Joan G. Kerkam
LEWES, Del. - Joan Goodwyn Kerkam, 63, of Lewes, and formerly of Washington, D.C., died Thursday, July 22, 1999, at her home.
She was born Feb. 15, 1936, in Baltimore.
She was a practical private duty nurse. In 1993, she founded The Figurehead ladies' boutique on Second Street in Lewes.
She is survived by her husband, William B. Kerkam Jr.; two daughters, Roxanne L. Goodwyn of Williamsport and Candace Byrd of Myersville, Md.; two sons, James R. Goodwyn Jr. of Rehoboth Beach, Del., and John M. Goodwyn of Sharpsburg; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services and burial will be private at Cape Henlopen State Park.
There will be no visitation.

Dorothy B. Shorter
CLEAR SPRING - Dorothy B. Shorter, 73, of 122 Cumberland St., died Thursday, July 22, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 5, 1926, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Franklin and Dora Socks Wyand.
Her husband, Archie L. Shorter, died March 17, 1999.
She owned and operated Archie's Place in Clear Spring.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Sue Noland and Diane Brant, both of Clear Spring; one son, Jerry Brant of Clear Spring; one stepson, Archie Shorter of Baltimore; three brothers, Franklin Wyand and Richard Wyand, both of Hagerstown, and George Wyand of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Lou Showe; and one brother, Glenn Wyand.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert S. Barton will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Leonard L. Lavoie
PHOENIX - Leonard L. Lavoie, 72, of 18026 N. Cave Creek Road, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, July 21, 1999, at his home.
Born Jan. 26, 1927, in Fitchburg, Mass., he was the son of the late Joseph F.A. and Stella Loyzell Lavoie.
He was a retired maintenance supervisor.
He was a Roman Catholic.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa R. Godin Lavoie, whom he married
Sept. 11, 1948; four daughters, Catherine R. Ennis of Hagerstown, Susan E. Donahue and Mary C. Lavoie, both of Phoenix, and Patricia S. Roch of Washington, D.C.; five sons, Paul D. Lavoie of Sumerduck, Va., Leonard R. Lavoie of Great Falls, Mont., David A. Lavoie of Franklin, Ky., John R. Lavoie of Gainesville, Va., and Bernard C. Lavoie of Phoenix; two sisters, Edith Amburgey of Lunenburg, Mass., and Anne Caouette of Miami; one brother, Ralph Lavoie of Rindge, N.H.; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family in Phoenix.

Dorothy J. Martin
Dorothy Jane Martin, 72, of 26 Berner Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, July 22, 1999, at her home.
Born Dec. 27, 1926, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Eugene and Jessie Maude Koontz Stoner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Allen "Dick" Martin, in 1993.
She was employed by B.F. Goodrich; and previously by Rohr Industries and Fairchild Aircraft.
She was a member of Eagles No. 694; AARP; UAW Local 842; and VFW No. 1936 Auxiliary.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty E. Martin and Mary Ann Stickler, both of Hagerstown; two sisters, Iona Boward and Peggy Ann Wilson, both of Hagerstown; a brother, Robert W. Stoner of Hagerstown; two grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Blossom Martin; and two brothers, Jack Stoner and Warren Stoner.
Services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. George A. Limmer will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Harvey L. Jamison
Harvey Lester Jamison, 85, of 9632 Downsville Pike, Hagerstown, died Thursday, July 22, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 25, 1914, in Antietam Furnace, he was the son of the late Clinton Hubert and Rosie Clipp Jamison.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda A. Baker Jamison, in 1968.
He retired in 1976 after 31 years as a boiler operator at Potomac Edison's R. Paul Smith Power Plant in Williamsport.
He was a member of St. James Brethren Church, and had been a deacon and trustee.
He was a member of Potomac Edison Forerunners; Quarter Century Club; AARP; Long Meadow Senior Bowling League; and Southside Senior Bowling League.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Hoffman Bloom Jamison, whom he married
Aug. 26, 1970; a daughter, Barbara A. Miller of Hagerstown; a son, Marvin L. Jamison of Sharpsburg; a stepdaughter, Cindy Bloom Beaman of Vienna, Va.; two stepsons, Myron L. Bloom III and Steven H. Bloom, both of Williamsport; a sister, Hattie Carroll of Williamsport; a brother, W. David Jamison of Williamsport; seven grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mabel Waters and Florence Easterday; and a brother, Hubert Jamison.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. James Brethren Church. The Rev. Brian H. Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. Friends also may call Monday at 10 a.m. at the church.

Faustine I. Scott
Faustine Isabel Scott, 91, of 450 Sumans Ave., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, July 21, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Feb. 6, 1908, in Clear Spring, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Ranson Watts Briscoe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence R. Scott, in 1962.
She attended high school in Baltimore.
She had been employed by Governor and Mrs. Lane.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, was a Communion Steward and a member of Willing Workers Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Anna D. Scott and Doris L. Scott, both of Hagerstown; two sisters, Henrietta Smith of Linden, N.J., and Rebecca Randall of Gaithersburg, Md.; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and six great-geat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Reginald G. Scott; a sister, Catherine Duson; four brothers, Charles Briscoe, Lester Briscoe, Wilmer Briscoe and Donald Briscoe; and a grandson.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Asbury Methodist Church. The Rev. Yvonne Mercer Staten will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday at noon at the church.
