May Lonsway, 97, of Savannah, and formerly of Kenton, Ohio, Baltimore, Williamsport and Hagerstown, died Friday, Aug. 6, 1999, at Memorial Health University Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, William Lonsway.
She was a graduate of Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio. She received her masters degree and completed her doctoral studies at the University of Maryland.
She was a retired teacher and counselor with Baltimore City schools.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Hagerstown.
She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star; Maryland Retired Teacher's Association; Retired Teacher's Association in Hagerstown; and a member of Women's Cub in Catonsville, Md. and Hagerstown.
She is survived by two daughters, Louise L. Wilson of Savannah and Ann L. Merson of Alexandria, Va.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are by Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel, Savannah.
Gary L. Glass
FOXVILLE, Md. - Gary Lee Glass, 54, of 14604 Old Catoctin Road, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, at his home.
Born April 30, 1945, in Thurmont, Md., he was the son of the late Palmer Eugene and Earlean Virginia Davis Glass.
He attended Thurmont High School.
He worked for the Frederick County Board of Education at the Career and Technology Center in Frederick for 14 years.
He enjoyed antique cars, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Lee Hurley Glass, whom he married
Feb. 5, 1965; a son, Duane Glass of Smithsburg; a stepson, David Lingg of Frederick, Md.; three sisters, Sylvia Weant, Arlene Fogle and Cindy Shire, all of Thurmont; a brother, Larry Glass of Thurmont; three granddaughters; an aunt; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Glass and Ricky Glass.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Thurmont Funeral Home of Robert E. Dailey and Son, 615 E. Main St., Thurmont. The Rev. William Kercheval, pastor of Mount Bethel United Methodist Church, Foxville, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Bethel Cemetery, Foxville.
Visitation will be Monday from 1 to 9 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made in his memory to Mount Bethel United Methodist Church, 14110 Stottlemyer Road, Smithsburg, MD 21783.
Leonard D. Thomas
WILLIAMSPORT - Leonard D. Thomas, 85, of 16505 Virginia Ave., died Thursday, Aug. 5, 1999, at Homewood Retirement Center.
Born June 24, 1914, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late George A. and Sophia J. Wibberley Thomas.
He retired in 1977 from Pangborn Corp. after 43 years of service.
He was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie M. Thomas; a sister, Gladys E. Boyle of Gaithersburg, Md.; a niece; and a great-niece and great-nephew.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Richard W. Simpson will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. and Monday, one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Eileen D. Ether
Eileen Drury Ether, 84, of 12803 Cathedral Ave., and formerly of New York, died Friday, Aug. 6, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 2, 1915, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Edward Patrick and Loretta McGlennan Drury.
Her husband, William Harvey Ether, died in 1966.
She was retired from Sears & Roebuck, where she was a buyer in the New York City buying office. In her earlier years, she was a model with Ford Modeling Agency. She was selected as National Beauty Queen.
She was a member of Rosary Society of St. Brigid's Roman Catholic Church in Westbury, N.Y.
She was a member and past president of West Point Parents Club of Long Island, N.Y.
She is survived by a daughter, Dr. Maureen Ether Sasse of Hagerstown; a son, William Michael Ether of Long Island and Denver; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Erin Sasse of Hagerstown.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Dolores Menzing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1525 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. Edward Manalis will be celebrant. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.
