William F. Hopkins
William F. Hopkins, 81, of 1258 Frederick St., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, April 20, 1999.
Born July 8, 1917, he was the son of the late J.M. and Florence Keyser Hopkins.
He retired from Western Maryland Railway in 1976.
He was a member of Hagerstown Church of the Brethren.
He was a member of Co. B Club, 29th Division Association; Dixon-Troxell Post 211 American Legion; Moose International 3000; Fraternal Order of Eagles 694; Red Men 84 and BPOE 368; American Train Dispatchers Association, and Western Maryland Old Timers Club.
He is survived by his wife, Sara B. Hopkins; one daughter, Angela H. Talaber of Woodbridge, Va.; two sons, John T. Hopkins of Fairfax, Va., and Samuel E. Hopkins of Wake Forest, N.C.; one sister, Mary Jane Auxt; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, William F. Hopkins II.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
There will be no visitation.
Virgil Kelbaugh
SMITHSBURG - Virgil "Eddie" Kelbaugh, 59, formerly of North Main Street and Reeder's Memorial Home, died Tuesday, April 20, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 28, 1939, in Smithsburg, he was the son of the late Charles Edwin and Margaret Montgomery Kelbaugh.
He had been employed by Grove Manufacturer of Shady Grove, Pa., Frick Co. and Regency Co., both of Waynesboro, Pa., and Barnhart Security of Thurmont, Md.
He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Smithsburg.
He was a member of Eagles Club Inc. of Waynesboro.
He is survived by two daughters, Debbie M. Pryor and Cindy D. Reid, both of Williamsport; a son, Eddie L. Kelbaugh of Hagerstown; a sister, Rosalie M. Dayhoff of Hagerstown; a brother, Richard W. Kelbaugh of Smithsburg; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg. Pastor Kenny Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Eugene B. Grossnickle
Eugene B. Grossnickle, of Hagerstown, died Monday, April 19, 1999, at his home.
Born in Greencastle, Pa., he was the son of the late Raymond and Myrtle Baker Grossnickle.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was self-employed in milk transportation.
He is survived by his wife, Helen V. Grossnickle; two daughters, Judith Ann Galvach of Woodbridge, N.J., and Jeri Lynn Gomez of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Corinne Ruth of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Omer T. Kaylor Jr.
Omer T. "Tom" Kaylor Jr., 75, of 940 The Terrace, Hagerstown, died Monday, April 19, 1999, at Mercy Hospital Center, Baltimore.
Born July 14, 1923, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Judge Omer T. and Mabel E. Slagen Kaylor Sr.
He was a 1941 graduate of Hagerstown High School; a 1946 graduate of Washington and Lee; and received his law degree and was admitted to the bar in 1949.
He practiced law in Hagerstown for 50 years.
He was a member of the V-12 Military Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served in the Pacific during World War II.
He was a member of Zion Reformed Church.
He was a state's attorney from 1954 to 1958; and a member of the Maryland House of Delegates from 1950 to 1954. He was president of United Way; a member of the Washington County Museum Board; Torch Club; Exchange Club; American Legion Morris Frock Post 42; the board of directors of F&M Bank; board of directors of YMCA; Phi Beta Kappa; a Rhodes Scholar; and a member of Assembly Club.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Johnston Kaylor; two daughters, Laura Kaylor Joy of Wellsville, N.Y., and Gwen Kaylor Cowart of Chesapeake, Va.; three sons, Omer Thomas Kaylor III of Pittsburgh, John Malcolm Kaylor of Hagerstown and Mark Johnston Kaylor of Costa Mesa, Calif.; a brother, Howard S. Kaylor of Hagerstown; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church, 201 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Jack D. Cook will officiate. Private graveside services will be at Rest Haven cemetery before the service. Visitation will be at his home Friday from 3 to 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church, 201 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, MD 21740; or Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, City Park, Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Rhoda E. Iseminger
WILLIAMSPORT - Rhoda Elizabeth Iseminger, 89, a resident of Homewood Retirement Center, 16505 Virginia Ave., and formerly of Funkstown and Greenberry Hills, died Monday, April 19, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 29, 1909, in Keedysville, she was the daughter of the late George R. and Ardella Mae McCrea Kefauver.
Her husband, Robert Gail Iseminger, died in 1975.
She was formerly employed by Eyerly's Department Store in Hagerstown.
She was a member of Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ in Boonsboro.
She is survived by two sons, Lloyd E. Iseminger and Harold V. Iseminger, both of Hagerstown; five grandchildren, Brenda Helmick, Jamie Iseminger and David Iseminger, all of Hagerstown, Deborah Betts of Funkstown and Wendy Iseminger of Baltimore; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lena Burtner and Martha Jennings.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Willard R. Rahn will officiate. Burial will be in Funkstown Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Carl V. Shanaberger Jr.
BOONSBORO - Carl Victor Shanaberger Jr., 77, of 801 Orchard Manor Drive, Boonsboro, died Sunday, April 18, 1999, at Frederick Health Care Center.
Born Jan. 3, 1922, in Arrow, Pa., he was the son of the late Carl V. Sr., and Mary Lucille Weigle Shanaberger.
He had been employed as a carpenter and homebuilder prior to retirement.
A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, he served in World War II.
He was a member of Bush Creek Church of the Brethren and recently attended Victory Baptist Church in Boonsboro.
He is survived by one daughter, Susan Steelman of Adamstown, Md.; two sons, Mark W. Shanaberger and Michael L. Shanaberger, both of Boonsboro; four sisters, Virginia Arnold of Florida, Linda Hansch of Gaithersburg, Md., Alice Kalandros of Vermont and Jean Shanaberger of Charlottesville, Va.; three brothers, William Shanaberger of Buchanan, Va., Lee Shanaberger of Chicago, and Jeff Shanaberger of Lovettsville, Va.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen Eichelberger; one grandson, Edward Steelman; and three brothers, Ward Shanaberger, Robert Shanaberger and Russell Shanaberger.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Victory Baptist Church, Boonsboro. The Rev. Ed Wade will officiate. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
There will be no visitation.
