WILLIAMSPORT - Lena A. Batt, 95, formerly of 16 Peach Lane, died Friday, July 23, 1999, at Reeder's Memorial Home, Boonsboro.
Born Aug. 8, 1903, in Falling Waters, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William Theodore and Alice Virginia Emerson Barnes.
She was employed by Hagerstown Shoe Co. for 33 years.
She was a member of First Brethren Church, Hagerstown.
She was a member of Williamsport Homemakers and A.A.R.P.
She is survived by two daughters, Gloria L. Elias of Hagerstown and Doris L. Davis of Williamsport; one son, Raymond T. Batt of Pleasant Hill, Calif.; one sister, Edith Clary of Hagerstown, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Barnes and Andrew Barnes.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, 600 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Bruce A. Foster will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Brethren Church, 100 S. Mulberry St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

LaMar M. Slocum
LaMar Myers Slocum, 81, of 18721 Briarwood Drive, Hagerstown, died Saturday, July 24, 1999, at her home.
Born March 22, 1918, in Oxford, Md., she was the daughter of the late William H. and Wilson Strayer Myers.
She was a 1935 graduate of Oxford High School and a 1939 graduate of Western Maryland College.
She taught from 1940 to 1980 in Washington County public schools.
She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church.
She was a member of Fountain Head Country Club, Hagerstown Garden Club, Oxford Museum and Maryland Retired Teachers Association.
She was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in 1988 for golf and in 1995 she was inducted into the Western Maryland College Alumni Sports Hall of Fame.
She is survived by one brother, William H. Myers Jr. of Oxford; one stepson, John Slocum of Hagerstown; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Paul R. Myers.
Memorial services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at John Wesley United Methodist Church, 129 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. F. Richard Leslie will officiate. Burial will be in Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
There will be no viewing.

Edna M. Grimm
BOONSBORO - Edna Mae Grimm, 94, of 141 S. Main St., and formerly of Trego, Md., died Saturday, July 24, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born June 15, 1905, in New Cumberland, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Catherine Sipe Danner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Milton Grimm, in 1967.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Rohrersville, Md.
She was a member of Clopper-Michael Post No. 10 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Boonsboro.
She is survived by three daughters, Margaret Rohrer of Sharpsburg, Pauline Higdon of Falls Church, Va. and Delores Duncan of Phoenix; two sons, Herbert H. Grimm of Rocky Ridge, Md. and James E. Smith of Smithsburg; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Wilbur Richard Grimm.
Memorial services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church, Main Street, Rohrersville. The Rev. Carolyn Boyce will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing or visitation.

Wanda S. Myers
BRISTOL, Tenn. - Wanda Sue Myers, 62, of Bristol, died Friday, July 23, 1999, at Welmont Hospice House.
She was the daughter of the late Chester and Susan Clopper Wastler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold H. Myers.
She was the owner and operator of Myers Group Home in Fort Myers, Fla.
She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Fort Myers; and attended Tennessee Avenue Baptist Church in Bristol.
She is survived by a daughter, Clista Roberts of Fort Myers; a son, Corey Myers of Bristol; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Fort Myers. The Rev. Richard E. Riley will officiate. Burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Phil Kiser Funeral Home in Fort Myers.

Charles H. Deater Jr.
FREDERICK, Md. - Charles Henry "Mutt" Deater Jr., 63, of Carrollton Drive, died Thursday, July 22, 1999, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born May 4, 1936, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Charles Henry and Virginia M. Staub Deater Sr.
He was a career firefighter for 31 years for the city of Frederick, United Fire Company No. 3. He was a paid driver from 1960 to 1989. He served in the Operational Sector of the department, where he held positions such as hose director, chief pipeman and assistant pipeman. In the Administrative Sector, he served as director and vice president for many years.
He was a member of Parkway Community Church, Frederick.
He joined United Fire Company No. 3, on July 1, 1957; he held numerous positions and was a life member. He also was president of Johnny Swamper Club for numerous years. He was a member of Elks Lodge No. 684; Moose Lodge; and Cold-Deer Hunting Club. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Karla Federline Deater; six children, John W. Deater, Kelly E. Deater, Mary E. Scott, Linda L. Deater-Sandy, Laura A. Dennis and Matthew F. Danner; a sister, Brenda S. Brittain; two brothers, James A. Deater and Richard A. Deater; eight grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Cletta P. Abrecht.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Pastor Howard Ruley will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may call today from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
