Mary E. Shoemaker
WESTMINSTER, Md. - Mary Eurilla Rohrer Shoemaker, 94, of Westminster, died Thursday, July 22, 1999, at Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center.
Born March 8, 1905, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John William and Annie Leckron Rohrer.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Albert Otto Shoemaker, in 1983.
She graduated with highest honors in 1923 from Broadway High School in Hagerstown. She passed the Teachers' Exam and attended summer school classes at State Normal School in Towson, Md.
She taught public school in Carroll County, Md. She operated a private kindergarten in Westminster for 19 years. She then was on the administrative staff of Western Maryland College, for 18 years, retiring in 1975.
In May 1988, she was chosen Carroll County's winner in Governor William Donald Schaefer's first "Senior Citizens' Creative Writing Contest." She wrote of her memories teaching in the one room school at Ridgeville, Md.
She held offices with Westminster Senior Citizens' Club; and was on the board of directors of the Senior Overland Service. She was a member of Park Square Senior Citizens; Carroll County Chapter of AARP; Carroll County Historical Society; and Carroll County General Hospital Auxiliary.
She was a member of Westminster United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy S. Smith of Vienna, Va.; a son, Robert Harold Shoemaker of Westminster; a sister, Frances Davies of Hagerstown; a brother, Robert H. Rohrer of Hagerstown; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace deForest and Ethel Unger; and three brothers, William Rohrer, John Rohrer and Harold Rohrer.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. The Revs. David Highfield and David S. Schafer will officiate. Burial will be in Krider's Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

William R. Palmer
William Richard Palmer, 46, of 16124 Broadfording Road, died Tuesday, July 20, 1999, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.
Born Dec. 4, 1952, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Luther David and Lola May Reickard Palmer.
He was employed by Krumpe's Do-Nuts and was self-employed in hauling.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy A. Palmer; two daughters, Tera Yost of Hagerstown and Sabrina Ramroop of Silver Spring, Md.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Shelva O. Clark
Shelva Ora Lee Clark, 61, of 17518 Green Meadow Lane, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, July 21, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Feb. 26, 1938, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late James Byron and Beulah Armatha Fox Adams.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lloyd Clark Jr., in 1976.
She was a 1956 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Hagerstown Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by two daughters, Shelva J. Hebert of Williamsport and Sheila J. Landis of Hedgesville, W.Va.; a son, John L. Clark III of Hagerstown; four sisters, Althea A. Rase and Wanda S. Winner, both of Hagerstown, Marilyn F. Upchurch of Reston, Va., and Kay J. Barilla of Baltimore; a foster sister, Sheryll A. Kees of Clear Spring; three foster brothers, Gregory E. Snyder, Charles I. Snyder and Harold W. Snyder, all of Hagerstown; and three grandchildren.
There will be no viewing.
Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 127 Britner Ave., Williamsport. The Rev. Janice E. Dorsey will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.

Bernice L. Trumpower
Bernice Leona Trumpower, 84, of 11 W. Baltimore St., died Tuesday July 20, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 26, 1914, in Longdale, Va., she was the daughter of the late Ottmer Berry and Gertie Lee Overstreet Smith.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur Raymond Clifton; her second husband, Maxwell Wareham Miller; and her third husband, Walter Lloyd Trumpower, in 1960.
She was employed by Hagerstown Leather Co., retiring in 1974.
She was a member of Evangel Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Ottmer McDowell Clifton of Goshen, Va., and Maxwell Junior Miller of Hagerstown; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Ernest Thompson will officiate.
There will be no viewing.

Betty Jane Coe
WALKERSVILLE, Md. - Betty Jane Coe, 56, of 8 Glade Court, died Monday, July 19, 1999, at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.
Born Sept. 22, 1942, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late David M. and Mary Collis Rowland.
She retired from the Frederick County (Md.), Board of Education as a secretary at Walkersville Middle School.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Walkersville.
She was a member of Frederick Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, William V. Coe, whom she married
May 27, 1961; one daughter, Cathy Coe of Frederick; one son, David V. Coe of Boonsboro; two sisters, Virginia Miller of Sharpsburg, and Anna Louden of Martinsburg; one brother, Charles W. Rowland of Inwood, W.Va.; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, William Lee Coe; and two brothers.
Graveside services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Salem Lutheran cemetery in Bakersville, Md. The Rev. Mark L. Foucart will officiate.

Ethel J. Sine
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Ethel Josephine Sine, 77, of 35 E St., N.W., died Tuesday, July 20, 1999, at Doctors Community Hospital in Lanham, Md.
Born March 18, 1922, in Brunswick, Md., she was the daughter of the late Charles William Sine Sr. and Ethel Viola Everhart Sine.
She was a retired supervisor for AT & T in Washington, D.C.
She is survived by three sisters, Anna Louise Tresek of Temple Hills, Md., Bettymae Sine of Brunswick and Virginia D. Hedges of Silver Spring, Md.; three brothers, Charles W. Sine Jr. of New Carrollton, Md., Donald W. Sine of Belleair, Fla., and Douglas L. Sine of Laurel, Md.; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick. The Rev. Clark D. Carr will officiate. Burial will be in Knoxville Reformed Cemetery, Knoxville, Md.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
