Gary A. Moning
Gary Albert Moning, 69, of 1060 Fairview Road, Hagerstown, died Thursday, July 15, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 27, 1929, in Cleveland, he was the son of the late Henry Albert and Laura Eleanor Carlson Moning.
He was a 1952 graduate of Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va.
He was employed by Fairchild Aircraft; and later retired from Grove Worldwide in 1988.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War attached to the Corps of Engineers.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
He was a member of Friendship Lodge No. 84 AF & AM.
He is survived by a brother, H. Clarke Moning of Hagerstown; his caregiver, Clara Watson of Hagerstown; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon G. Moning.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ralph D. Bartles Sr.
Ralph Daniel "Red" Bartles Sr., 71, of 10729 Oak Forest Drive, Hagerstown, died Thursday, July 15, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 13, 1928, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Mary C. Hamby Bartles of Hagerstown and the late Herman Samuel Bartles.
He was employed by Wonder Bread; Fairchild Aircraft; and retired from General Motors in 1990 after 22 years.
He was a World War II veteran with the U.S. Navy Reserves serving in the South Pacific.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
He attended St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
He was a member of U.A.W. Local 1590 and served on the Executive Board for 18 years.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 1936; Funkstown American Legion No. 211; Eagles Inc. of Waynesboro, Pa.; and Junior Fire Co. of Hagerstown.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 50 years, Etta Louise Slayman Bartles; three sons, Ralph D. Bartles Jr., Gary L. Bartles and Robert P. Bartles, all of Hagerstown; three brothers, Herman M. Bartles of Falling Waters, W.Va., George R. Bartles and Robert L. Bartles, both of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond H. Bartles and Harry P. Bartles.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Revs. Susan M. Hallagher and Thomas L. Perry will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lucille M. Tessier
RANDALLSTOWN, Md. - Lucille Marie Tessier, 59, of Randallstown, died Tuesday, July 13, 1999, at her home.
Born March 6, 1940, in Linwood, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Marc William Patterson and Beatrice Nolet.
She was a member of Holy Family Church Choir; St. Vincent DePaul Beans and Bread; Womens Golf League in Walkersville, and was a Girl Scouts of America leader for approximately 10 years.
She is survived by her husband, Gregory Tessier; four daughters, Christine M. Seabright, Lisa A. Keller, Julie A. Seabright, and Catherine L. Vlassis; two sons, Gregory J. Tessier and Paul A. Tessier; three sisters, Eleanor Lamoreaux, Anne M. Michaud and Diane Creighton; four brothers, Marc Patterson, Robert Patterson, William Patterson, and Joseph Patterson; 15 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, James Patterson.
Services will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Randallstown. The Rev. Jack Lombardi will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Loring Byers Funeral Directors, 8728 Liberty Road, Randallstown.

Gary S. Blair
HARRISON TOWNSHIP, N.J. - Gary S. Blair, 54, of Harrison Township, died Wednesday, July 14, 1999, at his home.
Born in Hagerstown, he was the son of Helen Bair of Clear Spring.
He graduated from Carlisle-Camden Military Academy in South Carolina; and attended Penn Military College in Chester, Pa.
He was a self-employed contractor.
He was a past member of the Masons; and Moose Lodge No. 932 of Woodstown, N.J.
He is survived by his wife, Virgina Atkinson Blair; three daughters, Kimberly Gavin and Tracey Price, both of Newark, Del., and Caitlin Blair of Harrison Township; a son, Michael Blair of Middletown, Del.; a sister, Cathy Bair of Clear Spring; and seven grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Means Funeral Home, 63 N. Main St., Mullica Hill, N.J.

Scott M. Mitchell Sr.
ROHRERSVILLE, Md. - Scott McCorkle Mitchell Sr., 79, of 3701 Clear Run Place, died Wednesday, July 14, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 14, 1920, in Memphis, Tenn., he was the son of the late Will Poindexter and Nell Ruth McCorkle Mitchell.
He graduated from high school in Arkansas; attended Washington University College of Fine Arts in St. Louis; and graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park.
He was employed for 33 years as an engineer with Vitro Electronics in Silver Spring, Md., retiring in 1983.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the South Pacific during World War II and in Germany during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Scully Mitchell, whom he married
in 1948; two daughters, Margaret M. Wester of Boyce, Va., and Kerry Lynn Marks of Germantown, Md.; a son, Scott M. Mitchell Jr. of Gaithersburg, Md.; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. Burial will be in Memphis, Tenn., at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing or visitation.

Charles W. Miles Sr.
WINCHESTER, Ky. - Charles William Miles Sr. of Winchester, and formerly of Elkridge, Md., died Tuesday, July 13, 1999.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Velma Mathias Miles.
He is survived by his second wife, Nettie W. Miles; a daughter, Wanda L. Hill; a son, Charles William Miles Jr.; two sisters, Naomi Mattheiss and Vivian Smith; a brother, Vernon Miles; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Donald L. Miles.
Services will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home, at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge. Burial will be in Meadowridge Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
