Evelyn V. King
Evelyn Virginia King, 80, of 1100 Luther Drive, Hagerstown, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore.
Born Sept. 30, 1918, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Russell and Julia Ellen Groff Summers.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Donald Keplinger in 1945, and by her second husband, Russell Victor King in 1982.
She was retired from Eyerly's, now Bon Ton, in 1980, after 19 and a half years of service.
She was a member of First Brethren Church since 1934, Women's Missionary Society and Rodger Geaslen Bible Class.
She was a member and past president of West End Senior Citizens, Funkstown Post No. 211 American Legion Auxiliary and AARP. She also was retired from Senior Volunteer Program Commission on Aging.
She is survived by three daughters, Jane Thompson and Peggy Dudley, both of Hagerstown and Jean Price of Harrisonville, Pa.; two sisters, Mildred Louise Poper and Dorothy Jane Burns, both of Hagerstown; a brother, William Ernest Summers of Hagerstown; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Lucille Weaver; and a brother, Clarence Russell Summers.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Bruce Foster will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Priscilla S. Simpson-Lewis
IJAMSVILLE, Md. - Priscilla Sue Simpson-Lewis, 55, of Ijamsville, died Friday, July 9, 1999, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.
Born Nov. 20, 1943, in Takoma Park, Md., she was the daughter of Jane Simms Simpson of Greenbelt, Md., and the late Nicholas T. Simpson.
She was a retired dental assistant in the Montgomery County area.
She was a member of Dental Assistants Association of America.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Elmo Lewis Jr. of Ijamsville; two daughters, Jennifer Frye and Karen Jane Lewis, both of Ijamsville; two sons, Nicholas Wayne Lewis of Point of Rocks, Md., and Brian Theodore Lewis of Ijamsville; two sisters, Evelyn Scali of Greenbelt and Linda Benton of Hanover, Pa.; a brother, Thomas Simpson of Boston; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be private.

M. Louise Saum
M. Louise Saum, 87, formerly of 141 Elm St., Hagerstown, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at Coffman Nursing Home.
Born July 30, 1911, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Keller N. and Carrie Mort Morin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Leroy Saum, in 1980.
She was a member of First Christian Church.
She was a member of Ladies of the Elks No. 378, Washington County Hospital Auxiliary and Funkstown Post No. 211 American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by a daughter, Betty Louise Sama of Hagerstown; three sisters, Ruth M. Renner of Hagerstown, Martha Beauchamp of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Jane Waine of Palatka, Fla.; a brother, Norman E. Morin of Hagerstown; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, William P. Morin and Newton Morin.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. David Shreeves will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, where the Lady Elks will have a memorial service at 7 p.m.
Mary E. Barr
Mary Elizabeth Barr, 66, of Hagerstown, died Friday, July 9, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 24, 1932, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Roy M. and Mary E. Golden Shetron.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Thomas Barr, in 1988.
She is survived by a daughter, Kristi Hottle of Fairplay; two sons, Chauncey Blaine Barr of Fairplay and Wesley B. Barr of Funkstown; three sisters, Geraldine Mowen and Lauretta McCoy, both of Hagerstown, and Carmelita Rauch of York, Pa.; a brother, Ernest Shetron of Hagerstown; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard Shetron and Lloyd Shetron.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery. The Rev. Robert V. Robinson will officiate.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
Ethel J. Davis
FUNKSTOWN - Ethel Jane "Dena" Davis, 77, of Frederick Road, died Friday, July 9, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born June 28, 1922, in Hedgesville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William Lemen and Cora Cleveland Ashton Avey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth G. Davis Sr.
She was a graduate of Tunnelton High School in Tunnelton, W.Va.
She was self-employed as a licensed day care provider. Prior to this, she worked for Washington County Hospital, Sears-Roebuck and Company, and Fairchild Aircraft Corp.
She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Temple.
She is survived by a daughter, Nina K. Davis of Funkstown; two sons, Kenneth G. Davis Jr. and Kevin Scott Davis, both of Hagerstown; two brothers, Paul Avey of Cherry Run, W.Va., and Ernest Avey of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, William Avey.
Services will be Monday at 7 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. Pastor Ed Hampton will officiate.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Hedgesville Cemetery, Hedgesville, W.Va.
The family will receive friends Monday one hour before the services at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open Monday after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.
Patricia A. Baugher
WESTMINSTER, Md. - Patricia Ann Baugher, 58, of Westminster, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at her home.
Born Oct. 30, 1940, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Mae Grossnickle Wolfe of Boonsboro and the late Chester Baker Wolfe.
She was a 1958 graduate of Hagerstown High School. She also graduated from Bridgewater College, Va., and Virginia Commonwealth University.
She worked as a rehabilitation counselor for the state of Maryland, retiring in 1996 after 33 years of service.
She was a member of Westminster Church of the Brethren.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Thomas L. Baugher; and two brothers, Richard L. Wolfe of Arlington, Va., and Robert A. Wolfe of Harrisonburg, Va.
Private graveside burial of ashes will be held at Cedar Lawn cemetery on Washington Street in Hagerstown.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
