James J. Ahalt
James J. "Buddy" Ahalt, 74, of 11 S. Walnut St., Hagerstown, died Thursday, May 27, 1999, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center near Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born June 25, 1924, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late John H. and Florence E. Daymude Ahalt.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Lou Ahalt, in 1968.
He was employed with Fairchild Aircraft until his retirement.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his second wife, Margaret Louise Cox Ahalt; two daughters, Linda Ahalt and Charlotte Ahalt, both of Hagerstown; two sons, Jimmy Ahalt and Terry Lidie, both of Hagerstown; three sisters, Flo E. Stottlemyer of Hagerstown, Katharine J. Miller of Seattle and Phyllis Noland of Salisbury, Md.; three brothers, Conard E. Ahalt, William G. Ahalt and Jack P. Ahalt, all of Hagerstown; a half sister, Gladys Barr of Hagerstown; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Carl Black will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be conducted by American Legion, Morris Frock Post No. 42.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Clarence H. Teach
Clarence Hubert "Pete" Teach, 84, of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, May 26, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Feb. 21, 1916, in Pinesburg, he was the son of the late Jacob Wesley and Emma Jane Smith Teach.
He retired in 1978 from the H.L. Mills Service Station. He previously worked at Cushwa Brick Yard and North American Cement Corp. in Hagerstown.
He was a member of Trinity Bible Church, Hagerstown.
He is survived by three daughters, Ruby Monniger and Wanda Whipp, both of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Joyce Scally of Bedington, W.Va.; companion Dorothy Reel of Hagerstown; eight grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Revs. Betty Jones and Robert V. Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Williamsport.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open after 9 a.m.
Gary R. Morganthal Sr.
ST. CLOUD, Fla. - Gary R. Morganthal Sr., 45, of 5050 Apollo Ave., and formerly of Mont Alto, Pa., died Wednesday, May 26, 1999, at Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne, Fla., from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born Sept. 21, 1953, in Boston, he was the son of Hazel Ricker Morganthal Young of Greencastle, Pa., and the late Andrew David Morganthal. He was the stepson of Earl Young of Greencastle.
He was employed at Manheim Central Florida Auto Auction.
He was a member of Central Baptist Church of Mont Alto.
In addition to his mother and stepfather, he is survived by his wife, Patty J. Johnson Morganthal, whom he married
Feb. 27, 1989; three sons, Gary Morganthal Jr. of Greencastle, and David R. Morganthal and Michael A. Morganthal, both at home; two stepchildren, Thomas E. Smetzer and John D. Smetzer, both of Waynesboro, Pa.; a sister, Suzanne Jean Morganthal of Zullinger, Pa.; two brothers, David Eugene Morganthal of Naples, Fla., and Kevin J. Morganthal of Willow Springs, N.C.; a step granddaughter; a step grandmother; aunts; uncles; and a great-aunt.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. David Rawley will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Quincy, Pa.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Gertrude T. Freas
BRICK, N.J. - Gertrude T. Freas, 75, of Baywood Boulevard, died Tuesday, May 25, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born May 6, 1924, in Bayonne, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Caroline Preiss Freas.
She is survived by four daughters, Carol Partenfelder and Judy Wrublevski, both of Brick, Gail McLester of Hagerstown and Kathrine Winslow of Martinsburg; a sister, Elizabeth England; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Saturday at Glenwood cemetery in West Long Branch, N.J.
Arrangements are by Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg.
Helen V. Snyder
THURMONT, Md. - Helen Virginia Snyder, 79, of 12 Sunny Court, died Wednesday, May 26, 1999, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 1, 1919, in Frederick County, Md., she was the daughter of the late John W. and Mary M. Shank Fulmer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Snyder Jr.
She had worked at Maryland School for the Deaf; and she and her husband owned and operated Cozy Corner on South Market Street.
She had attended St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Feagaville, Md.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda S. Forrest of Thurmont; a son, David L. Lewis of Frederick, Md.; two sisters, Viola Golden of Hancock and Annabelle Cannon of Frederick; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Fulmer and Naomi Fulmer; and a brother, William Fulmer.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. The Rev. John F. Bromhal will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
The family will receive friends today from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ethan J. Hege
MIDDLEBURG, Md. - Ethan Jay Hege, 13, of 467 Johnsville Road, near Middleburg, died Thursday, May 27, 1999, at his home. He was born with a chromosomal disorder.
Born March 5, 1986, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of Marlin and Martha Stickley Hege.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by maternal grandparents, George and Mary Stickley of Flintstone, Md.; five sisters, Charity Mohler of Wyoming, N.Y., Wanda Eikenberry of Dayton, Ohio, Wilma Green of near Middleburg, Miriam Martin of Shippensburg, Pa., and Joyce Brumbaugh of Palestine, Ohio; three brothers, David Hege of Bernville, Pa., Jonathan Hege and Benjamin Hege, both of near Middleburg; two nieces and three nephews.
Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Beaver Dam Old German Baptist Church, near Union Bridge, Md. Elders Fred Garber, Willis Hess and Richard Hess will officiate. Burial will be in Beaver Dam Cemetery.

Margaret H. Troncatti
Margaret H. "Peg" Troncatti, 71, of 11135 Nursery Road, Hagerstown, died Sunday, May 23, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 5, 1928, in Monongahela, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine McVicker Hethfrington.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Richard V. Troncatti; one daughter, Ranota Koontz of Funkstown; one son, Richard H. Troncatti of Hagerstown; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Kathryn E. Shank
Kathryn Eloise Shank, 84, of 843 Mulberry Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, May 24, 1999, at Ravenwood Nursing Home.
Born Sept. 11, 1914, in Samples Manor, Md., she was the daughter of the late Walter Thomas and Naomi Ruth Nichols Winks.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Winger Shank.
She was a 1932 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
She had been employed with Venice Inn Motel and Hagerstown Shoe Company.
She was a member of First Christian Church.
She was a member of American Legion, Morris Frock Post 42 Auxiliary and A.A.R.P.
She is survived by one cousin, Alice Hoffmaster of Boonsboro.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Fred M. Harris will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
