Elizabeth K. Munson
IRVING, Texas - Elizabeth Knox Munson, 77, of Irving, and formerly of Hagerstown, Seminole, Fla., Crystal River, Fla., and Durant, Okla., died Tuesday, July 6, 1999, at her home.
She was born Jan. 3, 1922, in Gettysburg, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger F. Munson Sr., in 1989.
She graduated from St. Joseph's High School in Emmitsburg, Md.; and St. Joseph's Hospital and School of Nursing in Baltimore.
She was a volunteer at Baylor Medical Center in Irving. She was a registered nurse in Hagerstown, Seminole, Crystal River and Durant.
She is survived by six children, Elizabeth J. Johnson of Irving, Thomas A. Speakman of Denison, Texas, Rita Ann Shaffer of Hagerstown, Roger Frederick Munson Jr. of Williamsport, Rebecca Marie Mounts of Inverness, Fla., and Rose Mary Tesch of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, David Munson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Irving.
A rosary will be recited today at the church in Irving.
Burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Taneytown, Md.
Arrangements are by Brown's Memorial Funeral Home, Irving.
Raymond A. Thomas
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - Raymond A. Thomas, 82, of Battle Creek, died Friday, July 2, 1999, at BCHS Community Site in Battle Creek.
Born Aug. 22, 1916, in Burkittsville, Md., he was the son of the late Raymond H. and Maude Karn Thomas.
He had been employed as a boilermaker at Sparrows Point Shipyards in Baltimore, retiring in 1964.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II.
He was a member of Operating Engineers Union.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys E. Russ Thomas, whom he married
in 1975; a stepdaughter, Gail E. Christopher of Ocala, Fla.; a sister, Dorothy Ellis of Keedysville; and two brothers, Merle H. Thomas of Battle Creek and Robert J. Thomas of Hagerstown.
Services will be today in Battle Creek.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Fairview cemetery in Keedysville. The Rev. Henry Lutz will officiate.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
Local arrangements are by Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro.
Simon E. Kenny
PYLESVILLE, Md. - Monsignor Simon E. Kenny, 86, of Long Crandon Retirement Center, died Friday, July 2, 1999, at Long Crandon.
He was born in Midland, Md.
He was ordained in 1938, and went to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pylesville. He served as a U.S. Army chaplain during World War II.
After World War II, he returned to St. Mary's. He returned to the U.S. Army in 1951 during the Korean War. He retired as a lieutenant colonel.
He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge No. 378 in Hagerstown.
He is survived by a sister, Sister Patricia Kenny of the Sisters of Charity in Emmitsburg, Md.; nieces and nephews.
Mass will be celebrated Thursday at noon at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pylesville. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Anna Belle Bowman
WILLIAMSPORT - Anna Belle Lena Bowman, 87, of Williamsport Retirement Village, and formerly of 333 Devonshire Road, Hagerstown, died Saturday, July 3, 1999, at Williamsport Retirement Village.
Born April 24, 1912, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Bertha Stafford Pangle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph B. Bowman.
She attended Hagerstown High School.
She was employed at Rosen's Department Store, retiring after more than 25 years.
She was a member of Christ's Reformed Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda B. Mason of Hagerstown; one sister, Mary Jane Appenzellar of Chambersburg, Pa.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Katherine Rhodes, Marguerite Sweeney, Eudora Chrisman and Charlotte Greene.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Ginny Brown Daniel will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Margaret L. Waters
Margaret Louise Waters, 76, of 26652 Beaver Creek Road, Hagerstown, died Sunday, July 4, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 5, 1923, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Pearl Eccard Hill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mason Waters.
She was a graduate of Frostburg State College.
She was a teacher at Smithsburg Elementary School for 32 years.
She was a member of Maryland Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda Bowman of Hagerstown; one son, Mason Waters of Thurmont, Md.; one brother, Earl E. Hill Jr. of Hagerstown; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Brandenburg; and her stepfather, Earl Hill.
Services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Stephen D. Robison will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing.
John C. Sigler Jr.
John C. "Herman" Sigler Jr., 54, of 241 S. Prospect St., Hagerstown, died Friday, July 2, 1999, at Julia Manor Health Care Center in Hagerstown.
Born Dec. 8, 1944, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Helen M. Bartlett Sigler of Hagerstown and the late John C. Sigler Sr.
He was employed by Maryland Ribbon Co.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Janet Griffith of Cavetown; and three brothers, Paul Sigler of Maugansville, Steve Sigler of Hagerstown and Sam Sigler of Williamsport.
Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
