Franklin D. Powell
Franklin Delano Roosevelt Powell, 65, of 11 W. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, died Sunday, May 30, 1999, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Nov. 21, 1933, in Sharpsburg, he was the son of the late Albert David and Minnie Emma Knight Powell.
He was previously employed with Western Maryland Railroad, with Baer Foods as a truck driver and with Hiram Wantz Distributors.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of First Christian Church.
He was a member of Moose Lodge International and American Legion, Funkstown Post 211.
He is survived by one daughter, Frances L. Harris of Valrico, Fla.; two sisters, Anna L. Reece of Smithsburg and Betty M. Alt of Flintstone, Md.; one brother, Albert D. Powell Jr. of Hagerstown; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Irma D. Grove and one brother, Bruce A. Powell.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert D. Swank Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.
Terry S. Deener
KEEDYSVILLE - Terry S. "Steve" Deener, 52, of 6423 Coffman Farms Road, Keedysville, died Saturday, May 29, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 28, 1946, in Sandy Hook, he was the son of Ella Marie Deener Miskell of Sparta, Tenn. and the late Arthur L. Deener.
He was employed with Shirley Construction Co. in Virginia as a crane operator.
He served with the Army during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of Clopper-Michael Post 10 American Legion in Boonsboro.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, DiAnna K. Barger Deener, whom he married
in 1967; one son, Timothy S. Deener of Hagerstown; and one brother, Gary W. Deener of Sandy Hook.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Carpenter and Joan Ashbaugh.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Joseph Burdette will officiate. Burial will be in Brownsville Heights cemetery with military honors provided by Morris-Frock Post 42 American Legion, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Tina L. Ratliff
SMITHSBURG - Tina LaRue Naundorf Ratliff, 50, of Bryon Drive, Smithsburg, died Saturday, May 29, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 2, 1948, in Frederick, Md., she was the daughter of Grace Soper Sellman of Tucson, Ariz., and the late Charles L. Soper.
She was a graduate of Walkersville High School.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Smithsburg.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Jerry Ratliff; one daughter, Stephaine Naundorf at home; one son, Timothy Ratliff at home; two stepsons, Casey Ratliff of Pensacola, Fla., and Mark Ratliff of Flagstaff, Ariz.; one sister, Linda Campbell of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.; one granddaughter; her stepfather, Lowell Sellman, and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Jeffery Naundorf, and one brother, Alan Soper.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 16 North Main St., Smithsburg. The Rev. Mark Walters will officiate. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave., Smithsburg.

Sara M. Bock
Sara M. Bock, 83, of 808 The Terrace, Hagerstown, and formerly of Sarasota, Fla., died Saturday, May 29, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 20, 1916, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Bruce E. and Nora Borne Martin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elred M. "Joe" Bock, who died in 1984.
She was a member of St. Rita's Catholic Church in Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.
She was a member of Women's Auxiliary Waynesboro Hospital, Women's Auxiliary Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Waynesboro Country Club, and Fort Ritchie Officers Wives Club.
She is survived by one daughter, Stephanie Bock of Hagerstown, two sons, Frank Bock of Greencastle, Pa., and Joseph Bock of Blue Ridge Summit; one sister, Mary Catherine Marker of Hagerstown; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Edwin Bock, Bruce Bock, Sydney Bock and John Martin Bock.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Jack Fullen will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
There will be no viewing.
The funeral home will be open today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. for the convenience of friends.

Celia A. Fuchsman
WILLIAMSPORT - Celia Ann Fuchsman, 80, of Homewood Retirement Center, 16505 Virginia Ave., died Monday, May 31, 1999, at the nursing home.
Born Aug. 13, 1918, in Harrisonburg, Va., she was the daughter of the late Morris and Sadye Miller Spiro.
She was a graduate of James Madison University and attended the University of West Virginia.
She retired from Shepherd College in admissions. She was previously employed in the Applied Physics Lab at Johns Hopkins University, with the Engineering Research Association in Alexandria, Va., and as a high school teacher in Dayton, Va.
She was a member of Molers Homemaker's Club in Shepherdstown, W.Va., and A.A.R.P.
She is survived by her husband, Milton Fuchsman.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at King David Memorial cemetery in Falls Church, Va. Rabbi David Kalnder will officiate.
There will be no viewing.

Lynn E. Spielman
Lynn Elwood Spielman, 63, of 11530 Dellwyn Drive, Hagerstown, died Saturday, May 29, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 25, 1935, in Funkstown, he was the son of the late Aden Philip and Ruth Everly Spielman.
He was an employee of Mid States News Distributors in Chambersburg, Pa., retiring in 1998 after 40 years of service.
He was a member of Church of the Holy Trinity in Hagerstown.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marlene G. Spielman; a daughter, Cindy L. Weyant Lewis of Hagerstown; a son, Michael Lynn Spielman of Ambler, Pa.; two sisters, Madeline McNamee and Rebeccah Sweeney, both of Hagerstown; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Adena Gisinger.
Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
