James L. Henry
James Leo Henry, 71, of 10748 Downsville Pike, Hagerstown, died Sunday, July 4, 1999, at his home.
Born June 29, 1928, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Fred Hazel Henry and Minnie Virginia Ramey Henry Winters.
He retired from Western Maryland/Chessie Railroad.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by a son, Gregory Leo Henry of Hagerstown; two sisters, Jennie Coons and JoAnn Fiddler, both of Hagerstown; and a brother, Jack Winters of Falling Waters, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred Henry, Paul Henry and Harry Winters.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Ken Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
There will be no viewing.
Alvin D. Musser
BIG POOL - Alvin Dean Musser, 46, of Big Pool, died Saturday, July 3, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 7, 1952, in Kenton, Ohio, he was the son of Vivian Weber Musser of Berkeley Springs, and the late Arthur Edward Musser.
He was a mechanic at D.M. Bowman Trucking Co. in Williamsport.
He was a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church of Berkeley Springs.
He also was a member of Sons of the American Legion in Clear Spring.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Karen Virginia Michael Musser; one daughter, Heather Nichole Musser of Lima, Ohio; one sister, Joy Shepherd of Lima; and one nephew.
Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Brian Jones and the Rev. Frank Bondurant will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church cemetery in Berkeley Springs.

Alvey V. Martz
SMITHSBURG - Alvey Verdeen Martz, 99, of 11325 Whitehall Road, died Saturday, July 3, 1999, at Colton Villa Nursing Center in Hagerstown.
Born Sept. 4, 1899, in Beaver Creek, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Clara A. Detrow Martz.
His wife, May Virginia Gaver Martz, died in 1984.
He was a farmer.
He was a member of Beaver Creek Christian Church for more than 80 years. He was a member of the Keystone Sunday School Class.
He is survived by one daughter, Edna V. Waltz of Smithsburg; one sister, Naomi M. Smith of Hagerstown; three grandchildren, Robert Martz of Hagerstown, Sharon K. Harrison of Boonsboro, and Mark E. Waltz of Smithsburg; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Calvin L. Martz; one brother, Harry E. Martz; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. J. Mark Curran will officiate. Burial will be in Beaver Creek Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Larry R. Weller
HANCOCK - Larry R. "Chip" Weller, 51, of Orchard Ridge Road, died Saturday, July 3, 1999, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Born March 22, 1948, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Luther Augustas and Mary Elizabeth Mills Weller.
He was a timber cutter, and was previously employed by C. William Hetzer.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by four sisters, Frances Knable of Warfordsburg, Pa., Dorothy Sites of Hancock, Ethel Thatcher of Mercersburg, Pa., and Betty Hensley of Needmore, Pa.; four brothers, Clifford Weller and Clyde Weller, both of Hancock, Floyd Weller of Big Pool, and Calvin Weller of Waynesboro, Pa.; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Jane Weller and Judy Weller; and two brothers, Melvin Weller and James Weller.
Services and burial will be private.
There will be no visitation or viewing.
The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Dorothy Sites, 1006 McKinley Drive, Hancock, MD 21750, to help defray funeral expenses.

William T. DeLauney Sr.
SHARPSBURG - William Thomas "Bill Tom" DeLauney Sr., 71, of 301 W. Main St., died Friday, July 2, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 3, 1928, in Sharpsburg, he was the son of the late Mervin Thomas and Susan Virginia Willingham DeLauney.
His first wife, Betty Jane Moore DeLauney, died in 1956.
He was a 1946 graduate of Boonsboro High School.
He retired from Duncan Brothers Tire Co., and was previously employed by O.P. Bohman Tire Co. Inc. He was most recently employed by NAPA Auto Parts in Boonsboro.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Sharpsburg.
He also was a member of Sharpsburg Rifles.
He is survived by his wife, Donna A. DeLauney of Sharpsburg; three daughters, Sue Ann Keckler of Williamsport, Jane M. Sankbeil of Sharpsburg, and Amy M. Martin of Smithsburg; two sons, William T. DeLauney Jr. of Shepherdstown, W.Va., and Joseph P. DeLauney of Sharpsburg; one sister, Laura J. Grove of Sharpsburg; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 11 at 6 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 201 E. Main St., Sharpsburg. The Rev. Blaine E. Feightner will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg.
There will be no viewing; however friends and family may call at the home of Donna DeLauney at anytime throughout the week at 301 W. Main St., Sharpsburg.

Helen M. Massie
Helen Marie Massie, 50, of South Walnut Street, Hagerstown, died Thursday, July 1, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 19, 1948, in Washington County, she was the daughter of Harold Near of Hagerstown and the late Meta Blosser Near.
She was an avid bingo player.
In addition to her father, she is survived by three daughters, Doris Staley, Tammy Marie Carter and Montica Ray Massie, all of Hagerstown; two brothers, Jeff Near and David Blosser, both of Hagerstown; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shanique Staley in 1997; and Beatrice Hammer, who raised her.
Services will be Monday at 8 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. David M. Buchenroth will officiate.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
