ANN T. TAYLOR
Ann T. Taylor, 71, McHenry, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born April 17, 1933, in Wheeling, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Russell R. and Gertrude (Garden) Throp. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John Throp and Raymond Throp; one sister, Caroline Dickson; and one granddaughter, Megan O'Brien.
She was a graduate of West Virginia University, Morgantown, W.Va., with a degree in business, and was a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. She was a co-owner of the Green Acres Garden Center and the Flower Basket, Oakland.
She was a former member of the BPW Club, Oakland, and was an avid bridge player. She and her husband enjoyed traveling the world.
She is survived by her husband, Robert G. Taylor; two daughters, Suzan T. O'Brien, McMurray, Pa., and Deep Creek Lake; and Barbara L. Baker, Swanton; one son, David T. Taylor, Mtn. Lake Park; four grandchildren; and one foster grandchild.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was held on Wednesday, Jan. 12, with the Rev. Fr. John A. Grant officiating.
Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, W.Va.

VIRGINIA T. DAVIS
Virginia T. Davis of Charlottesville, Va., formerly of Mtn. Lake Park, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, in a nearby nursing facility.
Born in Mtn. Lake Park, she was the daughter of the late Flavius Josephus Turney and Grace Fearer Turney. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lee Davis.
Mrs. Davis served for many years as the executive assistant for the dean of continuing education at the University of Virginia.
She is survived by two son, R.W. Davis, Stephens City, Va., and Stephen Davis and his wife Rebecca, Culpeper, Va.; and one grandson, Ryan Davis.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Foss officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

NEVA J. KELLEY
Neva Jeanne (Jeannie) Kelley, 78, Terra Alta, W.Va., died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born Oct. 3, 1926, in Terra Alta, she was a daughter of the late Virginia Benson and Harry H. Hill Sr. She was also preceded in death by one brother, John Hill; and one sister, Jane Tennell.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Terra Alta. She worked at Alpine Lake for 20 years, and was a past member of the Terra Alta Civic Club.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Duane (Flat) Kelley; one son, David B. Kelley, Morgantown; three daughters, Mary V. Straface, Clarksburg, W.Va., Nancy J. Kelley, Terra Alta, and Julie A. Kelley, Oakland; one brother, Jack Hill, Kingwood, W.Va.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta, today, Thursday, Jan. 13, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the First United Methodist Church, Terra Alta, with the Rev. Michael L. Daniels officiating.
Interment will follow in the Terra Alta Cemetery, Terra Alta.

PHYLLIS A. STEMPLE
Phyllis Ann Stemple, 71, Wise, Va., died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at the home of her daughter. She was a former resident of Red House and later of Oakland at Underwood South.
Born March 3, 1933, in Lantz Ridge, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Dwight L. and Nellie Marie Strawser Arnett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Stemple; two brothers, Frank Arnett and Fred Arnett; and two sisters, Alice Proudfoot and Lois Reva Arnett.
She was a retired teacher's aide in the Garrett County schools. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Red House.
Surviving are one son, James Lawton Stemple, Red House; one daughter, Dr. Marie Ann Stemple, Wise; four brothers, James Arnett, Clarksburg, W.Va., Raymond Arnett, Martinsburg, W.Va., Donald Arnett, Amboy, W.Va., and Joseph Arnett, Bernillo, N.M.; and two grandchildren.
A service was held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Red House, on Jan. 4, with the Rev. Bill Connelly and the Rev. Keith Pittsnogle officiating.
Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Sturgill Funeral Home, Wise, was in charge of arrangements.
HAROLD A. METZ
Harold A. "Hoss" Metz, 80, Germantown, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at his residence.
Born June 19, 1924, in Barton, he was the son of the late Thomas and May Metz.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Frankie Metz; four children, Donna Lee Harvey, Kitzmiller, Tarzan Metz, Damascus, Timmie R. Metz, Brunswick, and John A. Metz, Germantown; several sisters and brothers; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at Pumphrey's Colonial Funeral Home, Rockville, where a service was held this morning, Thursday, Jan. 13, with the Rev. Ross Forcey officiating.
A graveside service followed at Dawson Cemetery in Dawson, with the Rev. Samuel Biser officiating.

HENRY M. BROADWATER
Henry Marshall Broadwater, 89, formerly of Avilton, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at the home of his daughter in Vandergrift, Pa.
Born Feb. 21, 1915, in Garrett County, he was a son of the late James A. and Martha C. (Platter) Broadwater. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Thelma (Wilhelm) Broadwater, Aug. 7, 1985; and five brothers, Lee, Russell, Ellis, Alvin, and Ray Broadwater.
He was a farmer and timberman. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are one son, Gerald Broadwater, Lonaconing; two daughters, Mary McGuire, Vandergrift, Pa., and Martha Rosenberger, Finzel; two brothers, Roy Broadwater, Avilton, and Charles Broadwater, Reedsville, W.Va.; three sisters, Eva Lewis and Arvella Wilson, both of Frostburg, and Laura Broadwater, Cresaptown; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, today, Thursday, Jan. 13, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Carroll Junkins officiating.
Interment will be in Blocher Cemetery.
Lafayette J. McGuire
Former Dundalk resident Lafayette J. McGuire died of cardiac arrest at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center on Nov. 25 [2004], one day before his 69th birthday.
Mr. McGuire moved to Dundalk from Baltimore City when he was a child and later attended Sparrows Point High School. He served several years with the U.S. Army tank division. He also worked for over 30 years at Bethlehem Steel and held a foreman position there.
In the years before his death, he resided at the Oak Crest retirement community in Parkville.
A lover of the outdoors, Mr. McGuire enjoyed swimming, skiing, and boating. He also loved to drive.
Surviving are his daughter, Kelly A. Hudson, sisters Karen R. Frazier, Sarah L. Legere and Mary E. Shipley, brother David J. McGuire and one grandson. A brother, Paul J. McGuire, predeceased him.
The Rev. Ed Spuler of Heritage Community Church in Glen Burnie conducted services on Dec. 1 at the Oak Crest Chapel. Interment followed at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
Patricia A. Sadler
Former Jaydee Avenue resident Patricia A. Sadler (nee Merchant) died of cancer Nov. 6 [2004] at age 53.
After moving from Baltimore City to the Dundalk area, Ms. Sadler attended Dundalk Elementary, Dundalk Middle and Dundalk High schools. Later in her life, she worked as a computer operator for the State Employees Credit Union.
Ms. Sadler is survived by mother and stepfather Nettie and Steve Jones of Dundalk and brothers Bill Merchant of Delaware, Ronald Merchant of Baltimore and Terry Merchant of White Hall, Md. She was predeceased by her father, Roscoe Merchant.
Services were held Nov. 9 at Bradley-Ashton-Matthews Funeral Home. Interment followed at Gardens of Faith Cemetery.
