Reba E. Strevig
BOONSBORO - Reba Etta Strevig, 92, a resident of Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Home, died Friday, April 9, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 19, 1906, in Frederick County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Salis A. and Annie Ellen Misner Kline.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Harry Strevig, in 1967.
She was a longtime member of First Church of the Brethren, Baltimore. She moved to Hampstead, Md., where she was a member of the Lutheran Church, and then to Boonsboro, where she was a member of Fahrney-Keedy Chapel of the Church of the Brethren.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting and gardening.
She is survived by a sister, Mary Engle of Woodsboro, Md.; two half sisters, Ruth Baker of Walkersville, Md., and Ann Staley of Woodsboro; four half brothers, Silas Kline of Thurmont, Md., Ira Kline of Ladiesburg, Md., Richard Kline of Woodsboro and William Kline of Union Bridge, Md.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Misal.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, Md. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick, chaplain of Fahrney-Keedy Chapel of the Church of the Brethren, will officiate. Burial will be in Rocky Hill Cemetery, Woodsboro.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
David E. Guessford Jr.
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - David Elmer Guessford Jr., 52, of 63rd Avenue North, died Saturday, April 10, 1999, at his home.
Born March 10, 1947, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Delores E. Detrich of Myrtle Beach and the late David Elmer Guessford.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
He was actively involved as a volunteer for the Myrtle Beach Swim Team.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Michele Y. Guessford; a daughter, Lindsey Nicole Guessford of Myrtle Beach; a brother, Ronald K. Van Reenen of Hagerstown; and his maternal grandmother, Catherine I. Garrish of Williamsport.
A memorial service will be Monday at 4:30 p.m. at McMillan-Small Funeral Home, Myrtle Beach. The Rev. Quay Adams will officiate.
Private burial will be in Ocean Woods Memorial cemetery at a later date.
The family will receive friends Monday after the service at the funeral home.

Joseph H. Weddle Jr.
WOLFSVILLE, Md. - Joseph H. "Jody" Weddle Jr., 41, of Wolfsville, died Friday, April 9, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 29, 1958, in Frederick County, Md., he was the son of Ruby Baker Weddle Webb of Hagerstown and the late Joseph H. Weddle Sr. He was the stepson of Dennis Webb of Hagerstown.
He was a 1976 graduate of Middletown High School.
He retired in September 1998 after 20 years of service as a correctional officer at Maryland Correctional Training Center, Hagerstown.
He was a member of Harmony Church of the Brethren.
He was a member of Myersville Volunteer Fire Co.; a member of Wolfsville Volunteer Fire Co., serving as fire police chief; and assistant coach of the Wolfsville Ruritan Little League baseball team.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Cynthia Burhman Weddle; a daughter, Meagan Lynn Weddle; a son, Casey Allen Weddle, all of Wolfsville; a sister, Tina Delauter of Myersville, Md.; and two nieces.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church, Wolfsville. The Rev. Randall Reid will officiate. Burial will be in Harmony Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Harmony.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville.

Julia E. Stine
KNOXVILLE, Md. - Julia Eleanor Dryden Stine, 87, of 4004 Olive School Road, died Thursday, April 8, 1999, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born July 3, 1911, in Pocomoke City, Md., she was the daughter of the late George T. and Ella Jane McAllister Dryden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Luther Stine Sr., in 1970.
She was a 1930 graduate of Salisbury Norman School and did postgraduate work at Hood College, Shepherd College and the University of Maryland.
She taught at Lander, Wolfsville and Burkittsville elementary schools and retired from Brunswick Elementary in 1971 after nearly 30 years of teaching in Frederick County, Md.
She was a member of Petersville Luther Chapel.
She was a member of Frederick County Retired Teachers Association and Maryland Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by three children, Janet Schmidt of Frederick, Md., and Alice Jean Stine and Paul Luther Stine Jr., both of Knoxville; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St. The Rev. Carroll Boyer, interim pastor of Luther Chapel at Petersville, Md., will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mark's Cemetery, Petersville.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lillie M. Caniford
KNOXVILLE, Md. - Lillie Mae Caniford, 76, of 1313 Jefferson Pike, died Thursday, April 8, 1999, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born May 15, 1922, in Petersville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Shirley Kendred and Lillie Marie DeLauder Snoots.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Gill Caniford, in 1987.
She was a member of Petersville Lutheran Church.
She was a member of Brunswick Chapter 97 Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by a daughter, Faye C. Fauble of Knoxville; two sons, Gill K. Caniford and Jay P. Caniford, both of Knoxville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley C. Haller.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick, Md. The Rev. James R. Smith will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mark's Cemetery, Petersville.
The family will receive friends today and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open Sunday at 9 a.m.

John C. Crone Sr.
MIDDLETOWN, Md. - John Conrad Crone Sr., 90, of 7535 A Hollow Road, died Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.
Born Nov. 12, 1908, in Middletown, he was the son of the late Samuel G. and Annie Sara Bowlus Crone.
A professional race car driver during the 1930s and 1940s, he twice qualified for the Indianapolis 500.
He then drove a gasoline transport and retired as a school bus driver for Frederick County.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown.
He was a member of Williams Grove Old Timers Race Club, and Winchester, Ind., Old Timers Race Club.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Shirley Welty Crone; a daughter, Colleen Elizabeth Crone of Silver Spring, Md.; a son, John C. Crone Jr. of Robins Air Force Base, Robins, Ga.; two sisters, Marie Sigler of Middletown and Fannie Babington of Walkersville, Md.; two brothers, Samuel Crone of Burkittsville, Md., and Robert Crone of Middletown; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Velma Thomas and Rebecca Hendricks; and a brother, Stanley Crone.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown. The Rev. William M. Bucher will officiate. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.
