Louise V. Porter
BRUNSWICK, Md. - Louise Virginia Porter, 93, of 22 N. Virginia Ave., died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at Northampton Manor in Frederick, Md.
Born Nov. 2, 1905, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Chauncey Shepard and Florence Thompson Nicodemus.
She worked as a florist, retiring from Brunswick Florist.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Brunswick, United Methodist Women and a former choir member.
She was a member and past worthy matron of Brunswick Chapter No. 97 of Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by two sons, Bruce Porter of Brunswick and Gary Porter of Bridgewater, Va.; a sister, Norma Knepp of Augusta, Ga.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Shafer.
Services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick. The Rev. Clark D. Carr will officiate. Burial will be in Park Heights Cemetery, Brunswick.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open today from 11 a.m.

Sydney L. Householder
Sydney Lynn Householder, infant daughter of Craig Russell and Melissa Sue Murphy Householder of 15620 Fairview Road, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by maternal grandparents, Roger and Joyce Murphy of Hancock; paternal grandparents, Robert and Darlene Householder of Smithsburg; maternal great-grandparents, Gene and Fern Hart of Warfordsburg, Pa.; maternal great-grandmother, Marie Reed of Big Pool; paternal great-grandmother, Madeline Hendershot of Clear Spring; two aunts; an uncle; two cousins; great-aunts and great-uncles.
She was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandfather, Nelson Reed; paternal great-grandparents, Leonard and Sarah Householder; and paternal great-grandfather, Virgil Hendershot.
Graveside services will be Friday at 9 a.m. at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 17636 W. Washington St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Daniel Jordan will officiate.
Arrangements are by Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport.
Madeline L. Biser
CASCADE - Madeline Laura Davis Biser, 76, of 14559 Pennersville Road, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 13, 1922, in Cascade, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Elizabeth M. Poole Davis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Delbert Biser, in 1996. They were married
Feb. 15, 1941.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Germantown Church of God, Cascade, and Women's Ministry.
She is survived by three sons, Ronald W. Biser of Thurmont, Md., C. Delbert Biser of Waynesboro, Pa., and Michael R. Biser of Cascade; four sisters, Mary F. Pearce of Baltimore, Catherine E. Eyler of Sabillasville, Md., Alta L. Richardson of Richmond, Va., and Janet L. Rutherford of Huntsville, Ala.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald R. Davis and John W. Davis Jr.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Germantown Church of God, 16924 Raven Rock Road, Cascade. The Revs. Paul Tobias and Ernest Pletcher will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Church Cemetery, Cascade.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.

Alice O. Swope
Alice Olive Swope, 69, of 20236 Beaver Creek Road, Hagerstown, and formerly of San Mar, Md., died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born May 6, 1930, in Frederick County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Albert M. and Olive C. Kline Palmer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lee Swope, in 1980.
She was formerly employed as a nurses' aide at Fahrney-Keedy Home in Boonsboro.
She was a member of Hagerstown Evangelistic Temple.
She was a member of AARP.
She is survived by five sons, Donald G. Swope of Beaver Creek, Roger L. Swope of Westminster, Md., David E. Swope of Hagerstown, Gary T. Swope of Mesa, Ariz., and Samuel A. Swope of Dunnellon, Fla.; a sister, Evelyn L. Lewis of Boonsboro; two brothers, Glenn A. Palmer and Melvin E. Palmer, both of Myersville, Md.; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil G. Palmer.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Thomas Stottlemyer will officiate. Burial will be in Beaver Creek Cemetery.

Ethel B. Needy
BOONSBORO - Ethel Blanche Renner Needy, 89, of 21305 Mount Lena Road, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at her home.
Born March 30, 1910, in Mount Lean, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Anna Louise Kephart Renner.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Merle Forrest, in 1934; and her second husband, John Henry Needy, in 1988.
She was the owner and operator of The Spot Restaurant in Mount Lena for 50 years.
She is survived by two sons, Robert M. Forrest of Falling Waters, W.Va., and William E. Forrest of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd Renner and Leroy Renner.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Charles R. Holder will officiate. Burial will be in Middletown Lutheran Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Arthur D. Bowers
MOORESTOWN, N.J. - Arthur Donald Bowers, 89, of Moorestown, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Sunday, June 27, 1999, at Rancocas Hospital in Willingboro, N.J.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardelle Hookins Bowers.
He was a 1927 graduate of Hagerstown High School. He received a doctorate in chemistry from the University of Maryland in 1935.
He worked for Campbell Soup Co. in Camden, N.J., for 40 years, retiring in 1975 as technical administrator.
He was a member of Institute of Food Technologists; and American Association for the Advancement of Science.
He was a member of Moorestown Field Club; and Save the Environment of Moorestown.
He was a past president of Moorestown Kiwanis Club.
He is survived by two daughters, Miriam L. Bowers and Julia A. Schnug; two sons, Carlton Bowers and Paul S. Bowers; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Rhoda Bowers; and a brother, Paul Bowers.
Memorial services were held Friday, July 9, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Moorestown.
