Gertrude A. Mackrell
Gertrude Anastasia Mackrell, 72, of 369 Antietam Drive, Hagerstown, died Saturday, June 26, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 13, 1926, in Scranton, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John and Gertrude Marion McCormick.
She was a graduate of Scranton State Hospital Cadet Nursing Program in Scranton.
She retired from Washington County Hospital as a pediatric nurse after 17 years of service.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She was past president and treasurer of Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Paul Murray Mackrell Sr.; two daughters, Margaret Hurd and Trudy Mackrell Metz, both of Hagerstown; two sons, Paul Mackrell Jr. of Hagerstown and Francis Mackrell of Ellicott City, Md.; two sisters, Alice Lestansky of Dixon City, Pa., and Genevieve Yazdzik of Olyphant, Pa.; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, John McCormick, Francis McCormick and Michael McCormick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 224 W. Washington St., Hagerstown. Monsignor Robert Passarelli will officate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.

Martha L. Beard
MAUGANSVILLE - Martha Lucille Beard, 82, of Charlotte's Home, Village Mill Avenue, died Friday, June 25, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 17, 1917, in Clear Spring, she was the daughter of the late John Feidt and Lucy May Frush Board.
She was a graduate of Clear Spring High School.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Clear Spring.
She is survived by a son, Jerry A. Beard of Hagerstown; a sister, Mary E. Beard of Williamsport; two granddaughters, Audrey Morton of Columbia, Md. and Stephanie Mankouski of Chambersburg, Pa.; and a grandson, Allen Beard of Baton Rouge, La.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. C. Andrew Carr will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Clear Spring.
Friends may call today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open today after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.

Warren A. Sauble Sr.
GOLDSBORO, Md. - Warren Allen Sauble Sr., 56, of Goldsboro, died Friday, June 25, 1999, at Memorial Hospital of Easton in Easton, Md.
Born Sept. 14, 1942, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Ernest Michael and Elenora Schoff Sauble.
He was employed by Box USA of Baltimore as the shipping supervisor.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Margaret "Peggy" L. Sauble; a daughter, Kimberle Ann Sauble of Goldsboro; two sons, Warren A. Sauble Jr. of Hagerstown and Bryan Lee Sauble of Waldorf, Md.; five sisters, Jane Hepner of Mount Jackson, W.Va., Marie Roberg, Elenora Sauble, Elizabeth Walton and Madeline Meushaw, all of Baltimore; four brothers, Edward Sauble of Hagerstown, James Sauble and Henry Sauble, both of Baltimore and Willard Sauble of Revera Beach, Md.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro, Md. Burial will be in Greensboro Cemetery, Greensboro.
Visitation will be today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Hattie M. Pheil
Hattie Marie Pheil, 102, formerly of 289 Frederick St., Hagerstown, died Saturday, June 26, 1999, at Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Home.
Born July 16, 1896, in Mercersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Abram and Frances Criswell Ensminger.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Pheil.
She was employed by Troy Laundry in Hagerstown.
She was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by a son, Francis Z. Pheil of Hagerstown; a brother, Allen Ensminger of Chambersburg, Pa.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, John A. Pheil; a brother, Ruby Ensminger; and a great-grandchild.
Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing.
Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
Helen V. Wenner
BRUNSWICK, Md. - Helen Virginia Hinckle Wenner, 81, of 9th Avenue, died Friday, June 25, 1999, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.
Born Aug. 20, 1917, in Frederick County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Thomas Franklin and Eva Bohrer Hinckle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ross Lee Wenner, in 1998.
She was a member, former Sunday School teacher and former choir member of New York Hill United Methodist Church in Brunswick.
She is survived by two daughters, Patsy Reed of Falls Church, Va. and Linda Nelson of Brunswick; two sisters, Jeannine Wheeler of Brunswick and Phyllis Lane of Bowie, Md.; a brother, Franklin Hinckle of Leesburg, Va.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Wendell Hinckle.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at New York Hill United Methodist Church in Brunswick. The Rev. Clark Carr will officiate. Burial will be in Park Heights Cemetery, Brunswick.

Helen I. Ward
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. - Helen I. Ward, 92, of Fountain Valley, died Sunday, June 20, 1999, at a nursing home in Garden Grove, Calif.
Born in Chewsville, she was the daughter of Woodward E. and Lizzie Lehman Spessard.
She was a long-time member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Mildred Gall of Fountain Valley; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
Burial was Thursday, June 24, in Westminster Memorial Park, Westminster, Calif.
