James E. Ginevan
James E. Ginevan, 69, of 10711 Crystal Falls Drive, Hagerstown, died Sunday, June 13, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 30, 1930, in Oldtown, Md., he was the son of the late Elwood and Eva Pearl Shrout Ginevan.
He was employed by Boeing Aircraft for 30 years, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of South Mountain Rod and Gun Club in Smithsburg, Fraternal Order of Eagles 694 and Elks Lodge 378, both in Hagerstown, Loyal Order of Moose 1191 in Waynesboro, Pa., and a former member of Cascade American Legion Post 239.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Wilma L. Pollock Ginevan; two daughters, Cheryl Augusts of New Castle, Del., and Julie Cox of Wilmington, Del.; two sons, Warren Ginevan of New Castle, and Wayne Ginevan of Newark; six sisters, Deloris Wagner of Oldtown, Ellen Davis of Churchville, Md., Beverly Harkum of Pasadena, Md., Doris Miller of Barton, Md., Patsy Edwards of Hampton, Va., and Linda Cross of Slainesville, W.Va.; two brothers, Randy Ginevan and Mouse Ginevan, both of Oldtown; three grandsons; four granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing.
The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Richard T. Burger
WILLIAMSPORT - Richard Thomas Burger, 73, of 1 N. Artizan St., died Sunday, June 13, 1999, at Homewood Retirement Center, Williamsport.
Born Oct. 18, 1925, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late William Augustus Burger and Hilda Lucille Randall Burger Duvall.
He was employed by Bell Atlantic for 32 years, retiring in 1984. He was previously employed by Western Maryland Railway.
He was a member of Williamsport Town Council from 1965-1969 and 1981-1983.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater and in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He received the 1998 Community Service Award from Williamsport mayor and Council.
He was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church.
He was a member of Potomac Fish and Game Club, Potomac Post 202 American Legion, both of Williamsport; Hagerstown Lodge 378 BPO Elks, Happy Face Travel Club, Pen-Mar Dance Club, 9&90 Dance Club, Western Maryland Railway Old Timers Club, and Western Maryland Railway Historical Society. He was on the Williamsport Memorial Library Board.
He was Scoutmaster of Downsville Christian Church Boy Scouts of American Troop, and assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 17 in Williamsport.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy E. Lizer Burger; three daughters, Karen E. Beckwith of Canterbury, Conn., Anne L. Plotner of Williamsport and Dorothy L. Kozura of Pottsville, Pa.; one brother, William A. Burger of Hagerstown; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and a nephew.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. James E. Swecker will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport, with military services by Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion.
Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open after 9 a.m.

Claude F. Palmer
BOONSBORO - Claude Franklin Palmer, 84, of 7903 Mapleville Road, Boonsboro, died Sunday, June 13, 1999, at his home.
Born June 5, 1915, in Bolivar, W.Va., he was the son of the late G. Blaine and Beulah Mae Beachley Palmer.
He was employed for 32 years at Poffenberger Tire Co., Hagerstown. He retired in 1978 from the Maryland State Police barracks in Hagerstown.
He was a member of Mount Nebo United Methodist Church, Boonsboro, and a former member of the church orchestra.
He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police.
He is survived by his wife, Glendora Virginia Cunningham Palmer, whom he married
in 1937; one son, Wayne L. Palmer of Baltimore; three grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Palmer.
Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. John W. Zsittnik will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Francis S. McKay
Francis Seaton McKay, 71, of 20512 Jefferson Blvd., Hagerstown, died Sunday, June 13, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 27, 1927, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late William Gordon and Jean R. Seaton McKay.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Whitelegg McKay, whom he married
in 1952.
He was a 1945 graduate of Hagerstown High School. He graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor's degree in agriculture in 1952.
He was employed as manager of Potomac Creamery and was later self-employed.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and received the Victory Medal, Army of Occupied Japan.
He is survived by three sons, James Seaton McKay of Willow Grove, Pa., John Richard McKay of Waynesboro, Pa., and Douglas McKay of Hagerstown; one sister, Mary Kathryn Campbell of Pen Mar; and three grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesdasy at 2 p.m. at Rest Haven Chapel, Hagerstown. The Rev. Bob Revelle will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at Rest Haven Chapel at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Mary M. Bear
SUN CITY WEST, Ariz. - Mary M. Bear, formerly of Hagerstown, died Sunday, June 12, 1999, of emphysema at Del Webb Hospital, Sun City West.
She was the daughter of the late James W. and Carrie Shaw Messersmith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James G. Bear Jr.
She is survived by two daughters, Christina Thurber of Springfield, Va., and Tamera Chaky of Waddell, Ariz.; one son, Steven Tetrick of Mansfield, Ohio; one granddaughter, one grandson, two sisters, Luella E. Washabaugh of Pittsburgh and Virginia M. Strine of Hagerstown.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Col. Joshua R. Messersmith, James F. Messersmith and Howard E. Messersmith.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 26 at 11:30 p.m. at James Messersmith gravesite in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
