After battling cancer for several years, and finally participating in experimental trials, Ed succumbed to his cancer. We thank the kind and dedicated hospice workers who cared for him in his final months.
Ed fought off cancer for several years while at his home in Garrett County. During this time, he lived true to form, independent by every measure. Although it was not in his nature to solicit help, he received much support from neighbors, friends, and the community.
We thank all of those who brought meals and offered kindness to our father in his time of need. He was indeed grateful to you all, and missed the friends and community he left behind in Garrett County.
Those who knew our dad remember his love of learning, reading, and philosophy. He had a never-ending joy of engaging people in conversation, and showed interest and compassion for everyone he met. He was indeed a thinker and an inventor who will be missed by many and whose legacy will live on through his inventions.
