Phyllis Stauffer
VENTURA, Calif. - Phyllis Whitlock Schilt Stauffer, 68, of Ventura, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999.
Born in 1931 in Port Chester, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Elsie Schilt.
She attended Glenville Elementary School and graduated from Greenwich High School in 1948. She was admitted to Wellesley on a Pendleton scholarship and attended for two years. She graduated from Wheelock College in 1952 with a bachelor of science degree and a primary grade teacher's certificate.
She taught in the Newton, Mass., school system for two years.
She and her husband lived in Lahore, Pakistan and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
She was a member of Community Presbyterian Church in Ventura.
She was a member of Conococheague Institute and Interpretive Museum in Mercersburg, Pa., Ventura County Historical Society and Museum, Ojai Museum and Washington County Museum of Fine Arts. She was a member of Ventura Audubon Society.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Dr. John C. Stauffer; a son, David of Greenwich; two daughters, Sarah of San Jose, Calif., and Rachel of San Francisco; two sisters, Elise Clark of Boca Raton, Fla., and Paula Dawson of Mill Valley, Calif.; and a grandchild.
Services will be in Greenwich.

Martin E. Durboraw
Martin E. Durboraw, 63, of 14832 Cearfoss Pike, Hagerstown, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Aug. 18, 1935, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Ellsworth L. and Ethel Laird Durboraw Rowe.
He was employed as a truck driver for Craig Paving in Hagerstown for 12 years. He then was a truck driver for Interstate Paving in Hagerstown.
He was a member of Clarence Armstrong VFW Post 6241 and Harry Lackhove American Legion Post 517, both in Mercersburg, Pa., and Loyal Order of Moose 1191 in Waynesboro, Pa.
He is survived by his companion of 15 years, Mary E. Cook; one uncle; two stepaunts; one stepuncle; and cousins.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Ollen O. Craig will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery in Mercersburg.
A viewing will be held at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday at 1 p.m.
Gertrude H. Shrader
Gertrude H. Shrader, 73, of 433 S. Edgewood Drive, Hagerstown, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village.
Born Feb. 8, 1926, in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Grant V. and Bessie U. Faulder Myers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Shrader Jr., in 1995.
She was a buyer in the notions department and manager in budget dresses at Eyerly's Department Store; and manager in better dresses and foundations at Bon-Ton department store.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Funkstown, and was chairwoman of the Social Ministry Committee.
She was a former member and leader of Shawnee Girl Scout Council; and a member of Beaver Creek Lions Club; Order of the Eastern Star Hagerstown 89; Re Temple 118 Daughters of the Nile; Hagerstown Women's Democratic Club; Elks Lodge 378 and Funkstown Senior Citizens. She sponsored Senior Citizens Bus Tours.
She is survived by one daughter, Nancy J. Newkirk of Middletown, Md.; one son, Steven W. Shrader of Williamsport; one sister, Vera Forrest of Hagerstown; six grandchildren, one great-grandson; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Funkstown. The Rev. Darrell L. Layman will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, with a memorial service at 8 p.m. by the Order of Eastern Star 89.

Harry G. Shoop
Harry Glenn Shoop, 40, of 65 Madison Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, Aug. 2, 1999, at his home.
Born Feb. 21, 1959, in Washington County, he was the son of Emma Shoop Mellott of Hagerstown and the late Eugene Shoop.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Chrisann Shoop; one son, Harry David Shoop, at home; two sisters, Rhoda Johnson of Clear Spring and Linda Armstrong of Williamsport; and four brothers, Robert Shoop of Clear Spring, Larry Shoop of Shippensburg, Pa., and Richard Shoop and Roy Shoop, both of Hagerstown.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Jeanette R. LeResche
Jeanette Rose LeResche, 75, of Cool Hollow Road, died Thursday, July 29, 1999, at her home.
Born July 6, 1924, in LaPorte, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Nelson and Rose Ahlgrim Scherer.
Her husband, Gordon M. LeResche, died in 1993.
She worked in the retail industry.
She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in LaPorte, and taught Sunday school.
She was a member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority; LaPorte Yacht Club; and Beechwood Golf Course Women's Golf Association; and a member and past president of St. Joe Valley Women's Golf Association.
She is survived by a daughter, Gail Metzner, with whom she lived; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Brad A. LeResche, in 1992.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family in LaPorte. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery.

Mary L. Roof
Mary Louise Roof, 83, a resident of Ravenwood Lutheran Village, Hagerstown, died Saturday, July 31, 1999, at Ravenwood.
Born Sept. 13, 1915, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Ellis and Alice V. Ruth Roof.
She was employed by Victor Hosiery and Interwoven Stocking Co.
She was a member of Christ's Reformed Church.
She is survived by a niece, Judith A. Vanderpool of Oregon; three nephews, Charles Ronald Martin of Waynesboro, Pa., Gary Roof and George O. Funkhouser, both of Hagerstown; two great-nieces; four great-nephews and a cousin.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Violet Martin, Garnetta Funkhouser, Vivian Roof and Jayne O. Roof; and two brothers, Elgin Roof and Harold Roof.
Services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Don R. Stevenson will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
