William B. Warfield Jr.

KNOXVILLE, Md. - William Bradley "Brad" Warfield Jr., 30, of 2163 Reed Road, died Friday, May 7, 1999, at his home.

Born Jan. 24, 1969, in Olney, Md., he was the son of William B. and Virginia Compton Warfield Sr. of Clarksburg, Md.

He was employed by Enterprise Wood Craft and Design in Silver Spring, Md.

He was a member of Chestnut Grove Bible Church.

He was a member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local No. 1694, Washington, D.C.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, JoAnn E. Hagan Warfield; three daughters, Ashley Nicole Warfield, Kayla Marie Warfield and Krystal'lyn Eusebia "CB" Warfield, all at home; three sisters, Tammy A. Warfield of Winfield, Md., Joan E. Glass of Westminster, Md., and Hope E. Jackson of Mount Airy, Md.; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Chestnut Grove Bible Church, 3636 Chestnut Grove Road, Keedysville. The Rev. Bruce Gephart will officiate. Burial will be in Brownsville Heights Cemetery, Brownsville, Md.

The family will receive friends Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.

Memorial donations may be made to Hope Lodge of the American Cancer Society, 636 W. Lexington St., Baltimore, MD 21201.

Robert W. Barnhart II

Robert William Barnhart II, 55, of 1119 Carroll Heights Blvd., Hagerstown, died Friday, May 7, 1999, at his home.

Born Oct. 16, 1943, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of Merle Barnhart of Panama City, Fla., and the late Geraldine Wolfensberger Doub.

He was a 1961 graduate of Waynesboro Area High School; and completed courses at the University of Maryland.

In his youth, he helped with the family business at Cold Springs Park, Waynesboro, Pa. In 1986, he opened his own business, Associated Environmental Services. He worked as a project coordinator for Fairchild Republic; was previously employed with Plummer Construction; in 1970, he worked as an inspector for the State Highway Administration; in the 1960s he was employed with Wolfe Brothers Contractors; and he also was previously employed with Potomac Edison Engineering crew.

He was active in Federal Little League, Boy Scouts and local PTA associations. He served on the board of directors of the Community Action Council, the Miss Maryland Scholarship Foundation and Hagerstown Jaycees. He was selected as a Jaycee International Senator (JCI), and chosen as Washington County's Young Marylander 1979. He served as chairman of the City of Hagerstown, Keep America Beautiful for the Boy Scouts. He was a member of the Republican Central Committee and City of Hagerstown Board of Election Supervisors. He was elected to serve two four-year terms as president and vice president of the Washington County Board of Education. He served as chairman and vice chairman of the Solid Waste Advisory Board of Washington County. He was a member of Sons of the American Legion, Morris Frock Post No. 42; National Rifle Association; and area chairman and zone chairman for Duck's Unlimited for the State of Maryland. He was presented the David P. Miller Sportsman's Award in 1996 by Ducks Unlimited. He remained very active in the Potomac Fish and Game Club in Williamsport and loved hunting, fishing and boating.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jolene Garver Barnhart; two sons, Robert W. Barnhart III of Williamsport and Todd Michael Barnhart of Greencastle, Pa.; two brothers, John L. Doub of Waynesboro, Pa., and Lewis Doub of Lancaster, Pa.; stepmother, Lorraine Barnhart of Panama City; stepfather, Paul Doub of Waynesboro; a half sister, Dawn Peffer of Tallahassee, Fla.; a stepbrother, Roger Dale Williams of Hagerstown; a granddaughter; nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be Friday, May 14, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Potomac Fish and Game Club. The Rev. Daniel Jordan and the Rev. Alan Clingan will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

There will be no viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Potomac Fish and Game Club, 14241 Falling Waters Road, Williamsport, MD 21740.

Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

Robert H. Naylor

SMITHSBURG - Robert H. Naylor, 75, of S. Main St., died Friday, May 7, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.

Born May 19, 1923, in Smithsburg, he was the son of the late Clyde S. and Mary Evelyn Hollingsworth Naylor.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eloise P. Ferguson Naylor, in 1993.

He was employed by Fairchild Aircraft, Hagerstown for 44 years.

He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Cascade American Legion Post No. 239; and Eagles Club Inc. in Waynesboro, Pa.

He is survived by his second wife, Pearl V. Brown Myers Naylor; three stepdaughters, Marcia L. Pike and Linda K. McKeever, both of Smithsburg and Cindy P. Wolfensberger of Clear Spring; two stepsons, Kenny Myers of Hagerstown and John Myers of Williamsport; a brother, F. Samuel Naylor of Smithsburg; 12 step grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a stepson, Rodney Smith; and a step granddaughter, Dena L. Clopper.

Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Smithsburg Cemetery. Pastor Pat Malone will officiate.

There will be no viewing.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Memorial donations may be made to Smithsburg Emergency Medical Service, P.O. Box 411, Smithsburg, MD 21783.

Mary A. Schmitt

Mary Agnes Schmitt, 86, of 11400 Stonecroft Court, Apartment 313, Hagerstown, died Thursday, May 6, 1999, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.

Born July 5, 1912, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Helen Marie Donohue Rivoirie.

Her husband, Vincent DePaul Schmitt, died in 1977.

She attended Hagerstown Community College.

She was formerly employed by Servpro of Washington County in Hagerstown.

She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church.

She volunteered at Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers of Washington County, Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, and Colton Villa Nursing Home.

She is survived by one daughter, Joanna Matthews of Hagerstown; one sister, Doris Kelly of Shelter Island, N.Y.; three granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Henry Rivoirie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 1 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1525 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Edward Manalis as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Augustine cemetery in Bridgeport, Pa., Tuesday, at 12:30 p.m.

The family will receive friends at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Ruth A. Niswander

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Ruth Anna Niswander, 91, of Westminster, died Thursday, May 6, 1999, at Carroll Lutheran Village Healthcare Center.

Born Oct. 18, 1907, in Westminster, she was the daughter of the late Frank Harry and Amanda Elizabeth Myers Garner.

Her husband, Paul R. Niswander, died in 1997.

She attended Westminster High School, and graduated from Elizabethtown College Academy in 1925.

She taught elementary school at Elmer Wolfe School in Union Bridge.

She was a former member of Union Bridge Church of the Brethren, where she was a deacon, directed the church choir, and played piano and organ. She was a member of Westminster Church of the Brethren.

She is survived by one daughter, Doris N. Albaugh of Westminster; three granddaughters; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Garner; and one sister, Mary Alice Garner.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Westminster Church of the Brethren, Park and Bond Street, Westminster. The Rev. Scott L. Duffey will officiate. Private graveside services will be held Saturday at Meadow Branch Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Bridgewater College, Bridgewater, VA 22812.

Arrangements are by Myers Funeral Home in Westminster.

Kendra A. Boyd

MAUGANSVILLE - Kendra Ann Boyd, infant daughter of Laura Ann Smith, died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Paul David and Willyette Ann Boyd of Maugansville; maternal great-grandmother, Esther E. Boyd of Maugansville; and an uncle, John Phillip Boyd II of Maugansville.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, John Phillip Boyd I; and a brother, Lee Harold Smith Jr.

Burial was held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements were by Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.
