Olive G. Stull
MYERSVILLE, Md. - Olive Grace Stull, 95, of Myersville, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 24, 1903, in Greencastle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William Andrew Carl and Mary Ida Myers Black.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Eli Stull, in 1947.
She worked at Leonida Hollywood Grill in Hutchison, Kan.; and later at Ben's Truck Stop in Thurmont, Md.
She is survived by two daughters, Ruth Irene Jones of Partridge, Kan., and Betty Jane Rippeon of New Market, Md.; one son, Roger Paul Stull of Myersville; one brother, Kenneth Black of Hutchison; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Minnie Rippeon; four sisters, Catherine Murry, Mae Metz, Pearl Whinery and Anna Landrum; three brothers, Ermie Black, Elmer Black and Wilmer Black; and one grandson.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, Md. The Rev. David W. Simpson will officiate. Burial will be in Lewistown Cemetery, Lewistown, Md.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
John W. VanHolten
KNOXVILLE, Md. - John William VanHolten, 79, of 3820 Olive School Road, died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at Frederick (Md.) Health Care Center.
Born May 16, 1919, in North Branch, N.J., he was the son of the late John W. and Edith Roland VanHolten.
He was a retired farmer.
He was a charter member of Petersville Ruritan Club, Petersville, Md.
He is survived by two daughters, Valerie VanHolten of Knoxville and Nancy Pierce of Tupelo, Miss.; four sons, John W. VanHolten III of Carmichael, Pa., Theodore VanHolten of Barhamsville, Va., Eric VanHolten of Middletown, Md., and Michael VanHolten of Bradenton, Fla.; two sisters, Mae Zingler of North Branch, N.J., and Alice Goodwin of Cranston, R.I.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick, Md.
There will be no visitation.
Norma J. Ernst
ESTERO, Fla. - Norma J. Ernst, 63, of Estero, and Clarkston, Mich., and formerly of Childacrest Drive, Boonsboro, died Tuesday, April 20, 1999, at Naples (Fla.) Community Hospital.
Born Dec. 22, 1935, in Flint, Mich., she was the daughter of Helene Currie of Mount Morris, Mich., and the late Richard Currie.
She was a graduate of St. Joseph School of Nursing.
She worked for Dr. Daniel Sheran and Dr. Neil Woodruff for many years.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Donald Ernst, whom she married
Nov. 26, 1955; four daughters, Therese Martin of Smithsburg, Diane Greene of Aurora, Colo., Denise Quantz of Clarkston, and Laura Klonica of Bossier, La.; two sons, Donald Ernst of Columbiaville, Mich., and Christopher Ernst of Boulder, Colo.; two brothers, Dick Currie of Millington, Mich., and Mark Currie of Clio, Mich.; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Daniel's Catholic Church, 7010 Valley Park Drive, Clarkston. Monsignor Robert Humitz will officiate. Burial will be in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Mich., today from 2 to 9 p.m., with memorial services by Knights of Columbus Davison Council 4090 at 7 p.m.; and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society or Arthritis Foundation Mid-Michigan Branch.
George D. Scadden Sr.
SHARPSBURG - George Donald Scadden Sr., 69, of 144 W. Main St., died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at his home.
Born Feb. 22, 1930, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Stanley Lewis Scadden Sr. and Lillie E. Slick Scadden.
His wife, Delores May Baker Scadden, died in 1990.
He retired from Reed Industries.
He is survived by one daughter, Pamela Kefauver of Hagerstown; two sons, George D. Scadden Jr. and Jerry Lee Scadden, both of Sharpsburg; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Denise Leeann Scadden; one sister, Helen Elizabeth Griffith; and one brother, Stanley Scadden Jr.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Beaver Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Marion L. Becker
Marion Lucille Becker, 83, of Ringgold Pike, died Sunday, April 18, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 26, 1916, in Turtle Creek, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George W. and Edith V. Miller Burkhart.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Leitersburg.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Eugene Becker; two sons, David E. Becker of Hagerstown and Gayle E. Becker of Mercersburg, Pa.; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Parks and an infant sister.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 28, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Leitersburg. The Rev. Richard Hembrock will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Bessie M. Myers
FINKSBURG, Md. - Bessie Merdola Myers, 84, of 1459 Wesley Road, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Westminster (Md.) Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born Sept. 8, 1914, in Marlowe, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John and Margie E. Hose Cook Myers.
She was a housewife.
She was a Protestant.
She is survived by three sisters, Blanche Jenkins of Hagerstown, Virginia High of Marlowe and Lucretia Fonte of Finksburg.
She was preceded in death by one son, Tommy Graham; two sisters, Margie Hammond and Viola Dovi; and four brothers, John Myers, Jacob Myers, Ernest Myers and Harry Cook Jr.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. Tony McCusker will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open after 9 a.m.
