Ruth A. Hartsock
MYERSVILLE, Md. - Ruth Anna Hartsock, 56, of Myersville, died Sunday, July 11, 1999, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born June 15, 1943, in Frederick, Md., she was the daughter of the late Elmer Hezekiah and Catherine Dutrow Baker.
She was a member of Harmony Community Lutheran Church.
She was co-founder of Myersville PTA, and held all offices including president. She held all offices in Middletown Middle School PTA. She was a former Cub Scout den mother for Myersville Cub Scouts.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, William L. Hartsock; one daughter, Audrey Strawsburg of Myersville; two sons, William L. Hartsock Jr. and Cliff Hartsock, both of Myersville; two sisters, Nancy L. Graham of Frederick, and Cathy Capino of Myersville; one brother, Harry E. Baker of Middletown; four grandchildren; one step granddaughter; nieces and nephews.
Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Harmony Community Lutheran Church. The Rev. Robert Ruble will officiate. Burial will be in Harmony Community Center.

Beth H. Laatsch
LITTLE ORLEANS, Md. - Beth Hays Laatsch, 85, of Swain Road, and formerly of Jefferson City, Mo., died Sunday, July 11, 1999, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Trish and Ron Twentey.
Born Sept. 6, 1913, in Corder, Mo., she was the daughter of the late John Adams and Eva Elizabeth O'Malley Wollenman.
She was employed in the 1930s and 1940s as a reporter for the Evansville, Ind., Courier Journal, the Oklahoma City Daily Oklahoman, The Dayton Herald, and was city editor for the Columbia Missourian and associate professor at the University of Missouri School of Journalism in Columbia, Mo. She retired in 1980 after 25 years as an elementary teacher, most recently in Carrollton, Mich.
She was a member of Community Christian Church in Jefferson City.
She was a member of Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in Jefferson City.
She is survived by one daughter, Trish Twentey; two sisters, Jackie Hearne of Jefferson City, and Mary C. Lane of Westphalia, Mo.; and one niece and nephew.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Freeman Funeral Home, 915 Madison, Jefferson City. The Rev. David Avery will officiate. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. in Memorial Park cemetery in Columbia.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

Frank Marmaduke
Frank Marmaduke, 62, of West Franklin Street, Hagerstown, died Sunday, July 11, 1999, at Western Maryland Hospital Center.
Born Feb. 4, 1937, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late William B. and Margaret A. Slick Marmaduke.
He is survived by two daughters, Tammy Heare and Tina Griffith, both of Hagerstown; two sons, Eric Marmaduke of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Jeff Marmaduke; one sister, Anna Mae Eichelberger of Hagerstown; one brother, William Marmaduke of Hagerstown; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Marmaduke.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg.
Luella M. Snyder
Luella Mary Snyder, 81, of 815 Georgia Ave., Hagerstown, died Sunday, July 11, 1999, at Colton Villa Nursing Center, Hagerstown.
Born Oct. 28, 1917, in Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Harsh and Irene Ann Woolsey Philpott.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Snyder.
She was retired from Washington County Hospital after 20 years of service.
She is survived by two daughters, Connie Tyrrell of Ogden, Utah, and Virginia Snyder of Hagerstown; one son, Charles Snyder of Hagerstown; one brother, Fred Philpott of Warrten, Ga.; three step-sisters, Patsy Blackwell of Michigan, Ellen Smith of Richard City, Tenn., and Leota Philpott of South Pittsburg, Tenn.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Brian Stoops will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
Hilda G. Divel
HANCOCK - Hilda Grace Divel, 89, of Pennsylvania Avenue, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born Sept. 26, 1909, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Martin Luther and Mary Elizabeth Effland Peck.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester C. Divel, who died in 1962.
She was a member of Catlapa United Methodist Church near Hancock.
She is survived by three daughters, Maxine Fleming of Clear Spring, Velda McCusker of Westminster, Md., and Shirley Keller of Hagerstown; two sons, Donald Divel of Hancock and William Divel of Las Vegas; one sister, Gladys Myers of Hagerstown; one brother, Edgar Peck of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Rhea Norma Peck, Mae Hoffman and Pauline Brooks and one brother, George Peck.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock. The Rev. Terrence Foor will officiate. Burial will be in Catalpa United Methodist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open today from 1 to 9 p.m.

Marie A. Dahlhamer
Marie Ahalt Dahlhamer, 71, of 13824 Paradise Church Road, Hagerstown, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 22, 1927, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe C. and Clara Pearl Ahalt.
She was a 1945 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
She was employed at The Herald-Mail Company, Fairchild Hiller Public Relations, Initial manager of Antiques Crossroads and long-time owner of ThisN' ThatN' All Antiques.
She attended various churches in the area.
She was the originator of the mile-long yard sale.
She was a member of A.A.R.P. and former vice president of Women's Aglow.
She was a local artist who studied under Tony Carnelli.
She is survived by her husband, George E. Dahlhamer; three daughters, Drista M. Stultz of Hagerstown, Chrysen Jan Mumma of San Antonio and Blynn H. Dahlhamer-Wilson of Nome, Alaska; one sister, Carmel Ahalt Wirts of Reisterstown, Md.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Loreta Torres and one brother, Eugene Ahalt.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Joseph Quesenberry will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
