BRITTANY M. PATON
WESTERNPORT - Brittany Marie Paton, 15, of 25722 Paton St., Westernport, and 24116 Kyle Hill Road, Barton, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, as the result of injuries from a car accident.
Born on Aug. 12, 1985, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of Hugh "Fred" Paton, Westernport, and Jean (Preston) Paton, Barton.
Brittany was a 10th grade student at Westmar High School. She loved animals dearly.
Surviving in addition to her parents are a sister, Carrie, Westernport; a brother, Derek, at home; maternal grandparents, Ervin and Helen Preston, Barton; paternal grandparents, Hugh and Mary Paton, Westernport; paternal great-grandfather, James Winkler, Cresaptown; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She is also survived by a very special friend, Adam Dyer.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Bethel Holiness Church, Lonaconing, on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George Loar officiating.
Interment will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
Pallbearers will be her cousins, Ryan Fazenbaker, Joshua Fazenbaker, Matthew Wiltison, Eric Preston and Jesse Preston.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Allegany County Animal Shelter.
Brittany was a very special young lady who will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends. We love you, Brittany.
EDDIE L. ROGERS
BLOOMINGTON - Eddie Lee Rogers, Jr., 15, of 49 Savage River Road, Bloomington, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, at his residence.
Born February 1984, in Oakland, he was the son of Eddie Lee Rogers, Sr., of Petersburg, W.Va., and Libby Holstein and Eugene Liller, of Bloomington.
Eddie was a freshman at Westmar High School, where he was a member of the J.V. Basketball squad.
In addition to his parents, and step-father, he is survived by two sisters, Brandy Holstein and Amanda Holstein, both of Bloomington; grandparents, Gloria and Gene Holstein, of Mt. Storm, W.Va., and Pat Parker, of Ohio; and numerous cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, W.Va., on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Donald Nelson and the Rev. Joseph Jarrett, officiating.
Interment will be in the Bloomington Cemetery.

WILLIAM P. "SKEETS" MERRITT
LAVALE -- William P. "Skeets" Merritt, 74, of 15 N. Woodlawn Ave., LaVale, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at his home.
Born July 27, 1927, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Arthur Lee Merritt and Caroline (Miller) Merritt.
Mr. Merritt was a retired conductor for the Chessie Railroad. He was a member of the LaVale United Methodist Church and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Charlynne F. (Redlich) Merritt, LaVale; a son, Richard "Rick" W. Merritt, Cumberland; a sister, Margurite Dennison, Hopewell, Va.; and a grandson, Shane William Merritt, Lake Tahoe, Nev.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Lee Brotemarkle officiating.
Interment will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
MARIE AULT
SHORT GAP, W.Va. -- Marie Ault, 91, of Short Gap, died Tuesday at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Sept. 13, 1909, in Dorcas, she was the daughter of the late Noah M. and Flora (Stump) Ours.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Blaine Ault, and seven brothers and eight sisters.
Mrs. Ault had worked for the Celanese Corporation in the Downtwist Department. She had been a cook for over 40 years at Barton's Restaurant.
Survivors include her daughter, Nora V. Ault, with whom she resided; one son, Gene Ault and wife Susan, Sykesville, Md.; five grandchildren, Debbie Flannary and husband Dave, Berkeley Springs, Carol Dietz and husband Dan, Germantown, Md., Pamela Long and husband Ronald, Middletown, Md., Kimberly Ault, Sykesville, James Ault and wife Lisa, Martinsburg; six great-grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Paul E. Deitz officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
LISA M. WADE
SWANTON - Lisa Michelle Wade, 15, of 18461 Maryland Highway, Swanton, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, after being hit by a vehicle near her residence.
Born on April 22, 1985, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of Daniel Wade and Lois (Broadwater) Wade. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Kenneth Wade; and a very special friend, Eddie Rogers, earlier this year.
Lisa was a sophomore at Westmar High School, where she was a member of the Girls Varsity Soccer team and the Cross Country team. She was also involved in the George's Creek Soccer Club. She graduated from eighth grade at Bloomington School, where she served at Student Council President. The family are members of the Bloomington Charge United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to her parents are three sisters, Deanna Wade, Keyser, W.Va., Erica Wade and Andrea Wade, both at home; one niece, Alyvea Fields, Keyser; maternal grandparents, Delbert "Pete" Broadwater and Norma (McKenzie) Broadwater, Westernport; paternal grandmother, Irene (Wade) Saville, Keyser; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and many close friends, whom she held dear to her heart.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home in Westernport on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Piedmont on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Interment will be in the Bloomington Cemetery.

CUMBERLAND -- Vera Lois Mease, 76, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born May 28, 1926 in Lynchburg, Va., she was the daughter of the late Earl and Ila (Quesenberry) Padgett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leo H. Mease on July 18, 1988; and two sisters. Mrs. Mease was a homemaker. She was a member of Emmanuel Bethel United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women’s Circle and was a Sunday School Teacher for the Mitzpah Class. She was also a member of the Happy Valley Homemakers. Surviving are one daughter, Cynthia J. Price and husband John, Cumberland; three sons, Ronald L. Mease, Dale E. Mease and wife Shirley, and Garry C. Mease and wife Janet, all of Cumberland; one brother, Richard G. Padgett, Md.; six grandchildren, Darren Price, Rodney Mease, Mindy Lesniowski, Summer Mease, Hanna Mease, and Karry Mease; three great-grandchildren, Haylee Price, Alyndsia and McKenzie; two nieces, Marie Young and Susie Weaver; one great-niece, Karen Hajos; and one great-nephew, Eric Hajos.

SHORT GAP, W.Va. - Virginia Ellen Armentrout, 64, of Short Gap, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, July 31,2002, at her residence.
Born July 2, 1938, in Rawlings, she was the daughter of the late Roman and Flora (Ketterman) Mills. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Annabelle Evans and Mary "Kitty" Parrish.
Mrs. Armentrout was a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Danville Community Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are her husband, Marshall G. Armentrout Sr.; two daughters, Sue E. Hunt, Morgantown, Diana L. Martin and husband Danny, Wiley Ford; one son, Marshall G. Armentrout Jr. and wife Barbara, Short Gap; four sisters, Carrie Miller, Buffalo Mills, Pa., Carol Lamp and husband ER, Cumberland, Joyce Haines and husband Joe, Keyser, and Cindy Muir and husband Pat, Rawlings; one brother, Edward Mills and wife Jean, Rawlings, Md.; five grandchildren, Aimie Hunt, Morgantown, Shayne Armentrout, a Marine, Camp Pendelton, Calif., Eric "Bo" Hunt, Morgantown, Joshua G. Armentrout, Short Gap, Virginia Martin, Wiley Ford; and many family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

ALAN W. FERGUSON
BEDFORD, Pa. - Alan Wesley Ferguson, 41, of 3667 Business Route 220, Bedford, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at his residence.
Born June 11, 1961, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of Virginia B. (Hardinger) Ferguson, Cumberland, and the late Ralph Eugene “Jeep” Ferguson.
Mr. Ferguson was the President of the Moon Glo II Roller Arena Corporation in Bedford, a member of the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbetos Workers Local 2 in Pittsburgh. He was the coach of the Bedford Bandits Roller Hockey Team of which his three children were participants to help bring home the trophy for the Regional Championship.
Besides his mother, he is survived by two sons, Ryan W. Ferguson and Clayton James “C.J.” Ferguson; a daughter, Erin R. Ferguson, all of Centreville; a special friend, Karen Jackson, Breezewood; two brothers, James Patrick Ferguson, Cumberland, and Ralph E. Ferguson II, Cumberland; two sisters, Debra A. Karns and husband Edward, Bedford, and Sherrie L. Martin and husband Richard, Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.

SHIRLEY L. YOUNGBLOOD
CUMBERLAND - Shirley Lee Youngblood, 50, of 12109 Shadoe Hollow Rd., Cumberland, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at Memorial Hospital.
Born June 19, 1952, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Ruby (Vincie) Beachcamp, Baltimore, and the late Albert Beachcamp.
Mrs. Youngblood attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, and was a substitute teacher for the Public Schools in the area.
Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband, William Leroy Youngblood, Cumberland; a son, Christopher Eric Youngblood; four step children, Mechele L. Donahue and husband Ray, and their two children, Steven and Jesse, Cumberland, Edna Mathis and husband Bill, Jackson, Ga., Sonny Youngblood and wife Karen, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Betty Winkler, Pasadena; one brother, Albert Beachcamp, Moorefield, W.Va.; and numerous step grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

NELLIE D. WILLETTS
CUMBERLAND - Nellie D. Willetts, 85, of The Chateau of Cumberland, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born June 29, 1917, in Pittsburgh, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Dan Davis and Edith Davis Fitzsimmons. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank N. Willetts; and one daughter, Ellen Jewel Willetts.
She, along with her husband, owned and operated Willett’s Drug Company, in LaVale, from 1956-1980. She was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church, Midlothian, and was also active in the Pitcairn Assembly of God Church, Pitcairn, Pa.
Surviving are one daughter, Dana Giovine, Venice Beach, Calif.; one son, Frank N. “Bud” Willetts and wife Stephanie, LaVale; seven grandchildren, Luigi Frank Giovine, Washington D.C., Frank Jason Willetts and wife Danielle, Sharpsburg, Ellen Jewel Giovine, Venice Beach, Alison Michelle Willetts, Laurel, Adam Maurer Willetts, Laurel, Nathan Daniel Willetts, Cumberland, and Sarah Joelle Willetts, LaVale; three great-grandchildren, Frank Carter Willetts, Cooper Wade Willetts, and Hannah Grace Willetts, all of Sharpsburg; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

ALFRED P. ZAIS
MOUNT AIRY - Alfred Patrick Zais, 93, of Mount Airy, formerly of Beall Street, Cumberland, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at the Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Walkersville.
Born Aug. 15, 1908, in Westernport, he was the son of the late John F.S. and Susan May (Patrick) Zais. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Emma Elizabeth (Hanning) Zais; one son, Alfred Frederick Zais; six brothers, John Zais, Harry Zais, William Carl Zais, Howard Zais, Ralph Zais, and Louis Zais; five sisters, Eleanora Kight, Bessie Shaw, Dorothea Jones, Cora Hardin, and Ida Belle Braze.
Mr. Zais was retired with 37 years service from the Celanese Corporation, where he had been an engineering foreman.
Survivors include his daughter, Anna Louise True and husband Roy, Mount Airy; two sisters, Marjorie Carscaden, Cumberland, and Martha Seibert, Virginia; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Saturday from noon until 1 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Stephen F. Yelovich officiating.

DELORES J. FERGUSON
CUMBERLAND - Delores Jean "D.J." (Bair) Ferguson, 69, of Cumberland, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at Memorial Hospital.
Born July 29, 1933, in Shade Gap, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Marian (Wykoff) Bair.
Mrs. Ferguson was a homemaker. She was enlisted and advanced to lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 until 1953. She performed clerical duties while in the service. She attended the San Diego Community College and the University of California in La-Jolla.
Ms. Ferguson participated in the Archway Station program, and was well liked and admired for her unique sense of humor, outlook on life and her accomplishments. She will be remembered and missed by staff and friends at Archway and in the community.
Surviving are one son, Valentine Shoop, Fort Louden, Pa.; two sisters, Linda K. (Bair) Poole, Warfordsburg, Pa.; Barbara Ann Parks, Shade Gap, Pa., a brother, Randy Bair, Maddensville, Pa. and one grandson. Also surviving are several other family members.

OAKLAND - Earl E. Hauser, 93, of Oakland, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
He was born March 28, 1909, in Horse Shoe Run, W.Va., he was the son of the late George Hauser and Florence (Winters) Hauser.
Mr. Hauser was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Red House, the Farmer’s Wildlife Club, and the Woodmen of the World.
He is survived his wife, Elva Merle (Slabaugh) Hauser; one son, Robert K. Hauser, Washington, Pa.; one daughter, Naomi R. Amos, Wellsburg, W.Va.; one brother, Kenneth Hauser, Willowick, Ohio; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home in Oakland, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Red House, Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor William Connelly officiating. Friends may call at the church one half hour prior to services.
Interment will be in the St. John’s Cemetery.
